September 2015 Specials and Classes

I awoke this morning from some curious dreams, which upon reflection, convinced me to extend one of last month’s specials and to offer the $77 Medical Intuitive Reading again. Many people ended up trying to turn the Intuitive Preparedness Check-In into a Medical Intuitive Reading, for which it was not designed. Based on my dreams and on session requests, clearly, people are feeling a need for support both in preparing for uncertain events and/or big shifts, as well as seeking guidance regarding long-term or intense health challenges. This month’s specials attempt to cover the gamut of those concerns.

Also, please note that due to the expansion next door, I still have room in both the Reiki 2 and the Reiki 3 (Master Teacher) Certification Classes on the 19th and 20th of this month. If you’ve done Reiki Level 1 or 2 and want to brush up or deepen your studies, this month offers a great chance to do so, and who knows? Maybe you’ll even get a custom prepared, garden fresh lunch out of the deal, as I seem to receive culinary inspiration before people arrive so they can enjoy this massive garden bounty, too. This past weekend’s students left with full bellies and grocery bags full of produce. 😉

Intuitive Preparedness Check-In

This is a return of a popular 2014 special, which I feel called to highlight again now due to so many people asking me about the likelihood of a “September Event,” along with so many people finally sensing new openings and opportunities that once seemed very far away. People want to know how to maintain an optimistic vibration and how to thrive while also shoring up any weak spots. This special responds to many comments, questions and private emails requesting my take on the question “What can I do right now?” — for specific individuals, rather than general guidelines and suggestions.

This hour session gives you access to my own intuitive scan of what areas of focus will provide you the greatest payback and sense of abundance, peace and security, with the least amount of resistance. Those looking to make larger lifestyle shifts can ask me to scan various lifestyle, location and/or community options to see which ones fit best with your vibration and heart’s desires. You can also use our time together to discuss energetic/magickal protection and manifestation tools and techniques, along with troubleshooting your most pressing concerns in various areas of life, including finances, food security, faith/spirituality/soul nurturing, relationships and/or land, including “garden guidance.”

I feel so strongly about helping people take steps from fear, denial and overwhelm into abundance, joy and freedom, that I’m keeping this pricing a simple $123. As Tolkien said, “Little by little, one travels far.”

Please contact me if you’d like to sign up for this special. Offer valid if prepaid on or before August 31, 2015 September 30, 2015.

$77 Medical Intuitive Readings

Medical Intuition is the ability to access information about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health through “reading” the energy field around the body. A Medical Intuitive Session decodes the message(s) from soul to body into language your conscious mind can understand and begin to address. (It is not meant to replace traditional medical treatment.) Medical Intuitive Readings are normally $175 per hour or $90 per half hour. Medical Intuitive sessions purchased today through 9/30/15, will be discounted to $77 per half hour, which can be doubled or tripled for longer sessions. Please contact me to sign up, and remember to include your time zone!

UPCOMING REIKI CERTIFICATION CLASSES IN GOSHEN, INDIANA

Reiki is an ancient healing method rediscovered in the 19th century by the Japanese monk Dr. Mikao Usui. The “Rei” in Reiki stands for “universal” or” spiritual,” and the “ki” corresponds to the “life force energy” known as “Chi” or “prana” in other Eastern systems of healing and energy work or yoga. It offers an easy, non-draining way to provide hands-on or distant healing through energy exchange and profound relaxation, allowing the recipient’s body, mind, soul and spirit to access their own deepest healing. Reiki can be practiced professionally, or as an adjunct to one’s own spiritual path and holistic lifestyle. I teach the Usui Method of Reiki, which is the most traditional style from which all other types derive.

About the teacher: Laura Bruno, MA, RMT has taught Reiki Certification classes around the United States since 2002. An internationally known Medical Intuitive and Intuitive Life Coach, Laura has authored three books and hundreds of articles on natural healing, mind-body-spirit-soul connections, raw food, and intuition. She has spoken at health conferences and has appeared as a guest on numerous radio shows and blogs.

