New Moon in Capricorn Conjunct Pluto

Tonight’s New Moon promises to pack a wallop. My January Forecast briefly mentioned some of these energies:

The January 13 New Moon in Capricorn falls within minutes of last year’s Saturn-Pluto Conjunction. In the Eastern time zone, this New Moon occurs at the stroke of midnight, a year and a day after the Conjunction that colored all of 2020. “A year and a day” represents a magical time of completion or full initiation. Happening at the hinge point of midnight on the 13th, so close to the degree of the powerful Saturn-Pluto Conjunction, this dark passage forms a birth canal. Honor how you’ve changed and grown since January 12, 2020. Some major process of destruction and renovation will complete and reset with this New Moon.

The next day, January 14 holds potential for wild changes and eruptions. That’s the day that rebel Uranus stations direct in stable Taurus. Stationing direct supercharges influence of an outer planet, and Uranus is the most volatile. Fiery Mars in Taurus fast approaches lightning bolt liberator Uranus, adding intensity and volatility. All this, while expansive Jupiter squares Uranus, karmic Saturn squares Mars, and the Sun shines a spotlight on Pluto’s Underworld. Where and how this intensity affects you depends on your full natal chart, but collectively, we can expect something big to shift mid-month.

I noted the uncanny timing of the New Moon in the Eastern US time zone, which includes Washington, DC. For some parts of the world, this New Moon will occur on the 12th and for other parts, later on the 13th. The stroke of midnight and “year and a day” energy required a mention. No matter where you live, this New Moon occurs within 1.5 degrees of Pluto in Capricorn. This combo emphasizes a total reset and rebirth of major structures and institutions. These can be personal and/or collective.

This year and a day completion term of the Saturn-Pluto Conjunction reminds me of a dream I had in October 2019. It involved “special mandala floors” that would “ensure everyone gets where they need to go in the event of an earthquake.” You can think of Pluto as the earthquake, with Saturn going ahead and forging these special mandala floors. As so many old structures crumble, many upgrades and renovation have already been put in place — both personally and collectively. There is much to be grateful for amidst the chaos and confusion — for those with eyes to see.

Pluto destroys whatever stands in the way of transformation or transmutation. Think of the phoenix rising from its own ashes, a death and rebirth cycle. Pluto also wants you to find a new balance of power, freeing you from oppression and victimization. Persephone gets whisked into Hades, raped and her innocence destroyed, but she emerges a Queen. She embraces the cycles of life and death. When she returns from the depths, she brings the Sun and warmth and tender buds.

Pluto rules the Underworld, Chthonic Realm, the Shadow, the heavy hand of destiny, primal Nature, and the deepest subconscious and soul needs. I love Pluto, but only because I embrace that realm enough to find and excavate its hidden gems. The Lord of the Underworld offers strength, grit and a powerful chance to “Know Thyself.”

AstroButterfly goes into much more New Moon Conjunct Pluto detail here.

With the amount of chaos, fear-mongering, revelations and suppression right now, it’s anyone’s guess what will come lumbering out of the Underworld. In addition to the Shadow, Pluto’s realm contains real gems. Crystals, deep subconscious impulses, regeneration, power, and sexuality. While we can’t fully avoid the archetypes, we can choose to experience them on different levels. Dane Rudhyar’s Sabian Symbol for this New Moon degree offers encouragement and a suggested focus:

PHASE 294 (CAPRICORN 24°): A WOMAN ENTERING A CONVENT.

KEYNOTE: Total commitment to a transcendent goal.

A convent is a place made available by a community which believes in the possibility of reaching a world-transcending state of consciousness. It is made available to individuals who may be variously motivated. To some it is an escape from the intolerable pressures of family and society; to others it represents the possibility of pursuing in peace a spiritual ideal to which the whole being aspires and is totally dedicated. The important point, in this phase of the cyclic process, is that the existence of a convent expresses another aspect of the relationship between the society (its religion and culture) and the individual. In the preceding symbol society rewarded the individual for a noble performance in its service; here society accepts the fact that beyond its daily normal patterns of behavior and commitments, another way of life exists which, in a higher sense, also has social value. In the old Hindu society dominated by a rigid caste system, the ideal embodied in the sannyasi — the wandering holy man or yogi meditating in a forest or a cave, who had entirely given up all that caste implied — was seen to be the very culmination of the social process.

In this fourth stage symbol we see the paradoxical nature of the social process operating more strongly than ever. This derives from the fact that man’s nature contains in seed the possibility of overcoming and transcending itself in acts of complete denials and of surrender to a “higher” Law or quality of being. All spiritual techniques are indeed paradoxical. Rigid discipline conditions pure inner freedom. The final goal is the attainment of TRANSCENDENT SECURITY.

