Why I Cannot Use a Cellphone

This article came through from a reader who prefers to remain anonymous. Her story is not unique, but she offers an articulate description and chronology of wifi and electromagnetic radiation/pollution.

Hi Laura, Here is an article for you to consider sharing. I would prefer that my name not be used, however, for obvious reasons once you read it below. Thanks for your consideration.

Why I Cannot Use a Cellphone

Here is my response to the pending legislation by telecom companies to discontinue landlines. This is being proposed despite the fact that wireless radiation has been classified as a class 2B possible carcinogen by the World Health Organization and a probable carcinogen by the EPA.

I would not be able to function without a landline. Because of the previous cumulative effects of radiation (cell phones and other EMR) on my body from using a cell phone and living 150’ from a disguised cell tower, I can no longer tolerate any sort of prolonged wireless radiation, Wifi or smart meter radiation. I have been forced to live in the outback where there is no cell tower.

I am a PR professional who used a cell phone exclusively for 8 years until it made me dizzy and nauseous whenever I held it to my head. My ear on the side of my head with which I used this cell phone is now permanently numb. I count myself as lucky to have given up this cell phone before I developed a brain tumor. Please note that more and more people are now winning legal battles due to the brain tumor damage they have received from cell phone wireless radiation.

Wireless cell radiation (EMR/RF) is now categorized by the insurance industry as a high risk: A major Swiss insurance industry report featuring emerging risk topics acknowledges recent reports of courts ruling in favor of claimants who have experienced health damage from mobile phones.

People like me are the canaries in the mine shaft. Wireless microwave radiation poisoning has been undeniably shown in 4,000+ peer-reviewed academic studies to damage DNA, destroy the blood/brain barrier, and interfere with the production of melatonin by the pineal gland, along with a host of other effects. Living beings can only handle the effects of radiation so long before their immune system gives out. (See: for a partial selection of scientific studies.)

Because corporate-owned PR firms and media are blocking the flow of this information, I have spent a great deal of time sharing with others the numerous academic studies that prove wireless radiation is toxic. Because of my advocacy work, I have been harassed and threatened by telecom industry shills. However, my ethics and Ivy League education demand that I continue to insist that the truth about cumulative wireless radiation be acknowledged. If we give in any further to this monopoly of money, we will be directly harming the public for all time. You know the tobacco and asbestos stories.

Granted, the companies that make wireless technology are now among the most powerful in the world, making trillions of dollars every year and paying little to no Federal income tax. They use vast PR networks, media/political control, and advertising to hide the proven effects of wireless radiation poisoning from us.

The kicker is that telephone landlines use less than one third as much energy to operate as cell phones do. With 6 billion cell phones, imagine the energy we could save on this planet if we decide to use safe fiber optic hard wiring instead of radiation to communicate with one another.

I am convinced that the unending stream of wireless microwave radiation emitting from millions of cell towers across the planet is contributing significantly to global warming. Now industrial-level WiFi is being installed in the ceilings of classrooms and businesses across America in order to sell massive quantities of wireless technology. However, hard wiring computer technology with fiber optics would be better quality, cheaper to operate, and without the effects of microwave poisoning day in and day out on us and our children.

Alternatives to dangerous wireless technology are disappearing fast. These days it is almost impossible to buy landline phones, cable TV boxes, computer mice and routers, utility meters, etc. etc, that don’t emit wireless radiation. Although there is a large lobby for the needs of the disabled here in America, phone booths are rarely available to the many people like me who have been injured by wireless radiation and cannot use cell phones.

After arriving home recently from vacation, I found out that my mother was on her deathbed. I had tried to check up on her health condition while on vacation, but every phone booth between Southern California and Utah was disconnected or broken. Although I immediately took the red eye to New York to see her, she passed on before I got there. In order to fly to New York, I had to endure a radiation-emitting full body scanner and WiFi emitting from the confines of every airplane. After getting back from my Mom’s funeral, I developed a painful burning condition in my spine for months–another symptom of wireless poisoning.

The phone booths are now all gone. It is inconceivable that the increasing number of people who are being injured by cumulative wireless poisoning could function without landlines. Do not take away the landlines so trillion dollar companies can make a few more bucks. And although cell phones are touted as great for emergencies, landlines are the only device that will still work when the power goes out.

Overgiving, Resentment and Breast Cancer

I’ve now had numerous people contact me with the same general follow-up question to my Medical Intuitive Observations about Fukushima Radiation post. Essentially, these people have asked if I’m aware of the connection between “overgiving” and breast cancer, and — given this connection — shouldn’t I amend what I’ve said about potential radiation and breast cancer in Marin County?