Gaye Levy ~ Pros and Cons of Being a Suburban Prepper

I’m reposting this piece written by Gaye of Backdoor Survival, because she addresses many of the questions I hear in sessions from people disturbed by the direction of the world these days, particularly in the US. I like her practical approach, and she’s right: not everyone can (or wants to) move to the country, but that doesn’t preclude preparedness. Regular blog readers know I’m a huge fan of community. If you can’t find it, consider building it through shared projects, rituals, or activities you find through Meetup.com or local groups. It could be a hiking or camping group, a potluck group, or fellow humans at the dog park.

Not mentioned by Gaye, but a topic I find often with clients and friends, is also the idea of being strategically placed in a less than desirable location. With my line of work, I could easily live in the middle of nowhere, as long as I had phone and internet access; however, life circumstances (and six months of dreams back in 2009) have very deliberately placed me in a spot I would not have ever considered living on my own. It’s taken awhile to get used to things — especially the factory across the street, the flat land, and a fairly high percentage of generational poverty — but David and I also have a much larger community of incredibly creative, innovative, Earth-friendly, grounded, and caring people here than we’ve found anywhere else. Each time we go out, we’re struck by the paradox of where we live, and by just how many good people have been called here to bring forth unusual and amazing things.

For whatever reason, we’ve all felt called here, and I know this is true of others in “ugly” or impoverished areas. Sometimes you’re there, because that’s your Dharma, in which case, it’s safer and more abundant and fulfilling for you to be there than anywhere else. We live in some wild times, but the potential of these times also exceeds expectations. As Daisy Luther says, “Bloom where you’re planted.” Get to know what seeds — on all levels, including metaphorical — will grow where you live, and scatter some more. It’s also kind of like that song, “If you can’t be with the one you love, then love the one you’re with.” You may even find — as David and I have — that, gosh(en) darn it, you do love where you’re planted, odd and imperfect though it is.

Here’s Gaye:

Pros and Cons of Being a Suburban Prepper

“Everyone who lives in the city is going to die when the SHTF.”

Have you ever been on a preparedness website and read that? It makes my blood boil, and not just because it’s a negative and discouraging thing to say. I am also not convinced that it’s correct.  Wherever you live, there are pros and cons, and your job as a prepper is to maximize the positive aspects of your location while taking steps to minimize the negative aspects.

This is especially true when it comes to the suburban prepper.

The Pros and Cons of Being a Suburban Prepper | Backdoor Survival

Although the mindset of those living in a rural community is, by necessity, more oriented toward self-reliance, living in the cities or suburbs is a fact of life for many.  Those sites or commenters which blithely tell people to pack up and head for the country are completely unrealistic.

There are many reasons that relocating is impractical for lots of folks who live in urban areas. Here are a few:

  • Elderly family members they care for who won’t relocate
  • Kids in school
  • Health concerns/medical care
  • Jobs – in this economy it is a bold move to let go of a sure thing
  • Owing more on a mortgage than you can sell your house for
  • Custody orders for minor children
  • The expense of a major relocation

So while the internet may act as though “moving” is an easy solution, there’s a lot more to it.

Because you don’t know the circumstances of others, it’s never a good idea to disparage where they live. While you may be very happy with your current location, that doesn’t actually mean it’s better than other locations. Each setting has its own benefits, and often you don’t realize what they are unless you’ve lived there. Comprehensive preparedness planning can make a home in the suburbs or city safe and well-stocked.

So, whether you live in a place with authoritarian laws, high population density, not enough space for self-reliance activities, or unfortunate weather conditions, the fact remains: you need to make the best of where you are. Every place on the planet has pros and cons.

