Pennsylvania Recap

As promised, I wanted to offer a little recap of my recent trip to Pennsylvania. I combined teaching a Reiki Level 1 Certification Class with visiting my parents, sister, nephews, friends, clients and students — all in my hometown, Bethlehem, PA and the surrounding Lehigh Valley and Blue Mountain area. The last time I visited PA was for my 101-year-old Grandma Van’s funeral back in April 2013. Given that my aunt, cousin and her children were all watching my uncle run the Boston Marathon the day prior to the funeral (yes, that Boston Marathon) and my having to creatively use texts, prayer, intuition, and relay calls among various uncles and my cousin in order to reunite the traumatized and separated family members, while getting the situation under control before telling my cancer-ridden and very stressed out father, this trip proved far more relaxing and enjoyable!

I haven’t visited the Lehigh Valley during Summer since 2006, and I was continually struck by how beautiful the trees looked! I don’t have any photos to do them justice, but the landscaping in so many areas has really grown up in nine years. I loved all the different shades of green, combined with blue spruce and all sorts of purple leafing trees. The effect constantly stunned me, and even my Reiki students commented on how beautiful and unusual the trees were. On my return flights, I made a point to gaze at the ground beneath, as well as on the drive home from South Bend, and we don’t have anywhere near that delightful variety of color play. I always knew I grew up in a pretty area, rich in woods; however, coming from flatland, this trip really highlighted all the rolling hills and diversity of trees. Simply gorgeous!

My mom and I spent an afternoon walking around downtown Bethlehem, and I took her out to lunch at a French Bistro that offered gluten free crepes. I managed to get a veggie combo with goat cheese, tomatoes and kale, and it was truly delicious and satisfying. I wondered if the non-raw goat cheese would bother me, but I did fine with that little bit. Here you can see a view of the Christmas City with its brick sidewalks and quaint shops:

Historic Hotel Bethlehem

Historic Hotel Bethlehem

Historic Hotel Bethlehem has been there practically forever, facing Main Street and with its back towards a very old area of partial ruins and the site of Crafts Along the Monocacy, an event I participated in as a child, making homemade sarsparilla and other crafts, fully decked out in old Moravian clothes, handmade by my mom. During August, this area transforms into Musikfest, and in late September, there’s the Celtic Classic, which features Highland games, bagpiping and all things Celtic. I grew up with Donegal Square, historic buildings and Moravian stars. My first boyfriend was a bagpiper, and our high school had a full on bagpipe corps. It always feels good to return to my roots.

I was happy to see that South Side Bethlehem has continued its long term revitalization. My mom has worked at Lehigh University for decades, so I’ve always spent some time on the South Side. When I was growing up, though, the South Side was rough, highly impoverished and not a good place to hang out after dark. Over the decades, local artists, restauranteurs, farmers, Lehigh University, Rodale and others have nurtured a strong arts community, including Zoellner Arts Center, where my mom frequently ushers at any concerts or performances she’d love to see and hear. Rodale (a local company of organic gardening fame) recently sponsored a complete revamp of old train tracks into an educational promenade complete with a wildflower garden, a Boys and Girls Club learning garden, and fruit trees along the path.

Great herons welcome visitors to the native plants area:

Below, you can see some of the raised beds for the Boys and Girls Club, along with a sneak peak of my mama:

Bethlehem also boasts a nationally famous vegan bakery, which oddly enough, I’d never been to until this trip.

vegan treats

Apparently, the sweets at Vegan Treats are so good that one of my aunts routinely has them shipped to her all the way in Orlando, Florida! Well, this trip, we made a point to get me there, and it did not disappoint! The bottom three shelves are not only vegan but also gluten free:

yummy

I wasn’t too hungry after my veggie crepes, but I managed to choke down a gluten-free vegan chocolate chip cookie. Um … yum!!!!!!