Again, the “Transcendent Security” reminds me of my mandala floors dream where the circles in the floor tipped in just the right way to slide everyone where they need to be “in the event of an earthquake.” I mention that dream because I had it twice, back to back, just as Pluto stationed Direct in October 2019. I’ve watched this message play out over the past year plus. Challenging external times offer a chance to connect with true support, which is ultimately a spiritual process. Take some time to go deep.

December 2020 Forecast and North Node Horoscopes

DECEMBER 2020 FORECAST

This year sprints to the finish line with as much intensity as January 2020 ushered in. We began the year with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Cancer on January 10, followed by a monumental one-time exact conjunction between Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn on January 12. Although these two planets come together every 37 years or so, the last Saturn-Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn triggered the Protestant Reformation. In other words, it was a big, cosmic deal! With long lasting effects. The energy of this meeting carried throughout the year with near almost-meetings between Saturn and Pluto. Jupiter’s journey through Capricorn in 2020 only magnified the impact.

December 2020 echoes January 2020 because on Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and the day the Sun moves into Capricorn — Jupiter and Saturn come together at 0 degrees Aquarius. Then, a little over a week later on the 29th, we have a rare second Full Moon in Cancer this year. In layman’s terms, this is like a Blue Moon on steroids.

Without getting too technical, the Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction on December 21 ushers in a new Age of Air after a 200-year Age of Earth. We’re talking about a seismic energy shift for the collective. This second Full Moon in Cancer occurs with very precise links to the collective North Node destiny point and Jupiter’s positions during the first Full Moon in Cancer. You can think of this as the dramatic bold print and highlighter of emotions. Feelings that flickered through and were repressed (eclipsed) during the January 10 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will be undeniable on and after December 29.

History will continue unpacking 2020 for a long time to come — especially the ways it affected our personal, private, home lives vs. authority, leaders and traditional structures.

A dreamy, sweet spot for the month occurs on December 5, when Venus makes a supportive trine to Neptune. The Love Goddess flashes her dazzling smile on the planet of Higher Love. This is a great day for creative projects, romance and compassion. Enjoy the energies, as we’ll need them amidst another intense month after many intense months.

December 14 brings a New Moon in Sagittarius and a Total Solar Eclipse. The last eclipse of the season demands communication about old patterns and the way things have been. Some of the revelations will feel dark and heavy, but at least they’re up for collective discussion. Communication can heal, especially when discussing formerly secret, dysfunctional and abusive things. Most New Moons offer a kind of monthly reset; this one offers a “never again” kind of reset. Clarity about what truly needs to change in order for humanity to embrace its true destiny and best path forward.

Overall, December 2020 will feel intense, but also like a culmination to an extremely intense and productive year. Take some time to ponder all the ways you made it through. This year was a huge learning opportunity, and those don’t always feel fun. It’s final exam time. We’re not finished learning, but 2020 has been a significant step in human evolution. Allow yourself to celebrate your own strength and ability to learn and implement new things. Whether you did so willingly or kicking and screaming, you changed a lot this year. Give credit where credit’s due.

How December 2020’s sky weather affects you will vary, depending on your entire natal chart, but your North Node Horoscope transcends monthly sky events. That’s because your North Node reveals what your soul came here to do. By midlife, the soul starts longing and pressing us to live our true purpose. At first, it whispers through intuition. Then it knocks a little louder through “coincidences” and external events. When not heard and honored, the soul’s longing can show up as health crises, marriage or work issues, or wondering “is this all there is?” If you feel a need to reinvent yourself, following North Node guidance helps you do that authentically — for you.

Unlike generic Sun Sign horoscopes, which ignore so many other aspects, following North Node guidance will always lead you in the right direction. Doors open, healing happens, relationships improve, and life gets more magical. This monthly column will help you tap into your personal North Node Mojo. When you start living your North Node purpose, we all win, because you not only begin to light up your own life. You light up the world.           – Laura

You can find your North Node sign here which is often different than your Sun sign. (If you’re right on a cusp, consider both options, or book a reading for more clarity.)

DECEMBER 2020 NORTH NODE HOROSCOPES

ARIES NORTH NODE: December is the last full month Aries ruler Mars will be in his home sign. Mars usually spends only six weeks in each sign, but a long retrograde had him activating your North Node sign from June 27, 2020 until January 6, 2021. That’s ten times the activation of a normal Mars transit. Now that Mars is moving forward again, you can expect more clarity and vigor regarding destiny level urges and desires. Beginning December 21, the Sun will shine light on your nodal axis — where your soul has been and where you’re headed. Remember, a small shift in perspective allows you to change frustration and anger into determination. Summon the energy to complete something before the end of the year. It doesn’t need to be a big thing, but finishing a commitment will make you feel better about all of 2020. Release something you no longer need on the 29th’s Full Moon. It’s been a long year: time to move on!