In her recent article, “Bloom Where You’re Planted: Prepping to Survive Where You Are Right Now,” my friend Daisy Luther wrote:

While your current situation may be less than ideal, you have to remember that very few locations are actually perfect for prepping. Nearly anywhere you live will be subject to some type of extreme weather, be it crippling cold, blazing heat, drought, tornadoes, or hurricanes. Chemical spills can taint water supplies anywhere. Riots and civil unrest can occur outside of the big city.

The point is, to borrow an old saying, you just have to bloom where you’re planted.

There are many things you can do to create a viable preparedness plan wherever you happen to live.  Apartment dwellers at the top of a city high rise, folks in the middle of the desert, those in a beachfront condo, and people in HOA-ruled suburban lots all have to examine their situations, figure out their pros and cons, and work towards resolving what they can.  With some pre-planning, there is a lot you can overcome if you have the right mindset.  I suspect there are just as many (and probably far more) preppers living in the ‘burbs than there are living in perfect rural locations, with a lake, 10 acres of cultivated farmland, and an off-grid house.

Stop waiting until you move to the perfect location. Make preparations for the situation you have, not the situation you want.

The Pros of Living in an Urban Location

Urban locations are not without their benefits.  Here are a few pros for areas with higher populations.

1. There is ease of availability for supplies.

If you live out in the middle of Timbuktu, a stock-up trip takes a lot of planning.  I live on an island that requires a ferry ride to get to the mainland for shopping. If we needed to purchase last minute supplies, it would be a lot more difficult than just making a quick dash to the store.

For others who live remotely, “going to the store” can mean several hours in the car for the round trip, making it impractical to hit a good sale unless you have an outing planned during that time anyway. For those who are nearby, running across town to save some money is much more realistic.

2. A higher population means that you are less likely to have to go it alone.

Good neighbors can be a blessing. Do you have a friendly neighbor who would take responsibility for your kids if a disaster struck? In the event of civil unrest, your community can band together to combine skills and keep the neighborhood safe.

Ferfal, who wrote about surviving the Argentinian economic collapse, said that living in the country was absolutely not a guarantee of safety, because the isolation made families easier targets for home invasions.

3. In the event of an all-out disaster scenario, there are more resources for scavenging.

I’m not talking about a short-term incident of civil unrest with people looting televisions. But once you realize a situation has become long-term and that the way we lived before has ended, you may decide that it’s time to make a supply run to places which have been abandoned.

Scavenging is very different from looting! This will be easier, not to mention safer, if it’s closer to home.

4. Smaller spaces are easier to protect.

If it came down to just you and your family, do you feel like you could properly defend multiple acres from the unprepared? It takes a lot of manpower to cover fences and access points for that much land. However, a well-fenced suburban lot can be adequately guarded by only 1 or 2 people. With some creative planning,  you can be far more self-reliant than you would imagine in small spaces.

5. Urban areas are less likely to deal with specific scenarios.

Things like wildfires rarely threaten urban areas, but those living out in the secluded forest are far more at risk. As well, there are a number of predators the further you get from civilization. If you were to encounter a medical emergency, it takes someone in the country substantially longer to get help than it does someone in the city.

The Cons of an Urban Environment

Even with the benefits mentioned above, of course, there are also valid reasons that so many preppers strive to avoid living in the city. To be absolutely clear, while I don’t think everyone has to live in the boondocks, I do feel like the suburbs are somewhat safer than being right downtown.

Here are a few negative points to urban living:

1. When you live in the city, you’re more easily contained and controlled.

In the event of a martial law scenario, you will be far easier to corral if you are one of the people densely packed in an area that can be road blocked and guarded. Door-to-door searches for supplies or weapons can be much more efficiently undertaken in the city than they would be in a place where the homes are several miles apart.

2. Large population density means more competition for potentially limited resources.

While there are more resources to be had in an urban area, there are also more people looking for those resources. This means that if you are in competition for those resources, you either have to be early and get them before someone else does, or you must be more forceful than the other people going after those supplies.