Also on the week’s agenda: blueberry picking with my sister, nephew and my sister’s boyfriend at the boyfriend’s parent’s house/homestead in the Blue Mountains. I was so busy harvesting that I forgot to take photos, but the blueberries were as awesome as the rest of his dad’s immaculate garden. Erica’s boyfriend told me that his family never bought any vegetables his entire childhood. Looking at the variety and volume of fruits, nuts, and veggies, I believe him!

Other than visiting family, my official reason for this trip was to teach a Reiki Level 1 Certification Class hosted by my sister. It was so great to meet long distance clients turned in person students. My dear friend Pamela, whom I trained in Reiki back in 2002 in Santa Fe and also lived near during my 2007 stint in beautiful Monterey, CA, recently moved to the Philadelphia area. She drove up for the day to audit the class, since I let anyone audit up to the level they’ve attended with me (space permitting). It was a wonderful class, but blog reader Mel Condit provided a major highlight by generously offering to cater the class with gluten free, sugar free vegan food. He joined us for lunch, and we all enjoyed tales of his local farming friends, adventures in 1970’s India, and his recipe ideas. Oh, and the food rocked!

watermelon gazpacho and fermented veggies

In addition to the watermelon gazpacho and homemade fermented veggies shown above, the feast included vegan sushi with locally made organic tofu, a kale salad with fermented cashew creamy dressing, quinoa tabouli, pickled ginger, fresh veggies, and a delicious nut based veggie dip. OMG, we were in heaven!

feast

One student also brought farm fresh organic apricots harvested just before class, which my sister and I distributed amongst her family and my dad, who particularly loves apricots. All in all, it was a delicious, nurturing and highly, highly energized class!

Sunday meant flying back to Indiana after a whirlwind week. I did manage to help my dad mulch some landscaping areas and had enough downtime to read a great Druid novel timely gifted by my sweet friend Mitch. “Priestess of the Forest” provided extra magical perspective and lore amidst all those gorgeous trees, somehow quite fitting to the entire trip. I’m now back in Goshen with a busy week, culminating in a Reiki Level 2 Certification Class here in our home. If all the repairs and painting remain on schedule, this might be the last class hosted in our home instead of the new classroom/office space. That’s very exciting, especially since I only have space for one more student in Friday’s class. I’ll appreciate the larger, dedicated capacity when that all comes into being.

Allentown, PA Reiki Certification Class Reminders

The Allentown, PA Reiki class is only one week away! Then an unexpected Level 2 Certification Class happens in Goshen, IN the following week.

REIKI CERTIFICATION CLASSES in JULY 2015

Reiki is an ancient healing method rediscovered in the 19th century by the Japanese monk Dr. Mikao Usui. The “Rei” in Reiki stands for “universal” or” spiritual,” and the “ki” corresponds to the “life force energy” known as “Chi” or “prana” in other Eastern systems of healing and energy work or yoga. It offers an easy, non-draining way to provide hands-on or distant healing through energy exchange and profound relaxation, allowing the recipient’s body, mind, soul and spirit to access their own deepest healing. Reiki can be practiced professionally, or as an adjunct to one’s own spiritual path and holistic lifestyle. I teach the Usui Method of Reiki, which is the most traditional style from which all other types derive.

July 2015 Specials, a Three-Day Tarot Special, and Two July Reiki Classes

July’s specials reflect the month’s energies and clients’ requests. Even though I am very busy, I’m also feeling led to offer a three-day only Tarot special (details below). Please know that I don’t have any immediate scheduling availability, but for whatever reason, I feel called to radically reduce the price for just three days, between now and the 4th of July. I’ve also got not just one, but two upcoming Reiki classes this month, so please see below for all the different offerings.

JULY 2015 SPECIALS

$222 Mini-Coaching Packages

With so many people feeling pressured to shift right now, I wanted to offer a chance for extra, sustained support. Several clients have recently used up their mini-pack from the last time I offered this special, so it seemed like a good time to resurrect it. This three-pack of half hour sessions represents a $52 savings over the usual rate. Sessions can be scheduled weekly or as needed. They can address anything from career changes to relationships to esoteric skills, potential relocation, past life issues, and/or health concerns.