TAURUS NORTH NODE: This is a powerful, dramatic month for Taurus North Node natives. Allow yourself the time to process change. Even positive change requires integration. Justice and a sense of completion are themes for this last month of the year. Take stock of what you’ve acquired in 2020. Skills, tools, surroundings: it all matters. You are learning to build and celebrate a better world. This creation takes time, and that’s OK. Slow, steady shifts are less traumatic and more sustainable. Take the long term view. Even if your year feels incomplete, note whatever has run its course. If you look for them, you’re bound to find areas where you’ve made solid progress. No one else knows what kind of inner transformation it took for you to make those steps. Spend some quiet time puttering and arranging things the way you like them. You have time now. Events will ramp up in January.

GEMINI NORTH NODE: If you’ve felt trapped by illusions, reaching for the light in a long, dark tunnel, the good news is that it’s always darkest before the dawn. Gemini North Node natives have felt a lot of pressure this Fall, more so than most signs. With the transiting North Node moving through your sign and reordering life according to destiny, plus quincunx demands from Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn, it may have felt like you “can’t catch a break” and “where’s your happy ending?” On December 17 and 19, heavyweights Saturn then Jupiter move into fellow Air Sign Aquarius, heralding a new Age of Air after 200 years of Earth energy. Change takes time to integrate, but Gemini North Node natives are here to embrace and revel in change. Yes, you can twist and turn and even dance your way to happier times. Allow some of that zany Aquarian energy to shake up your routines and anything stuck. Aquarius and Gemini are great friends. Keep going. More compatible companions and energies are on the way.

CANCER NORTH NODE: The biggest events in December for Cancer North Node natives are the Winter Equinox/Saturn/Jupiter conjunction on December 21st, and the Full Moon at 10:28 p.m. Eastern time on the 29th. Winter Equinox marks the transition from Sun into your South Node sign of Capricorn, where for the next 30 days, it will highlight old issues, relationship patterns and expectations. As the Sun sheds light on these areas, you’ll need to remind yourself to remain open to emotions. There is a surprising strength in vulnerability. This is the Second Full Moon in Cancer in 2020, and this “Long Night’s Moon” asks you to evaluate how you’ve changed since January. What endings brought new beginnings? In which ways did life challenge you to give more freely? How did life restructure itself in support of softer, more heartfelt priorities? 2020 was a challenging year. Be sure to claim the reward for your hard work.

LEO NORTH NODE: If you’ve been waiting for your ships to arrive, continue to have faith that good, new things are on the horizon. The Universe wants you to succeed. Sometimes it just takes patience in order for things to turn your way. What makes you feel young at heart? Fill some of your waiting time by doing more of those things. Leo’s need to play. Jupiter and Saturn are moving into your South Node sign in mid-December. Resist tendencies to get too serious, group-oriented or emotionally detached. You need to live from a place of joy and natural instinct. Get off your electronic devices for a good stretch each day! Step away from your desk and social media. You’ll feel more emotionally grounded if you get into your body and out in nature. Take advantage of the first three weeks of December as the Sagittarius Sun shines supportive light on your destiny and business ventures. Pay attention to passion and desires that arise, and give yourself permission to pursue them.

VIRGO NORTH NODE: Maintain mental clarity this holiday season by minimizing any tendencies to zone out with sugar or alcohol. You’re much stronger and more grounded when you stick to diet and exercise. You can ease up on intensity, but don’t get too far off track. You’ll feel so much better if you eat healthy foods and make time to meditate, walk or run. Modify your routine rather than throwing it out. For you, it’s much easier to keep a good thing going than to crawl out of a bad habit again and again. Give yourself the gift of strength, and don’t be afraid to live a life of true abundance. Focus on grounded support — both giving and receiving. You have an ability to inspire others through your own discipline. When you live your best self, you model what’s possible for others. You can make the mundane sacred by devoting yourself to life’s little details.

LIBRA NORTH NODE: In mid-December, Saturn and Jupiter join forces in fellow Air Sign Aquarius, finally offering expansive and supportive energy to Libra North Node natives. Just having these two heavyweights out of Capricorn will feel like a relief. Meanwhile, the transiting North Node continues trining Libra from Air Sign Gemini. Instead of feeling so pushed and pressed, Libra North Node natives will start feeling some wind beneath their wings: success and rejuvenation on a destiny level. Just remember that victories taste sweeter when shared with others. Uplift and inspire by partnering with those who may not have your courage or confidence. Find balance in all things, especially in the active and receptive. When in doubt, err on the side of a little too much generosity. Reach out and make someone’s day by showing them you care.