3. The mob mentality can be very dangerous.

A mob mentality can be contagious. When swept up in an angry group, people will do things they’d never ordinarily do, and this can mean great peril. Think about the Black Friday shopping sprees where folks trample others just to get the deal on a bigger TV. Now imagine those people are hungry and they know you have food you aren’t sharing. You get the idea.

4. If you live in a high rise without direct access to the outdoors, it can be difficult to be self-reliant.

If you have a balcony, you can manage to grow some food for yourself. However, if you live in an apartment without any outdoor space at all, things get a lot trickier. That means you are unable to have micro livestock for protein, you probably have limited storage space for food and water, and growing vegetables will be difficult.  Without outdoor space, sanitation becomes more difficult as well.

5. City life is expensive.

Generally speaking, living in the city is a lot pricier than living in the country. Because of access to jobs, cultural activities, and educational facilities, places in town are in much higher demand. When you are spending double the amount on rent or mortgage, it can be harder to set aside money for prepping.

The Final Word

The fact is, we live where we live. There are many more people in our country living in suburban and urban areas, and lots of them are preppers. Disparaging the place where another chooses to live is short-sighted. Most of us weren’t born preppers, and we when we wake up and see the light, we can’t change our entire lives overnight. Besides that, there are numerous issues that can keep us in a location regardless of whether or not it’s ideal.

Before looking down on a person who lives in a place that you might consider undesirable, stop and think of all the reasons it may be necessary for them to remain there. And remember, country homesteads are not immune to disaster, either.

Wherever you live, take steps now to make the best of it. Find resources, build your stockpile, and prepare. No place is perfect and we can all improve our chances, regardless of where we live.

Enjoy your next adventure through common sense and thoughtful preparation!

Corbett Report ~ Solutions: Guerrilla Gardening

Best Corbett Report ever!

I have previously seen many of the food industry and guerrilla gardening clips, but I love how they’ve put this together. The last 4.5 minutes with Joel Salatin are particularly worthwhile: “Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly — at first.” True to James Corbett’s New Year’s Resolution to report news that’s working and solution-oriented news that changes the world for the better, James himself commits to learning how to garden, even if he faces challenges in the beginning.

January 2015 Specials

JANUARY 2015 SPECIALS

Intuitive Preparedness Check-In

This is a return of a popular 2014 special, which I feel called to highlight again now. This special responds to many comments, questions and private emails requesting my take on the question “What can I do right now?” — for specific individuals, rather than general guidelines and suggestions. With so many people feeling the structures and safety nets of the old world slip away, clients, friends and blog readers continue to voice concerns that preparedness strategies seem too overwhelming even to contemplate, let alone implement.

You can also use our time together to discuss energetic/magickal protection and manifestation tools and techniques, along with troubleshooting your most pressing concerns in various areas of life, including finances, food security, faith/spirituality/soul nurturing, relationships and/or land.

I feel so strongly about helping people take steps from fear, denial and overwhelm into abundance, joy and freedom, that I’m keeping this pricing a simple $123. As Tolkien said, “Little by little, one travels far.”

Please contact me if you’d like to sign up for this special. Offer valid if prepaid on or before January 31, 2015.

Return of the $77 Past Life Quickie

Another “oldie” but goodie. 😉

With the veils thinning, so many more people have begun to experience what I call “past life bleed-through.” Dreams, hunches, visions, flashes … however the suspected past life awareness arrives, it can feel unsettling, exciting and/or cause obsessive questions. This half-hour reading allows people to ask persistent questions, or to have a check-in regarding the most pressing karmic issues presenting themselves right now. Yes, this can include past life relationships with animal friends. I don’t normally offer Past Life Readings in a half-hour format, but I wanted to make this available to the larger numbers of people wondering about previous lifetimes and relationships. If you’d like to double this special for the full hour, just let me know in your scheduling request. Offer valid if prepaid on or before January 31, 2015.

