Timothy Glenn ~ Patience: Still the Prime Virtue

Here’s a very “timely” one from my good friend, Timothy Glenn.

Patience: Still the Prime Virtue

By Timothy Glenn

We’ve heard it throughout the ages, in various cultures and languages: Patience is the prime virtue. The issue of impatience has been popping up in lots of sessions with clients this year, and has raised its head in online chatter.

If you haven’t read it (or don’t remember the essence of it) you might reflect on Laura Bruno’s response to a classic case of mass impatience:

“Incremental and Lasting Change: Create New Systems and Safety Nets Before Summoning Destruction.”

The gist: some people wanted us to coalesce our energies to collapse the global economy so as to speed up our planetary transformation by “starving the beast”. Laura wisely counseled that it would be kinder and wiser to allow time for the unprepared to get prepared:

“A true, positive, lasting, sovereign change will involve a new kind of safety net that preemptively makes the system obsolete before recklessly crashing it.”

Take It from Bucky

Good old Buckminster Fuller had said: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” Add that to another of his quotes: “Don’t fight forces, use them.” Continue reading

April 2017 Specials ~ Last Call for These Offerings

As I mentioned last week, I’m in process of restructuring rates, session lengths, policies and offerings. I have not raised rates in 10 years but will begin doing so in May, in order to bring things more into alignment with my 16 years of professional experience as an intuitive reader and over ten years as a Life Coach. I’ve also been considering various requests over the years for additional services, classes, and mentorship programs, and I’m discerning which, if any, of those I feel led to offer at this time. My decision to restructure services and rates comes after much prayer, contemplation and synchronous nudges. I celebrate the new, even as it continues to reveal itself.

With our upcoming move — date and exact location TBD — I know I will make additional shifts once I get a sense of how many local classes I begin teaching in the new spot and how much time I feel called to devote to writing, including a return to writing fiction. Endings so often precede beginnings: although I don’t yet know all the details of the coming shifts, I recognize that some things have run their course. This month’s specials have been very popular over the years, but I will likely not repeat them in these forms or rates again. If you’ve ever felt led to these offerings in the past, then April 2017 would be the time to take advantage of the 3 for $333 or the Preparedness $123 specials described below.

$333 Intuitive Coaching Three-Pack

This special offers major savings at $333/three hours. I’ve found that even people who normally process things on their own feel challenged by the increased intensity and “sorting” of the Universe these days. As we continue with Earth changes, internal and galactic shifts, I feel called to offer a short burst of support to those in need. These sessions can be used close together or saved for a future need. You can use them in hour or half-hour segments. You can use these for Life Coaching, Medical Intuitive Readings and support, Soul Readings, Tarot or any of my other services offered at this time. The entire package can be gifted to someone else, but (for simplicity of paperwork) these three-packs cannot be divided and shared among multiple individuals. Offer valid if prepaid on or before April 30, 2017. To schedule your first session or purchase the package, please contact me here.

Intuitive Preparedness Check-In

This is a return of another special. With all the political, social and environmental upheaval, people want to know how to maintain a positive, proactive vibration and how to thrive while also shoring up any weak spots. This special responds to many comments, questions and private emails requesting my take on the question “What can I do right now?” — for specific individuals, rather than general guidelines and suggestions.

This hour session gives you access to my own intuitive scan of what areas of focus will provide you the greatest payback and sense of abundance, peace and security, with the least amount of resistance. Those looking to make larger lifestyle shifts can ask me to scan various lifestyle, location and/or community options to see which ones fit best with your vibration and heart’s desires. You can also use our time together to discuss energetic/magickal protection and manifestation tools and techniques, along with troubleshooting your most pressing concerns in various areas of life, including finances, food security, faith/spirituality/soul nurturing, relationships and/or land, including “garden guidance.”

I feel so strongly about helping people take steps from fear, denial and overwhelm into abundance, joy and freedom, that I’m keeping this pricing a simple $123. As Tolkien said, “Little by little, one travels far.”

Please contact me if you’d like to sign up for this special. Offer valid if prepaid on or before April 30, 2017.