SCORPIO NORTH NODE: If you feel stuck or unable to let go of emotions, or situations in your life, try moving out physical items. ‘Tis the season for giving. Do you really need all of that old stuff?! Belongings hold energy. If you haven’t used it or looked at it in five years, can you think of someone who could? When you give away that which no longer serves, you open room for the kind of abundance you do need. Is it health? Emotional support? A sense that your day will finally arrive? When you recognize such abundance that you can give some away, you move from a space of lack to one of receiving that which you truly need. If you put your faith in externals beyond your control, you will never feel secure. Practice surrendering to a Higher Power. Cultivate an ability to recognize that which remains eternal amidst constant change. Thou art that.

SAGITTARIUS NORTH NODE: The Sun’s in your sign for three weeks. Enjoy the clarity it offers as the collective South Node continues bringing up old patterns and relationships for review. This focus on old relationships intensifies mid-month with a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse on December 14. Love Goddess Venus enters Sagittarius the very next day, bringing grace, beauty and self-esteem. Count your blessings this month and aim to reclaim the best of the old while sparking new passion and zest for life. Be bold and wear red. ‘Tis the season to bring the light and bright to darker, heavier energies. People turn to you for the unvarnished truth. You know more than you think you do. Choose one area where you’d like to deepen your studies and experience. If you’ve been going stir crazy with travel restrictions, find a way to satisfy that urge. Road trip to Air BnB’s, watch travel videos, or read a novel set where you want to go. Reignite your sense of adventure.

CAPRICORN NORTH NODE: Jupiter and Saturn finish their journey through Capricorn, with Saturn moving to Aquarius on the 17th, followed by Jupiter on the 19th. Saturn won’t return to his home sign of Capricorn until 2048, so git ‘er done! On Winter Solstice, December 21, when Jupiter and Saturn meet in Aquarius, the Sun moves into Capricorn, shining light on your North Node sign for the next month. Pay attention to any insights you receive on or around the Full Moon on the 29th. Use this time to assess how you’ve changed this year. What new structures and foundations have you built? How have you re-balanced any tendencies to over-give? How has your health improved by setting boundaries and managing your emotions? Continue focusing on best of the old while ushering in improvements and upgrades. Cultivating an awareness of two worlds will help you navigate big events with greater ease. When you partner with the guiding force of the Universe, life becomes a dance.

AQUARIUS NORTH NODE: On December 17, Saturn moves into Aquarius, followed by Jupiter on the 19th and their Great Conjunction on Winter Solstice. This change in the winds begins to activate destiny level shifts in your North Node sign. Jupiter will expand and supercharge Aquarius for 12 months, while Saturn remains for 2.5 years. As Father Time and Lord of Karma, Saturn has a special relationship with the North Node. You might feel a cosmic “ahem,” urging you to evaluate where you’re on path and where you need to adjust your approach. Yours is an innovative sign. If you feel pressured or restricted, ask, “What am I missing?” and “I wonder what solutions I’m about to find?” Some of these solutions will probably seem counter-intuitive, but a higher order guides your process.  Now would be a good time to explore your natal chart or deepen astrology studies. Carve out time for “flighty” pursuits and things that “float your boat.” A zany new interest could change your life in profound ways.

PISCES NORTH NODE: If you catch yourself worrying about things beyond your control, close your eyes and allow yourself to feel the emotions. Getting stuck in your head doesn’t serve you. As Helen Keller said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched — they must be felt with the heart.” Tune into the magic and childlike wonder of this season. Creative pursuits bring delight, and so do children. If you can’t spend the holidays in person with younger loved ones, try some other means of connection. Remember to balance external obligations with your internal needs. You’ll move through life more efficiently if you take some time each day to mediate and/or center yourself. This month could bring friction in relationships and questions of your own self-value. You have what it takes to navigate these challenges. Lead with Spirit and let the 3D world follow along. When in doubt, paint, sing or dance it out.

Ann Kreilkamp ~ Three Planets to go Retrograde May 11-14

Adding context to yesterday’s Venus Retrograde post, here’s another astro-weather update from my friend, permaculturist and astrology mentor, Ann Kreilkamp. Again, these transits hit very close to home in my chart. My Moon sits at 1 degree 14 minutes Aquarius, so all this Aquarian action triggers a popcorn reaction in my natal Sun-Moon-Pluto Grand Trine in Air. Lots of activation on a very personal level, but these transits also very much affect the collective.