Reskilling for Sustainable Living: Ways to Learn New Skills

As we approach that time of New Year’s Resolutions, you might want to consider reskilling — moving forward by looking backwards, acquiring old fashioned skills that are “new” to you. David and I and many of our local friends have been consciously reskilling for years. We find the process both fun and empowering. This post tells you how to get started if you feel led this way.

The Druid's Garden

Everyone, to some extent, is a product of their culture. Our culture’s formal education system teaches a set of skills that are claimed to be beneficial and practical for functioning in present society. Certain sets of skills are privileged, and others are simply not taught, and in some cases, skill sets that are deemed no longer relevant are lost from the collective knowledge of many communities and families. Unfortunately, many of the skills of the past that are needed to help us transition to a lower-carbon and lower-fossil fuel society have been lost as newer generations weren’t interested in learning them or because these skills are no longer part of any community or family educational system.  This is where the concept of reskilling can come in.

What is reskilling?

“Reskilling” is one of the terms that often comes up in the sustainability and permaculture communities. The concept of reskilling is…

Two More Weeks for November Specials + Classes Forming

Just a reminder that you have two more weeks to take advantage of the November Specials.

So many people asked me to make an exception and extend the October 2014 Specials for them or for a loved one whom they’ve told about their own session(s) that I decided to extend both October Specials through November 2014. Clearly, these specials address pressing needs right now, and the brand new Intuitive Preparedness Check-In sessions last month went really well. I enjoyed helping people move from panic and unease into a greater sense of confidence and focus. With all the health challenges arising right now, I’m also happy to offer the Medical Intuitive sessions at a discount so more people can afford the guidance and support. Continued blessings….

December will (most likely) have new ones, despite the popularity of this set, so if you’d like them, please remember to order in November.

Jon Rappoport ~ Ebola: What Op is Being Planned for Western Nations?

I appreciate Jon presenting the two scenarios below, as clearly from all the media hype, “they’re” planning something. Like Jon, I don’t necessarily buy into the fact that it would be “Ebola” per se, but since we don’t really know what they’re up to, having a strong immune system and knowledge/supplies on hand for detoxing chemicals and/or potentially mandatory vaccines seems wise. I posted a comment the other day to the effect that people totally relying only on Vitamin C “because it absolutely cures Ebola” show a strange picking and choosing of when they do or do not believe the media. If you don’t believe reports that Ebola’s so “deadly” and “widespread,” then why do you even believe it’s Ebola in the first place? This dynamic was one of the inspirations for my post about “Dealing with That Which You Might Not Know.” Of course, that post applies to many things, not just this media circus.

As for ramifications of either of these scenarios, I would just suggest having at least a few weeks’ supply of bottled water,  food, toilet paper, natural hand sanitizer, supplements/essential oils, and anything else you feel you absolutely need on hand. With all the weather anomalies, poisoned water events, and various police state trial runs for “shelter in place” it’s always smart to have some backups on hand, in your home, just in case you’re not allowed to leave it.

If we can believe reports from Africa, some cities have been quarantined with people not allowed out of their homes. Whether true, necessary or not, this sort of thing has already happened in the US after the Boston Marathon and in smaller trial runs elsewhere. Last winter, for example, most of Indiana was on lock down “due to dangerous weather.” If you got caught on the street during the lock down phase and you weren’t an emergency responder or en route to emergency care, you could have been arrested and/or fined up to $5,000. I can vouch for this, because it was broadcast all over the news and internet here in Elkhart County, although for a much shorter duration than many other parts of Indiana.

We don’t need to buy into the fear or hype in order to recognize potential complications/inconveniences and prepare for them. No need to panic when you know you have what you need on hand.

Blessings, love, courage and discernment … Laura

Jon Rappoport ~ Ebola: What Op is Being Planned for Western Nations?

In this article, I’m not going to try to recapitulate everything I’ve written about Ebola so far.

I’ll outline two possible scenarios for the near future in Western nations.

Scenario 1 and Modified Scenario 1.