I hope this article further illustrates what I’ve attempted to share. Again, please take what resonates and leave the rest. These articles are based upon my own observations and thousands of Medical Intuitive and Life Coaching sessions, which began before I even started offering these readings professionally in 2001. Although I’ve done a lot of readings and helped a lot of friends and family members over the decades, I do not claim to have “the one right answer” all the time. It’s always difficult to write a catch-all article for anything, due to so many individual facets and layers of living and healing; however, when I publish general observations, I do so from a place of very obvious (to me) long-term patterns. I have not worked with every breast cancer survivor, nor do I know everyone in Marin County.

Neither do I intimately know the inner process of every single frustrated artist, caregiver or person who feels called to collect healing modalities without paying the blessings forward in some tangible offerings to community. I don’t suggest that everyone needs to become a healer, but rather that the process of joyfully offering your deepest, heartfelt gifts to the world — whatever these are — has a noticeable, consistent healing effect. A commenter on Zen Gardner’s site referenced the Gospel of Thomas: “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” That’s essentially my observation here and in the Fukushima article. Radiation acts as a catalyst and an amplifier of whatever dynamic already exists inside.

In response to the idea that breast cancer comes from “overgiving,” I’ve replied enough times now that it feels right to share this publicly:

Yes, I am familiar with the overgiving thesis; however, in my own work, I have noticed that it is the RESENTMENT that causes the toxicity, regardless of the actual degree of overgiving. If someone resents what she perceives as overgiving, then sometimes that turns into a need to “get this off my chest.” When the soul cries out for change but the person refuses to shift the energies, then the body expresses a symbolic then literal “need” for mastectomy.

I have known extreme narcissists to develop the same pattern of breast cancer because they felt the resentment, even when the woman was actually quite an energy vampire in relationships. The perception of overgiving is much more relevant than the actual quantity of giving. Many times the perception is correct, but I find it so interesting (and consistent) about the resentment. All that talk of “joyful giving” is really a good and healthy thing — if you can’t give joyfully, then there comes a point where it is healthier not to give (and to be honest with yourself about why you feel you cannot do so). Otherwise, both soul and body will demand changes to the attitude/circumstances around giving.

Breast Health: Some Medical Intuitive Observations

Medical Intuition is the ability to access information from a person’s body and surrounding energy field, which exists on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. With so many women suffering from breast cancer or monthly breast pain, I thought I’d offer some Medical Intuitive insights on breast health. In this area, prevention works especially well. I’ve divided this post into physical, mental, emotional and spiritual patterns I frequently see affecting breast health. Please keep in mind that I do not intend this article as medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. I’m only sharing patterns I’ve noticed in nearly eight years nearly 13 years as a practicing Medical Intuitive.

Physical Factors

1) Diet. The American Cancer Society recognizes the role of antioxidants from fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds as protective against free radical damage associated with cancer. Some studies have also shown correlations between heavy meat-eating, colon cancer, and breast cancer. For a comprehensive list of FAQ’s about the ACS research on various foods and supplements, please click here.

Eating lower on the food chain does seem to help people, but I have known plenty of vegetarians and vegans who still got breast cancer. Clearly diet doesn’t change everything, but it does seem to offer some protection. I have noticed some correlation between following a 100% raw vegan diet (organic when possible) and the cessation of monthly PMS-related breast pain.

2) Vitamin D-deficiency. Dr. Mercola and Dr. John Jacob Cannell have both raised the awareness of Vitamin D’s importance in overall health, including breast cancer reduction. Having worked with several intuitive clients for whom Vitamin D deficiency came up as an issue for testing, I’ll say that so far, my Medical Intuitive observations seem to agree with what these doctors share; however, I’ll let them explain the science!

3) Self-Breast-Massage. Sluggish lymph causes much of the pain of tender breasts, and it can also put people more at risk for future breast cancer. You can get that lymph flowing through brisk, bouncy walks without a bra, jumping on a rebounder, or by doing a self-breast-massage. This short YouTube video shows you exactly which movements will pump the lymph out of your breasts in a healthy way. Highly recommended!

4 ) Reiki. This ancient form of energy healing operates on all the levels, including physical. Because stress activates potential for all health issues, especially those affecting the breasts, Reiki’s relaxing effect supports breast health. As a non-invasive treatment, Reiki also allows a woman with breast cancer to receive physical nurturing without the risk of spreading tumors. For more on Reiki for breast cancer, please click here.