NOTE: I changed the original title to May 11-14, as I’m pretty sure that’s what she meant. The Saturn-Pluto Conjunction was in January; however, this update mostly covers this week.

Ann Kreilkamp ~ Three Planets to go Retrograde May 11-14

Hold on to your hats and prepare to back up. However far you’ve come to this point — especially regarding the most important matter, to last all this year, of working with the Saturn/Pluto conjunction pressing on us from mid-January on — is turning even more intense from now through the end of September.

Throughout this entire year, and especially since March 23, when Saturn moved into Aquarius, we are being tasked with  experimenting (Saturn in Aquarius) with ways to dissolve or reconfigure old Saturnine patterns and habits which have masked, restricted or even prevented the full flow of the Plutonian life force. That goes at every level: inside the self to fully re-experience and reprogram memories, between people (to penetrate and release the old stuck gunk you’ve kept under wraps) — not to mention inside organizations, institutions, governments, human-made structures at every level. So many filled with or identical to bad habits or patterns from the past; all these must be let go if we are to fully surrender to the death and rebirthing process that Pluto demands..

Saturn, with the longest cycle, has the longest retrograde period, this year from May 11, backing up into late Capricorn on July 2, then finally, on September 29th, turning to go direct at 25°02 Capricorn. Saturn will not complete whatever unfinished business this retrograde period signifies until the first few days of January 2021, when it finally moves over 1°57 Aquarius again, the degree upon which it turned [on May 11]. Timothy Glenn ~ 2020: The Turning of the Tables

At long last, Timothy Glenn’s 2020 article: well worth the wait!

2020: The Turning of the Tables

by Timothy Glenn

The Turning of the Tides would also have been an appropriate title, but the tides turned in 2017. Now the effects of that turning of the tides in 2017 are beginning to become visible to the population at large. Some of the more obvious effects that we will be able to see (with 20/20 vision) this year will be made evident in The Turning of the Tables: that is, the gaming tables in the human world.

As far back as our conscious memory reaches, those gaming tables have been dominated by the power brokers of the Old Guard. Traditionally, the dice have been loaded, the decks have been stacked, the tables have been tilted, and the scales have been weighted; and not in our favor. May the odds be ever in our favor? Oh, please.

Here in 2020, the G.E.A.R.S. are shifting: as in Government, Economics, Academia, Religion and Science. There have been games played out upon humanity for millennia, and humans have played along. But now the human collective has outgrown the underpinnings of such gaming. Aside from all that, the Earth Herself is opting out from hosting any form of fear-based gaming, and so now She is turning the tables — with gusto.

Playing the Numbers

In numerological cycles, the number 20 denotes a turning point, so we might translate 2020 as the turning point of turning points. There will be no putting the genie back in the bottle or the toothpaste back in the tube.

Card 20 in the tarot deck is called Judgment. The traditional depiction shows Archangel Gabriel sounding the trumpet in heaven, as people below are rising from graves. This represents the call from the darkness into the light. Continue reading

Time Dreams and a Podcast

I wanted to bring attention to Ann Kreilkamp’s ARKCroneCast Updates, her new podcast available to Patreon subscribers. The subscription levels are only $5, $10 or $20 per month, well worth it, imho. Ann brings over 40 years as an astrologer, plus 77 years of extraordinary living. I especially enjoyed her latest, Number 11, called “Trust.” She discusses this theme in context of Saturn and Pluto types of trust, and I found it perfectly synchronized with this morning’s dreams.

I left those dreams as a comment on her site, but I’ll share them here, too. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone feeling a huge disparity between right and left brain messages. I know many people keep receiving vivid dreams and visions that seem so real, yet so unrelated to current life circumstances. Ann’s podcast shares different levels of trust, and why this theme seems so “up” right now for so many. (Hint: Saturn and Pluto, though not exactly conjunct, remain super close in Capricorn.)

Anyway, here’s my comment, and here’s the link to CroneCast 11:

Great podcast!

Synchronously, before listening to this, two dreams this morning featured “Time” as a topic, including a wall of dozens of circular clocks, all synchronized, all being kept warm by a “hot plate wall” behind them. The message was one I keep getting, “high vibe and filled with life force energy,” a theme that keeps showing up in dreams about death, mud or dusty wreaths filled with seeds. This particular dream implied that we could “eat Time” and that this time banquet was being prepared and kept warm by amazing cosmic time chefs who knew exactly when and how to serve the right moments as a feast.

In the prior dream, I was in a clothing store, second story, somewhere in Idaho. The female clerk told me that in order to find what I wanted, I needed to cross the street. I went downstairs and began to cross the street, which turned into an intimidatingly wide street.