Both would be planned ops.

#1: Announcement: a vaccine is available. Authorities will declare who should take it. In an extreme situation, people in certain sectors will be commanded to take it. And if they don’t, they will be quarantined, regardless of their health status.

Quarantines in selected areas would be enforced by police and troops stationed on streets, taking people to their homes, ordering them to stay in their homes. In those areas, businesses would be ordered to close.

Flights in and out of selected areas would be shut down.

The vaccine would be called safe, “according to limited tests,” and “less risky than Ebola.” People who fall ill or worse as a result of the vaccine would tend to be labeled as Ebola cases—“the onset of the disease was more rapid than anticipated.”

“It’s the disease, not the vaccine.”

As part of the overall scenario, Ebola case numbers will be grossly exaggerated. In fact, most cases will be casually diagnosed from visible and general flu-like symptoms—eyeball diagnoses made by doctors and nurses at clinics, hospitals, and offices.

Blood samples taken to confirm these people’s diagnosis, at labs, will shockingly, to a large degree, show no presence of Ebola—but this fact will be covered up, as it was in the case of Swine Flu in 2009 and SARS in 2003.

If no vaccine is released, then the pharmaceutical profit center will focus on medicines that “fight viruses.” These drugs will be toxic and have significant adverse effects. Again, patients who fall ill will be labeled “Ebola rapid-onset.”

Here is Modified Scenario #1:

It can be characterized by the after-op wrap-up: “We in the West escaped by the skin of our teeth. We almost had an uncontrollable nightmare on our hands. But thanks to public-health measures and the tracking of suspected cases, we averted doom…this time.” Heroes named and applauded.

No widespread quarantines. No major troop presence.

In that case, the main target of the op would turn out to be, as it is now, the West African countries. Borders sealed, chaos and massive quarantines inside, debilitation and death from a number of ongoing and long-term causes, none of which really have anything to do with Ebola:

Severe malnutrition; starvation; war; poverty; industrial pollution; contaminated water supplies; stolen farm land; overcrowding; prior toxic vaccine campaigns for yellow fever, polio, meningitis; toxic medical drugs.

All adding up to: destruction of immune systems, after which any germ passing through the territory accelerates dying. Ebola, cholera, flu, pneumocystis, measles, etc. Ebola itself is not the threat.

And if all that is not enough—perhaps the intentional introduction of a virtually undetectable chemical(s) that debilitates and kills for a limited period of time and then dissipates. The victims, of course, will be labeled “Ebola.”

Meanwhile, through brokered IMF “assistance” deals and other backroom agreements—with the West African population too weak to resist—outside financiers, investors, and corporations will expand their stranglehold over the rich mineral resources and land of those countries.

My best guess at this time is we will see Modified Scenario #1, the “by the skin of our teeth we escaped” op. Western nations will not be said to be overrun with Ebola. There will not be massive and widespread quarantines in all nations.

However, enough cases will be announced to scare people.

“We had a brush with disaster. It was a close call. A few more ‘links in the chain’ and we would have had a firestorm on a global scale.”

“Therefore, in the future, listen very closely to the medical experts. Do what they tell you to do immediately. Take your medicines. Get your vaccines, all of them, according to public-health mandated schedules.”

“Those leaders who are running and monitoring health insurance programs around the world should insist that delivering medical care is contingent on recipients taking their vaccines and other drugs as ordered and prescribed.”

Both Scenario #1 and its modified version are sheer reality-invention for the helpless, the mindless, the dupes, the pawns, the suckers, the rubes, and the merely uninformed.

As always, there is a vital relationship between a) those who know the truth and make it known, and b) the merely uninformed.

The number of people who wake up and realize what the op is, and refuse to participate—as they did successfully during the Swine Flu dud—can turn the tables and win.

If there is an X-factor here, you may find it through predictions of Ebola case numbers by the CDC (and the World Health Organization). If they back off a bit and modulate their estimates in a downward direction, you’ll pretty much know that at worst, this will be a “skin of our teeth” op.