Reiki 1 Certification in Goshen, Indiana

I’ve had a couple people request another Reiki 1 Certification Class before we leave Goshen. Since we don’t yet have a date of departure, I would need to schedule this no later than June 1, 2017. I’m willing to teach this class, but with all we have going on, I would require a minimum of four people in order to host another class here. We’re moving North, so if our current location is closer than Michigan and you’d like Reiki 1 training, please contact me to discuss potential dates. I have two rooms available for out of town students. You can find information on a previous Reiki Level 1 class here. This would also likely be your last chance to see the gardens of Faery Hof and Haus Am See, in case you hoped to see those in person before we move on to new adventures.

Garden Photos, Vibration Shifts, and the Value of Retreat

I’m not sure what the weather’s like where you are, but here in Northern Indiana, we’re experiencing a drought this summer. I can’t even remember the last time it rained, so most of this year’s garden time has been watering rather than some of my more ambitious projects. With all the new fruit and nut trees and first year perennials in the blue house’s yard, I’ve spent much of my garden time making sure everything gets a good solid start, but in recent days, even some of far more established Faery Hof yard’s toughest plants have required extra TLC.

Despite this additional responsibility, I’m so grateful to spend meditative time among the flowers, trees, birds and bees, since earlier years involved hauling over 25,000 pounds of wood mulch, dispersing truckloads of compost, and weedwhacking between lawn mowing. This year’s drought means anything unintentional and ignored in poor soil has grown incredibly slowly, which means garden time allows for much more creation and nurturing rather than destruction. While going all Shiva has its merits, I’ve found the peaceful, running water, selected abundance, and intentional growth mirror my own quiet, yet rich retreat state.

I’ll share some photos below, along with links to retreat ideas for those without their own, live-in garden paradise. I hope you enjoy the beauty and healing. I’d also love to know if anyone can identify these prolific volunteers.

Mystery plants

At first, I thought they were jewelweed, come to counteract my lovely poison ivy ground cover that I keep meaning to eradicate but haven’t succeeded in fully removing due to proximity of other plants. You can see the mystery plants here on the north side of our house near coleus in a barrel, a zephirine rose, forsythia, rhododendron, “coral bells” heuchera, ferns and the poison ivy. Anyone know what they are?

Aside from these carefree gems, I’m loving these Thai Purple Podded Yard Long Beans. They had a slow start, but once established grow 7-8 inches of each bean per day! You can see them here with volunteer sunflowers in front of them. Thank you, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds!

Thai Purple Podded Yard Long Bean

Last night we had a totally homegrown produce stirfry, including the Thai yard long’s, kalette (which appears to be exactly the same plant as my previously grown tree collards), poblano peppers, parsnip, green beans, Thai and Italian basil, and kohlrabi. We did use some non-homegrown organic, wheat free tamari, ginger, apple cider vinegar, birch sweetener, and a pinch of garlic powder for seasoning. Still, our tongues and tummies sang with homegrown goodness! You can also see our second crock of pickles, started yesterday after removing and cutting up the first batch.

all home grown dinner

Indeed, it’s cucumber and white scallop squash season! That probiotic rich sauerkraut (shown here with the Perfect Pickler setup for Mason jars) also came directly from the garden, and I’m enjoying the results of double-grown cabbages. If you cut them just right, you can often get two crops out of the same root. All but one of the earlier cabbages are growing strong again. Between all the probiotics and the daily green juices and green smoothies, it feels like spa time as our bodies soak up nutrients and sunshine.

August Morning Produce

No spa stay would feel complete without fresh flowers. These double hollyhocks needed a trim, and so our downstairs bathroom got a sweet infusion:

White hollyhocks

David’s mom gets fresh flowers pretty much every week, unless we leave town. Yesterday’s featured cosmos, bachelor’s buttons, pincushion flower, zinnias, echinacea, and Maximilian sunflowers (a less invasive edible cousin of Jerusalem artichokes):

Sunday bouquet

Some people have asked about the blue house (aka Haus Am See) yard, since I don’t show as many photos of that newly planted zone. It’s still getting established, but you can see some fun developments below:

Blue house backyard

The asparagus half circle has begun to grow in. Next year, that curved, mulched area on either side of the herb spiral will form a 4-6 foot ferny hedge surrounding a round picnic table/gathering area. To the right, you can see one of the nine hazelnut trees spread across both properties. The far right edge shows another of the tree watering rings I’ve needed to bring out again this year. Along the back fence you can just make out more asparagus, some first year hollyhocks, and two of the three paw paw trees. To the upper left, you can see the brand new roof (finally!) on the neighbors’ garage that inspired so much of my earlier vertical gardening.