$222 if prepaid on or before 7/31/15. Please contact me to sign up.

$77 Medical Intuitive Readings

Lots of healing in the works these days! As such, the second July Special is a Medical Intuitive Session sale to help support people getting over that healing hump.

Medical Intuition is the ability to access information about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health through reading the energy field around the body. A Medical Intuitive Session decodes the message(s) from soul to body into language your conscious mind can understand and begin to address. (It is not meant to replace traditional medical treatment, but rather to empower your healing via whatever modality you ultimately choose.) Medical Intuitive Readings are normally $175 per hour or $90 per half hour.

Medical Intuitive sessions purchased today through 7/31/15, will be discounted to $77 per half hour, which can be doubled or tripled for longer sessions.

Please contact me to sign up.

THREE-DAY TAROT SPECIAL

This special has expired.

June 2015 Specials

JUNE 2015 SPECIALS

This month’s specials reflect requests and sharing from recent sessions and emails. The two specials actually complement each other well, since positive (yet dramatic) timeline shifts can feel a bit bumpy, while Reiki helps to smooth and ease transitions. Singly or together, I hope you find this month’s offerings supportive of the intense energies, longings and opportunities continuing to explode on the scene these days.

Timeline Tune-In and Tune-Up

This hour session helps you to recognize your likely trajectory based on current energy patterns, intentions, and habits … and then, I search for the closest parallel reality versions of “you” with very slight differences that lead to more preferred (and more varied/greater opportunities for) positive outcomes. The scan and download are actually easier for me to do than to explain here, but if you’ve ever seen the movie “Sliding Doors” with its alternate reality story lines that intersect at certain points throughout the film, I’ll be scanning you for the stickiest intersection points.

The reading gives you a heads up regarding the types of feelings, thoughts and experiences to watch for if you’re looking to sidestep onto a more positive timeline without needing to slog through linear time to get your desired life. These “timeline hops,” “portal points,” “reality jumps” — whatever you want to call them — are not only possible but powerful, and with awareness and practice, you can learn to surf such opportunities, charting your own course from current to next closest to preferred realities.

$133 if prepaid by 6/30/15. Please contact me to sign up.

$77 Reiki Sessions

With all the intensity flying around these days, it seems like a good time to run a Reiki special. Reiki is an ancient healing method rediscovered in the 19th century by the Japanese monk Dr. Mikao Usui. The “Rei” in Reiki stands for “universal” or “spiritual,” and the “ki” corresponds to the “life force energy” known as “Chi” or “prana” in other Eastern systems of healing and energy work such as feng shui, Tai Chi, Qigong, or yoga. Thus, Reiki refers to “universal life force energy,” “divinely directed healing energy,” or “life energy of a spiritual nature,” with an emphasis on subtle energy fields rather than the physical body. By working on all the different levels, Reiki helps the body to relax into a state that allows optimal self-healing.

Reiki sessions typically last one hour and occur at a distance, usually set to deliver while you’re sleeping and most receptive. If you prefer to be awake and meditating during your session, we can also schedule for a specific time that works for both of us. Gentleness and synchronicity are both hallmarks of Reiki sessions. If prepaid by 6/30/15, Reiki sessions are $77 instead of the usual $85. Please contact me to sign up.

Upcoming Reiki Certification Classes

If you’d prefer to learn how to provide Reiki for yourself and others, there’s still room in the June 20 Reiki Level 1 Certification Class in Goshen, IN and in the July 18 Reiki Level 1 Certification Class in Allentown, PA. Find details by clicking here. Please note that the early prepay discount deadline for the Goshen class expires on Saturday, June 6.

May Specials and June Workshops Reminder

Just a reminder that you have a few days left to sign up for May Specials. I have no scheduling spots left for May, but if you sign up through May 31st, I’ll honor the discounted rates through May 31st, 2016. This is a good time to stock up on sessions if you’d like some in reserve.