Mental/Emotional Factors

1) As part of the Heart Chakra, the breasts house our deepest emotional wounds and our greatest capacity for love. Resentment aggravates the breast tissues as much as physical factors like caffeine! Practice forgiveness for breast health. If you have trouble letting go, you might find this meditation helpful.

2) Combat Candida. You might wonder why I list Candida here instead of under “Physical Factors.” True, yeast overgrowth affects the physical body, but it also thrives in thought and emotional patterns that negatively affect breast health. Candida resonates with “victim.” A particular kind of victim: the kind of victim that feels overburdened by life, that feels like everyone walks all over her. The kind of victim that carries a lot of unexpressed resentments and worries. The kind of victim who just can’t seem to move beyond the inertia of current life circumstances.

Candida thrives in this environment! You can take all the pau d’arco tea, probiotics, and oil of oregano you like, but if you don’t change the mental/emotional patterns, you’ll have a very difficult time ousting your Candida. Meanwhile, you’ll have all that grief, mild depression, and resentment festering in your Heart Chakra. Not good!

If you catch yourself acting like an oppressed person, shift that energy immediately. You create your external world, and your experience of the external dramatically influences your internal terrain. For the sake of your breasts (and your happiness), take steps to move beyond your self-imposed limitations.

3) Get Creative. The breasts and arms extend from our hearts. Breasts produce milk to nurse babies, and arms produce artwork, healing, writing and hugs. The Heart Chakra wants to create. If you do not channel that creativity into some positive flow, the urge for creativity may not disappear. Cancer is a very creative disease.

Even if you’ve never painted before in your life; even if you’ve never considered yourself a healer: get some energy flowing through that Heart Chakra! Hug a stranger. Awaken your healing gifts. Embrace your desire to beautify your surroundings. Doing so may just save your boobs.

4) Love Your Breasts. While I have never read any official study on this topic, I have noticed that women who have difficulty accepting their breasts or femininity often develop breast cancer or other problems with the breasts.

Remember, the body responds to your thoughts, attitudes and the deepest longings of your soul. If the body hears that you hate your breasts, it may take you at your word and orchestrate a removal of them via mastectomy. As part of your Heart Chakra, the breasts listen very closely to the cries of the heart. If you want healthy breasts, let them know you love them. And let your softer, feminine side know that it’s ok to be a woman. In fact, it’s beautiful, and wonderful and you honor the breasts as two of those obviously feminine markers.

In February 2009, Rory Freedman of Skinny Bitch fame wrote a great post called Boobs. Go ahead; follow Rory’s lead. Release your inner diva and let those breasts know how much you love ‘em!

Spiritual Factors

Breast issues encourage humans to explore the tender realm of the heart as an evolutionary portal. Offering ourselves as channels for unconditional compassion for humanity, the galaxy and beyond supports the breasts. So does honoring Mother Earth. More than any other part of the body, breasts symbolize Motherhood. Awakening the Goddess within, loving Earth’s creatures and Nature, and cultivating a spirit of generosity all resonate with the wisdom and guidance of our breasts.

When we actively engage and listen to our bodies, they can speak in gentle whispers instead of screaming for our attention with pain or disease. With communication and love, body and soul become intimate, and we radiate their joy.

TSA, Radiation, Miso and Seaweed

UPDATE: I wrote this article in November 2010, before Fukushima. The studies remain valid, but as a precaution, I personally would not eat seaweed from Japan or the West Coast at this time. Please use your own inner guidance, as I am just sharing others’ research and my own experience, not offering medical advice here. Blessings!

I’m taking a packing break and this thought keeps running through my head. Regardless of your opinion of the legality, appropriateness or effectiveness of the TSA high powered radiation (naked body image) scanners, I wanted to share some information about miso and seaweed as antidotes to cancer-causing radiation levels. I’ve known about this connection since I began studying Macrobiotics in 2006:

“At the time of the world’s first plutonium atomic bombing, on August 9, 1945, two hospitals were literally in the shadow of the blast, about one mile from the epicenter in Nagasaki. American scientists declared the area totally uninhabitable for 75 years. At University Hospital 3000 patients suffered greatly from leukemia and disfiguring radiation burns. This hospital served its patients a modern fare of sugar, white rice, and refined white flour products. Another hospital was St. Francis Hospital, under the direction of Shinichiro Akizuki, M.D. Although this hospital was located even closer to the blast’s epicenter than the first, none of the workers or patients suffered from radiation sickness. Dr. Akizuki had been feeding his patients and workers brown rice, miso soup, vegetables and seaweed every day. The Roman Catholic Church—and the residents of Nagasaki—called this a modern day miracle. Meanwhile, Dr. Akizuki and his co-workers disregarded the American warning and continued going around the city of Nagasaki in straw sandals visiting the sick in their homes.