That thing had been caved in since a tornado in 2009, just sitting there like an immobile, decaying eyesore, despite years of city citations, landlord complaints, offers to provide free labor for the repair and more. It simply would not budge, but somehow, all those Reiki Healing Attunements and magic seem to be taking root, because not only has that garage been repaired, but neighbors also got a new roof and windows for their house. The apartments on the other side have vastly upgraded their tenants, and for some reason, even though Goshen has a rental shortage, at least two of the eight units remain vacant.

Further down that street, another rental sits vacant next to a house for sale. The residents of those units never used to mow their lawns and were often loud and bizarre (in a disturbing, not intriguing way). Now, the yards are neatly mowed, and the houses await residents who fit the rising vibration in the growing radius of Faery Hof and Haus Am See. I find this all so interesting, as I’ve pulled my energy into very focused, hyper local retreat just to what I can see or hear around me — unless we leave town. While our area is mysteriously upgrading, I’ve heard that other spots in town have a big meth issue, and many downtown stores are now vacant.

We don’t intend to stay here long term since we’re winding down our required presence here for David’s parents’ transition to the next phase of their lives. I just find our experiences here so illustrative of how you can raise your own vibration and intensify your own focus and energy and have that ripple around you in healing ways.

A friend and I caught up at the Moringa Tree in Elkhart, and she said she almost missed out house picking me up. At first, I thought, “How could you almost miss this place?? It’s so far afield from the rest of its surroundings. It stands out.” On the way home, though, after driving though dry, blight ridden areas, we almost missed it, too. That demonstrated the reality of a suspicion I’ve also long had that when places or people become so vibrationally different than their surroundings, they disappear.

When we first moved to Goshen, I decided to start eating more cooked food to make my vibration dense enough for locals to see me. At first, I thought everyone was incredibly rude, because they would just ignore me, even while talking with David. Then I began to notice that if he turned to speak with me, people would jump back, startled as though I just appeared out of nowhere. Again and again, people said, “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there.” Food is one of the easiest ways to moderate the density of your vibration, so adding a little cooked vegan food brought me into more normal range for at least some of the locals. In recent months, I’ve gone back to very, very high raw, lots of green juices, and only super fresh cooked food, and people just look through me again.

Those with strong faery, artistic, or Druid leanings still see the yard and apparently do see me on the rare occasions I venture out in Goshen; however, curious things keep happening with shapeshifting and size. Throughout the day, my own body morphs size and shape — not bloating, totally different body types and sometimes fitting in clothes or styles, other times not at all. Our friend Tim said something similar about our yards — that they “look way bigger than they are,” but what’s funny is that sometimes they look way smaller than they are, as when a car zips by so fast you’d blink and miss the entire block. I’ve been playing with a lot of timeline shifts, magic, sigils, and spending most of my time in Nature, magical studies or phone sessions, so I expected some time bending. Apparently, space is bending, too. With all the rabbits here, it’s a little like Wonderland.

In any case, the Haus Am See yard, continues to fill in and grow. I harvested garlic earlier this year and replaced these troughs with more white scallop squash, lettuce, cosmos, zinnias, red cabbage and sweet potatoes, which will eventually trail and bloom like morning glories. Behind the troughs you can see new annuals, perennials, a gooseberry and the bottom of a witch hazel — all of which will eventually mature into another faery flower patch and woodland:

I find Nature so healing and full of wisdom! Just wandering the yards each day and observing how plants interact with one another, as well as listening to the birds and watching all the critters, bees and beneficial wasps, butterflies and sensing faeries and gnomes fills me with an expansive sense of magic, which continues indoors with all the plants and elements inside. Although we do not intend to stay here long term, I feel called to foster an ecosystem that later tenants can easily maintain and enjoy.