The June Reiki Level 1 Certification Class in Goshen, IN still has a couple spots remaining, and the Faery Workshop has one spot left. Those of you in PA, NJ, or NY still have a little while to sign up for the July 18 Reiki Level 1 Certification Class in Allentown, PA. The July class will be catered by an East Coast blog reader who generously offered to provide fresh, love-filled food for all attendees. The Faery class will also include some garden fresh goodies from our yard and gardens.

MAY 2015 SPECIALS

$44 Tarot Readings

Half hour tarot readings at 20% off the usual rate. Tarot readings offer an energetic check-in, the chance to ask questions about pending decisions or intentions, and represent a fun, yet powerful way to gain new perspective on relationships and challenges.

Tarot readings are particularly good for people who don’t know what kinds of questions to ask me; they just want some kind of guidance because they feel unsure of what’s coming or what to focus upon. Tarot also seems to benefit those people who have exceptionally good things coming their way, yet wonder if I might be “padding the reading” or “just saying what they want to hear.” The cards don’t lie. (Neither do I – but the cards seem that much more objective a medium for delivering good news.)

Please contact me if you’d like to sign up for this special. Offer valid if prepaid on or before May 31, 2015.

Intuitive Preparedness Check-In

This is a return of a popular 2014 special, which I feel called to highlight again now due to the variety of emails and comments I’ve received from clients and friends that “things just got too close to home.” Possibilities that seemed remote are suddenly showing up in their towns or among their social set, and people want to know how to maintain an optimistic vibration while also shoring up any weak spots. This special responds to many comments, questions and private emails requesting my take on the question “What can I do right now?” — for specific individuals, rather than general guidelines and suggestions.

This hour session gives you access to my own intuitive scan of what areas of focus will provide you the greatest payback and sense of abundance, peace and security, with the least amount of resistance. Those looking to make larger lifestyle shifts can ask me to scan various lifestyle, location and/or community options to see which ones fit best with your vibration and heart’s desires. You can also use our time together to discuss energetic/magickal protection and manifestation tools and techniques, along with troubleshooting your most pressing concerns in various areas of life, including finances, food security, faith/spirituality/soul nurturing, relationships and/or land, including “garden guidance.”

I feel so strongly about helping people take steps from fear, denial and overwhelm into abundance, joy and freedom, that I’m keeping this pricing a simple $123. As Tolkien said, “Little by little, one travels far.”

Please contact me if you’d like to sign up for this special. Offer valid if prepaid on or before May 31, 2015.

Last Few Days for April Specials, Plus Class Reminders

APRIL 2015 SPECIALS

45-Minute Medical Intuitive Readings for $133

I usually only offer hour or half-hour sessions, because they make for much simpler scheduling on my end; however, sometimes people have more than a half-hour’s worth of topics to discuss yet not quite an hour. This special is for anyone who would like more support and insights than we can cover in a half-hour but who doesn’t want to commit to an entire hour. (Save $42.) Offer valid if prepaid on or before April 30, 2015. Please contact me to sign up.

$77 Rune Readings

I sometimes write about working with Runes for protection or as creative building blocks of reality. For years, I have painted Runes into portal doors, used them for meditation, placed them on intention altars, and as shorthand for projecting certain qualities of energy across “time” and space. Occasionally, Runes come up during sessions as an easy way for someone to introduce a new vibration into their energy field, as a recommended symbol to include in a tattoo they’ve considered, or as a way to cultivate whatever subconscious associations a particular Rune evokes. Most people use Runes simply for divination, although I find that’s one of the more limited ways of embracing Runic energy. This half-hour reading offers whatever you’d like to learn from or about the Runes. It may be part Runic divination, part instruction, or perhaps a trigger for your own creativity. I decided to offer the session, because I get a lot of questions about “the best Rune to use for ____.”

Runic study takes many years, and several different systems of Runes exist, but you can use this reading as a Touchstone to find resource recommendations tailored to you and your needs and interests. You can also just see what comes up, treating it like a Tarot reading, which then spurs further discussion and intuitive insights. $77 if prepaid on or before April 30, 2015. Please contact me to sign up.