I crossed at a crosswalk, but the light went through several cycles as I made my way across the street. I was wearing high heeled, intricately carved wooden shoes, which I realized I could not continue to walk in. I took them off, and my bare feet couldn’t continue walking on this road, either. I was already in the middle of the road with cars on both sides. I dropped to my knees, kneeling, and “walking” on my knees across the street.

I worried that no one could see me so low to the ground, that I would get run over. Then I realized that none of the drivers of the cars seemed to notice the lights had changed. Time had either slowed down or stopped for them while I made my way — safely — across the street. When I arrived at the other store, traffic resumed. The store had exactly what I wanted, even though I didn’t know I was looking for it. I left wearing the new clothes.

I love your mantra at the end: “Let the tide carry me, whether it goes in or out.” I think I’ll adopt that one, too. So many Plutonian dreams this past few months! My goodness, it’s Pluto central … with Saturn thrown in trying to stop the tide. 🙂 Thank you.

Sand Mandala: Tibetan Buddhist Ritual

This came up in this morning’s writing. Thought I’d share, because it feels very Saturn conjunct Pluto:

Session Themes and Navigating this Potent Week of Energies

In recent months, but especially the last two weeks, I’ve noticed a major recurring theme in sessions. I thought I’d share a little of that theme here, since it seems to be somewhat of a collective process if so many individuals are going through it right now. I’ll also share links to some insightful articles about this week’s super intense events in the sky. This weekend brings a perfect storm of aspects all coming together … and yet these aspects continue to ricochet off past and future potent transits. In my own chart, these eclipses and mega-events hit majorly sensitive spots, so I’m not only observing effects in sessions and in the collective, but also very much in my inner and outer life.

Radical Vulnerability

One theme I continue to encounter is that of vulnerability. Specifically, life seems to be putting people into what would normally feel like a worst nightmare Catch-22: a situation in which the only way to survive, heal or succeed means exposing themselves in a nakedly vulnerable way. These people faced hurt in the past — deep wounds from trusting the wrong people, from being abused, or punished for seeming “weak.” They learned to shut down in order to protect themselves, and especially their hearts.

With Jupiter now opposing the North Node in Cancer, there’s a big (Jupiter) collective push to become more childlike (Cancer) and to allow someone else to care for us in a safe, heartfelt and grown up way. Re-parenting issues abound, and they’re prickly issues, because these people learned not to trust parents or authority figures. The risk feels even more difficult with a stellium of planets (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto) and the transiting South Node (past lives, old habits) in Capricorn right now. The dominant energy stands tall in Capricorn, sign of self-sufficiency ruled by stern patriarch Saturn. Yet the collective path forward (North Node) involves feeling, empathic, childlike, mothering and receptive to mothering Cancer.

For most of the people being called to vulnerability, “losing control” or “not having it together” is very scary.

I reminded two clients yesterday that “It takes a lot of courage to admit you’re terrified.” We all laughed, but recognized that truth. It’s OK to feel afraid. That’s part of the process. Courage is not living without fear. Courage comes from cœur — the French word for “heart.” Having courage means your heart feels enough love for others — and in this case, for yourself, for whatever you need — to face the fear and embrace the opportunities at hand.

Jupiter brings luck, truth, optimism and buoyant support. While life has forced people into this uncomfortable position of needing to embrace their own vulnerability — life has also brought just the right people together to make that happen. Whether through a doctor, therapist, friend, mentor, or new romance, people having their hearts cracked open are also finding just the right person or people to love and nurture their budding tenderness.

I keep seeing or hearing about this, over and over. It’s amazing how many people are going through this exact process right now. To me, it seems like part of the New Earth energies — a deep and powerful love frequency.

This process requires discernment. Unfortunately, not everyone is a safe person. If you’ve felt pushed in this direction, though, look deeper at the relationships in your life. See if you notice an obvious opening, even if it feels scary or bizarre to explore that possibility. Something seems to be orchestrating opportunities for increased tenderness and vulnerability. This new love frequency feels protective and regenerative. Considering all the other energies headed our way, having courage in this most personal area will make you stronger and better able to weather the storms.

The Big Astro Weather Week

Since many of the big fireworks this coming weekend involve long cycled planets, we’ve already been living with some of these energies for a long time. I mentioned some key events in my Happy Solstice, Happy Anniversary, Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas Eclipse post. The December 25th/26th eclipse links into this weekend and will continue to play out over the coming weeks and months. A brief listing of coming attractions follows:

Wednesday, January 8th: Jupiter exactly conjunct the South Node at 8° Capricorn

Friday, January 10th: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 20° Cancer with a tightly packed Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Pluto all in 20-22° Capricorn. As Pam Younghans notes, this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse also involves Ceres (21° Capricorn) and Chariklo (24° Capricorn), bringing a feminine energy to that potent stellium. In addition, Juno (the faithful wife) sits at 19° Libra, and Eris (the scorned Goddess) at 23° Aries, both squared by those opposing energies in Cancer and Capricorn.