This year’s respite from heavier labor feels just right after life’s intense detour this spring, helping my father in his final weeks, followed by moving my mom from their house of 30 years into a thriving and beautiful set up in her new home and community. After all the hard work, it feels good and right to water and harvest for awhile before finishing my permaculture final project and beginning new writing ventures.

If you long for retreat but don’t have a garden or woods near you, you might find Dana’s recent post on The Druid’s Garden quite insightful: The Druid Retreat For Spiritual Work and Healing, Part 1: Why We Go On Retreat, Preparation, and Herbal Allies. As usual, Dana offers a myriad of ideas and tips for solitary or group healing activities. Those who know they prefer a moderated healing retreat, might appreciate Elicia Miller’s Emotional Healing Retreat in Costa Rica. I’ve spoken with several previous attendees who experienced profound and lasting shifts in only seven days.

Whatever and however you decide to retreat, do take some time for yourself! Resting, nurturing, slowing down and recharging make us all so much more resilient, and when the time comes for action, we will have much more to give — and from a much stronger, deeper place. Wishing you quiet blessings and good things!

August 2016 Specials and September Reiki 1 Class

Due to multiple requests and my own intuitive leading, I’ve decided to extend the July 2016 Specials another month. Many people feel the need for ongoing support as they make huge shifts during this intense time period. I’ve also noticed an uptick in bizarre brushes with death and reminders of the very thin skin between what Starhawk calls El Mundo Bueno and El Mundo Malo. Most people I know have managed to embrace intuition and turn the life or death scenarios into something positive and strengthening; however, the frequency of these events even among people “on path” has convinced me that now remains an excellent time for Intuitive Preparedness.

Please also note the September 10, 2016 date for Reiki 1 Certification in Goshen, IN. There is currently a wait list for overnight housing at Haus Am See, but we do still have plenty of room for students in this class. Reiki offers a wonderful, nurturing way to relieve stress and pain, as well as empower goals and deeper healing.

AUGUST 2016 SPECIALS

Intuitive Preparedness Check-In

This is a return of a popular 2014 special, which I feel called to highlight again now due to so many people asking me about Brexit, potential US election chaos, gardening questions, and especially with so many people suddenly (since July 1) sensing new openings and opportunities that once seemed very far away. People want to know how to maintain an positive, proactive vibration and how to thrive while also shoring up any weak spots. Soul Support

We’re in soulful times right now, as evidenced by extreme polarization and dissatisfaction on the world stage, coupled by so many individuals’ long held dreams finally coming true. If you find your soul alternately weeping, screaming and/or whooping it up, here are some good reminders and grounded support:

5 Signs Your Life is About to Go Through a Radical Change

(I’m hearing so many of these signs during sessions, and I know in our own lives, David and I are definitely going through a big time — and welcome –shift. The list at the above link allows you to take inventory to see how radical your soul’s next moves might become. When soul summoned opportunities knock, best to answer!)

The Tower Card

(I wrote the above linked article back in 2012, but if anything, the polarization has grown even more extreme. “Many people dread The Tower even more than Death or The Devil, but again, perspective plays an important role. Do we choose to focus on the lightning, the forcible removal of old paradigms, the free fall, or the fire? How does the implied trauma of this card shift if we acknowledge that the old paradigms no longer worked? The Tower was William Butler Yeats’ very favorite card, and it’s one of mine, too. It has a personal meaning for me, as I associate it with my 1998 brain injury, which arrived like a lightning strike and threw my entire sense of identity, thought patterns, and ways of being into a rocky sea. But you know what? That brain injury was the best thing that ever happened to me. Destroying the old reality opened an expansive and yet strangely intimate reality far beyond and far preferable to what I’d known before.” Read on to learn how to take advantage of the Tower Card’s inherent opportunities.)

El Mundo Bueno

(This was one of my most popular articles from 2014 — even more relevant today than before.)

If you’re feeling the Tower and El Mundo’s tug, and these articles only underscore that fact, I designed this month’s specials specifically in anticipation of the increased intensity. There’s no shame in seeking extra support and empowering input when you find yourself poised to make a change. In a world of all possibilities, why not prepare to launch instead of stressing over a possible lightning strike? When we recognize what our soul has summoned, we can position ourselves to receive instead of resist the coming changes. Exercising conscious influence in times of chaos takes advantage of opportunities and provides an extra edge in creating the life you’d most love to live.