“Since the 1950s, Soviet weapons factories had been dumping wastes into Karachar Lake in Chelyabinsk, an industrial city 900 miles east of Moscow. Many local residents began to suffer from radiation symptoms and cancer. In 1985, Lidia Yamchuk and Hanif Sharimardanov, medical doctors in Chelyabinsk, changed their approach with patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma and other disorders associated with exposure to nuclear radiation. They began incorporating miso soup into their diet. They wrote: ‘Miso is helping some of our patients with terminal cancer to survive. Their blood improved as soon as they began to use miso daily.’

“Over a 25-year period, the Japanese Cancer Institute tested and tracked 260,000 subjects, dividing them into three groups. Group one ate miso soup daily, group two consumed miso two or three times a week, while group three ate no miso at all. The results were stark: those who had not eaten any miso showed a 50% higher incidence of cancer than those who had eaten miso.”

(The above is from an article called “Working Alchemy.”) You can read about the Seaweed Defense here. Those of you who, like me, love spirulina will be happy to know that during Chernobyl, Russian children were fed spirulina in order to combat the toxic effects of radiation. In addition to radiation, sea veggies and algae also chelate heavy metals and other toxins from the system. Just as they purify water, these algae and seaweeds can purify our blood.

I’m not suggesting people stop standing up for their rights; however, if you do find yourself going through TSA screenings, finding yourself some miso soup and/or sea vegetables (seaweed) can help your body deal with the effects of radiation.

Some common forms of seaweed include:

Nori (most often used as sushi wrappers)

Kombu (most often used to soften beans and make them more digestible; also a good skin softener when added to the bath)

Sea Palm (a crunchy, raw salad topper)

Wakame (a mild tasting seaweed, often used in miso soup, which helps balance female hormones)

Hijiki (also called Hiziki, a strong flavored seaweed that requires extensive soaking and/or cooking, Hijiki is loaded with calcium and will give you radiant skin)

Dulse (a reddish-brown colored seaweed, often found in flake form and used to create fish flavors in vegetarian/vegan dishes)

Kelp (often used as a salt replacement, kelp granules–and most seaweeds–are very high in iodine. Use cautiously if you are on thyroid medication)

With all the ocean pollution these days, you might wonder where to buy high quality, raw seaweeds. California’s Mendocino Coast has very little industry and thus cleaner water than most places. Ocean Harvest Sea Vegetables are recommended by my friend Cecilia of RawGlow. In addition to the many free recipes and videos on her blog and website, Cecilia has also created a Sea Vegetable Recipe EBooklet as a way to help people become braver about embracing the minerals and healing power of seaweed.

A few notes about seaweed:

1) If your skin tends to break out from fish or other high-iodine containing foods, you may want to lean more towards sea palm and wakame than dulse or kelp.

2) You can save the soak water of sea vegetables and then use it to flavor soups, savory smoothies, nut/seed spreads or as a base for cooking grains.

3) Sea vegetables and miso do contain lots of salt, and a little goes a long way. If you have high blood pressure or need to monitor sodium, make sure you factor in how much miso or sea weed you’re using.

4) Signs of having too much sodium can include swollen fingers, tension headaches and excessive thirst.

A few notes about miso:

1) For the Japanese, making miso is like making wine: there are many flavors ranging from light to rich and deep. Generally, the lighter the color the milder the taste. Before buying, get a sense of which flavors/colors your recipes call for. Although you can substitute miso colors, if a recipe specifies a particular type, a change in color will alter the end result.

2) Most miso is made from fermented soybeans mixed with a variety of grains, including barley and/or rice. You can also find chickpea miso if you wish to avoid soy.

3) Warm miso soup with chopped wakame makes a cozy start to the day, relaxing the stomach and easing digestion.

4) Never boil miso; doing so destroys the beneficial cultures. If a soup or cooked recipe calls for miso, you will generally want to mix it in at the very end, once the liquid has cooled enough to feel comfortable to the touch. Alternatively, you can mix the miso in a small glass of warm water and add right before serving.

I hope everyone has fun with these tips and flavors. Even without the TSA scanners, flying can expose you to higher than usual levels of radiation just by moving so much closer to the sun. Traveling with seaweed or enjoying a cup of miso soup at the airport or after a flight can keep your immune system and the rest of your body feeling nourished and supported.

If you’re flying for Thanksgiving, I wish you safe travels. And to everyone, a Happy Gratitude Day!