The Trans-Neptunian-Object known as Arawn — named after the Welsh God of the Underworld — also rules at 20° Capricorn right now. Arawn amplifies both the Saturnian and Plutonian energies, exponentially amplifying the Capricorn energy face-off with the Cancer Full Moon. The 12/12/19 Full Moon was intense, but this one feels out of this world.

Saturday, January 10th or 11th (depending on time zone): Uranus stations direct at 2°37′ Taurus. Uranus went retrograde on August 11, 2019. The Rx motion tones down the Uranian urge to kick out the jambs, rabble rouse, rebel and liberate. When an outer planet stations direct, its power amplifies, especially at the point of shift. I’ve shared lots of writing about Uranus in Taurus, and we can expect this shift to encapsulate and liberate those energies.

Sunday, January 12th: Saturn exactly conjuncts Pluto for the one and only time at 22°46′ Capricorn. This is a hugely big deal. Saturn only conjuncts Pluto once every 35-40 years, and not always in the same sign. To have this conjunction occur right on the heels of a powerful Lunar Eclipse and Uranus stationing direct brings so many planets, points and objects together it’s like Rachmaninoff in the skies.

On a Personal Note:

These transits keep dogging me! To explain all the ways these cosmic events keep triggering precise and super sensitive spots in my chart would sound too technical and boring to most. Suffice to say, I’m not just empathing the collective and my clients’ experiences. I’m getting loads of exact hits on both my natal and 9th Harmonic charts. It’s kind of mind boggling, but at least it explains why for years, I’ve viewed this time period through 2025 as pivotal for me. I always link into the collective in very personal micro/macro ways, so I’m curious to see how it all plays out.

If you’ve not read Ringing in a New Decade and a New Earth, that gives more of a dreamlike overview of the coming energies. I told a client yesterday that I feel an excited sense of dread — kind of like approaching the peak of a very high and windy rollercoaster. How fast and wild will it go? Will destiny’s force feel exhilarating and/or terrifying? We live in exciting and interesting times.

If you’re not one for Rachmaninoff, you might like this Melody Sheep version of Bill Hicks and George Carlin. One of my favorites!

Blessed Be … and be the blessing.

Astrobutterfly ~ Astrology of December 2019 – the Grand Finale

At the bottom of this post, I’m linking to a fabulous preview of December 2019’s astro energies, written up by Astrobutterfly. On the collective level, we’re in for some big shifts. On a personal level, December 2019 culminates many of the astro transits I’ve used as examples in recent blog posts.

My North Node sits at 8° Capricorn, so the December 3, 2019 Venus Conjunct South Node transit occurs right on my North Node (future/soul’s trajectory), while the collective feels a South Node (past) impact.

The upcoming Full Moon also might be the most potent Full Moon activation of my chart that I’ve experienced — at least in recent memory.

From Astrobutterfly:

“December 12th, 2019 – Full Moon In Gemini

What a Full Moon! Venus is completely sandwiched between Saturn and Pluto (Saturn is at 19° Capricorn, Venus at 20° Capricorn, and Pluto at 21° Capricorn.) And the Full Moon (at 19° Gemini) is quincunx all of that.

AND, if that was not enough, on the same day, Chiron changes direction. The primal identity wound (Chiron direct at 1° Aries) can no longer be ignored. This time, we have to get to the heart of the matter (Venus conjunct Saturn and Pluto). No matter how.

Because the quincunx will ask you to find a creative solution. Pay special attention to this Full Moon, because it will reveal what the monumental Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January 2020 is really about.”

In my intro to Ann Kreilkamp’s recent post on the January 2020 Saturn/Pluto Conjunction, I mentioned how my natal 21° Gemini Saturn is getting majorly activated by a quincunx aspect with transiting Pluto. Well, it turns out this powerful Gemini Full Moon will hit within 2 degrees of my natal Saturn, which will get a quadruple whammy from transiting Venus, Saturn, Pluto quincunxing it, with the Full Moon conjuncting it. Mega-hit. No wonder this spot has felt so “up” for me in recent weeks. Yet another example of sensing the impending energies before putting names to them.

Also on December 12, 2019, Chiron stations direct at 1° Aries, which happens to be my Sun/Moon Midpoint, currently activating an exact kite formation with my natal exact Grand Trine among Sun-Moon-Pluto. I wrote of this kite in Precognitive Blues, Part 3: Astrology, Card Divination and Animal Spirits. In that same post, I also mentioned how much more powerful I find the precognitive activation/dreams when a longer transit planet/centaur changes direction or changes signs. I hadn’t thought to look at the degree Chiron will station direct, but of course it would just happen to occur on this literally essential (as in “Essence of Me”) point in my natal chart.