If the CDC keeps doubling down with its “1 million Ebola cases” insanity, we could be in for a rocky ride. The CDC always lies. But if they keep these enormous predictive lies in play, it could be a clue the US government intends to fake a whole lot of Ebola.

And that’s what I’m talking about. Fakery.

A Letter to Our Mayor

I just sent the following letter to our Mayor. Please feel free to copy and modify for your own use if you feel so led. (I should note that our sewage system is incredibly wasteful and non-Earth friendly. It is my hope that in considering such plans “for disaster” that saner, more eco-friendly alternatives become more mainstream. We could be using “waste” to enrich our compost. We could be honoring sacred Water by not polluting it with every flush.)

Dear Mayor ____,

[Introductory comments and pleasantries]

I understand, per the planners, that the City has backup generators for the water and sewer system in the event of a city-wide blackout. While this would help for ordinary outages such as storms or winter weather, I’m writing with concerns about having no plan in place in the event of a longer term outage. Specifically, I refer to the May 2013 Congressional Report: “Electric Grid Vulnerability” as a likely terror target, as well as various scientific warnings about the possibility of another Carrington Event (or worse) from a coronal mass ejection/solar flare knocking out the power grid beyond any kind of timely repair. Here’s the Congressional Report for reference regarding grid security vulnerability: http://democrats.energycommerce.house.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Report-Electric-Grid-Vulnerability-2013-5-21.pdf . Here is a link to a Colorado solar scientist warning policy makers of the likelihood of another devastating solar flare: Scientist Sounds Alarm Over Solar Storms. Given society’s extreme dependence on the electric grid, this kind of likely but off-the-radar event could have severe fallout. In such a case — which those who’ve studied the situation agree is way more likely and far-reaching than most people would imagine — backup generators would only last so long before city sanitation would need to implement some ready alternatives.

I know that for a variety of reasons discussing alternative sanitation or a complete grid-down scenario are not mainstream topics; however, in the event that something like this would happen, it would be good if someone in a position of authority had at least researched the possibility and brainstormed potential solutions. If the grid never fails due to terrorism, glitches or solar flares, great — but those in the know seem to think it very easily could. If the grid does get destroyed for longer than the backup generators last and no one has considered alternatives, then the situation would spiral out of control fast. I’m not suggesting this become main policy, but I would hope anyone responsible for engineering waste disposal would spend at least a bit of time playing “What if?” given that both scientists and those tasked with studying the security of the electric grid have concluded an extended disruption very possible. Mainstream media has even begun to warn of ISIS threats to the American power grid: New ISIS threat: America’s electric grid; blackout could kill 9 of 10 | WashingtonExaminer.com .

The Humanure Handbook is a good place to start for off-grid sanitation. I have a copy to loan out if anyone in charge would like to borrow it. I would want it returned, though. My main concern is that our city should have a backup plan all set to roll out in the event of grid-down. Once people have begun improperly to dispose of waste, then things like cholera, hepatitis and e. coli start spreading in exponential, out of control ways. Though inconceivable to most people, this sort of crisis is exactly the time when a city would most need decisive leadership. Beginning the research process after the event will be too late, particularly since the internet and transportation/delivery of materials would not be available under such circumstances.

I would be happy to discuss this in person with you or with whomever you believe should be preparing for what scientists and Congress have deemed a likely scenario. Hopefully, we will avoid it, but if it happens, we need a plan in place before so that we can have immediate implementation and compliance. The alternatives of delayed action or no action are not pretty.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Laura Bruno

Lee Harris ~ April 2014 Energy Forecast

Another uplifting and calming message from Lee Harris. This one’s particularly in alignment with the recent Joanna Macy post. “The more centered and stable we are able to stay, the more ready we are for anything that planet Earth is going to throw our way.” “Are you living in the future, or are you living in the now?”