I also just noticed that the Solar Eclipse at 4° Capricorn on December 26 forms a Grand Trine in Earth with transiting Uranus at 2-3° Taurus (also conjunct my Part of Fortune) and my 3° Virgo Ascendant. Jupiter (expansive, lucky) will be at 5° Capricorn and Pholus (small thing, BIG EFFECT) will be just a bit past 2° Capricorn on December 26, both within orb of the Solar Eclipse. I think of Jupiter-Pholus conjunctions as the Big Bang, so on the collective level, we’ll have Jupiter-Pholus-Sun-Moon interacting with Uranus. Mega Big Bang. Then, personally, that forms a Grand Trine with key spots of my natal chart.

In other words, if you’ve sensed that things seem particularly “up” for me right now, these are some major astrological reasons why. December 2019’s transits affect my chart in an extremely personal way, but these and other transits are powerful enough to affect everyone in some way just by virtue of being alive at this time.

As Astrobutterfly says:

When I write the monthly reports, I usually put the most important transit in the title, for example, ‘Uranus enters Taurus’ or ‘Venus goes retrograde’ but I just couldn’t pick just one asto event for the month of December, because there are simply too many things going on.

Ann Kreilkamp ~ From death throes to birth pains: Saturn/Pluto detonates cardinal structures

Some additional context from me (Laura) first:

I’ve been sensing chthonic, subconscious, magical, eruptive, primal, regenerative Pluto rooting around and doing something with my natal Saturn. I’ve also long felt that this January 2020 conjunction between Saturn and Pluto at 22-23 Capricorn would somehow be a “direct hit” on my chart. Until yesterday, the aspect eluded me, though. No “major” aspects get triggered, since my Saturn’s in Gemini, while Pluto’s in Capricorn.

Pluto (and Saturn) have been transiting my 5th house of pleasure/creativity/children/private relationships, and I’ve been getting loads of dream downloads and synchronicities about how my 5th house impacts my 10th house (career/public life), which includes my natal Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn, in that order. The recent messages have been grinding and relentless (Pluto) — but also with a sense of fun/creativity (5th house) and everything getting upgraded (Saturn) and properly placed in proper timing (Saturn). With Saturn as Father Time and Pluto as Lord of the Underworld, precise synchronicities linked to my subconscious are really outdoing themselves!

As so often happens when an aspect I sense energetically goes exact, I discovered that transiting Pluto at 21 degrees 04′ Capricorn is currently inconjunct aka quincunx my 21 degrees 04′ Gemini Saturn. The Saturn/Pluto conjunction will occur within 1-2 degrees of my natal Saturn. In other words, my energetic sense was accurate. I just didn’t think to look at inconjunctions. Some astrologers consider this a major aspect, while most consider it minor. I would call it major for me at this time. It’s also an aspect concerned with integration. The signs involved have nothing in common but need to learn to work together — quite a metaphor for our political world right now! Continue reading

Powerful Full Moon in Aries, Plus Dreams and Art

I hadn’t planned to post on this Full Moon, but my dreams have been nagging me all day. Now, as I sit down to type, I find it’s 5:08 p.m. Eastern US time, exactly when the Full Moon hits 20 degrees 13 minutes Aries, opposing the Sun at 20 degrees 13 minutes Libra. The luminaries form a T-square with Pluto at 20 Capricorn, with Saturn adding to that T-square energy from its position at 14 degrees 26 minutes Capricorn. With the North Node at 12 degrees 36 minutes Cancer, we get even more tension, as Saturn has just crossed over the collective’s South Node. Jupiter in Sagittarius brings expansive and supportive energy, trining the Full Moon and sextiling the Sun.

From a collective standpoint, these energies urge us to rebalance karmic entanglements and find a more workable balance of Power To, rather than Power Over. What has already served its purpose and needs to change or go? What needs softening and deeper devotion? How do our emotions reflect our individual and collective identities? What are we re-birthing towards? What kind of tensions exist between self and other?

In my own chart(s), this Full Moon gets extra potent, because the Full Moon conjuncts my natal Chiron, opposing the Sun as it conjuncts my natal Uranus. For weeks, I’ve been having significant dreams related to 20 degrees Capricorn. One of these dreams — the morning that Pluto stationed direct over that 20 Cap spot — led me down a rabbit hole to find this 20 Cap significance stretches back over a decade, in symbolic and precognitive dreams and unusual real life connections.