You’re Grounded

I left the following as a comment to Colette on her Bealtaine Cottage Good Life blog post, “Facing into Climate Chaos.” This is her paid subscription blog, but you can find out how to access those posts by clicking here onto her free blog.

I decided to bump up my comment here, because I’ve recently received some frantic emails from people suddenly recognizing that life as we know it might change in a heartbeat. Of course, that’s always been the case; most people just haven’t realized that Western Civilization cannot possibly continue with the same old same old. Neither do most people acknowledge in any real way that “Mother Earth” might actually be our mother. As in, the dispenser of tough love when Her children have gone far too out of bounds.

My point in the comment is that discipline can be a very good thing. I recently got to witness the results of such tough love, this time from a father, and how, over time, his child came to thank him for his seemingly harsh discipline and consequences, now recognizing the correlation between his line in the sand and her renewed and dramatically improved quality of life. This story and others inspired my reply to Colette’s post:

I agree with you, Colette! I’ve often thought how Mama Earth may one day just yell out, “Enough is enough!” effectively confiscating humanity’s many toys and saying, “You’re grounded.” There’s a huge methane leak in California right now that could do just that. Like Fukushima, not being able to stop this has implications for the entire world, and Nature will kick in somehow whether with human cooperation or not.

For most people, this will be a difficult initial adjustment, but for those who’ve taken steps towards resilience and community preparedness, “this could be a good time,” as the Hopi say in their prophecies. A world with no more wi-fi, no more mindless consumer culture, no more television, and no more fracking would shock many, but think of the potential uptick in quality of life! People coming together, sharing their lives and telling each other stories face to face instead of burying their heads in glowing boxes. All sorts of things could happen.

I don’t pretend to be ready for the radical shifts that may come our way, but I’m readier than most and like you, willing to share whatever I do know. “You’re grounded” sounds like a punishment, but it also means, “you’re earthed,” and “you can’t be fried by the surges of energy.” Being grounded heals us and allows us to move through chaos with Grace. Thank you for modeling that to so many! xx

Practical and Spiritual Preparedness for Chaotic Times

Continuing with the past few days’ questions of how to deal with “The French 9/11” and all the attacks right now from seemingly every angle of life, I’ve collated a few other articles, videos, and inspiration to help people find a balance between “pie in the sky” “magical thinking” and paralyzing fear or utter despair. Some of these pieces include more practical information about preparedness, situational awareness and following your intuition. Others include reminders and techniques to keep your vibration warm, loving, ready, and empowered.

I’m not recommending any single one or all of these pieces, but offering them as starting points for your own consideration. Having the courage to assess your own situation and to make your own decisions holds far more value than having anyone tell you what you “need” to do. That said, having the very basics of preparations on hand just makes good sense! If the events of Paris happen near you, wouldn’t you prefer to remain in the comfort of your own home while the situation sorts itself and returns to some level of sanity? It is far easier to maintain an empowered, attractive vibration when you and your loved ones feel safe and secure in your own little cocoon of peace. Peace in, peace out. To support this:

1) Do your best to acquire at least two weeks’ worth of food and water. If traveling, at least bring some extra food in your carry on bag, in case you get stuck in the airport or on the road. Bring extra water if possible. If you have a sunny windowsill at home, consider growing some of your own fresh herbs, lettuce, arugula and/or spinach and carrots. It’s fun to have life around you, and fresh food invigorates!

2) Have backups of any medications you or a loved one relies upon for survival. (Ideally, do your best to get off these types of meds or replace them with something you can grow or easily acquire, but for the most basic level of preparedness, at least have an extra month on hand of any required meds or supplements.) You might also want to have miso paste on hand to help counteract a nuclear situation (and provide immune boosting, extra delicious soups and flavoring!). Having natural immune boosters on hand makes sense, too. What do you normally use to keep the sniffles at bay? Extra vitamin C? Garlic? Elderberry? Just set aside a little extra for chaos-raining day.

3) If you live somewhere cold, have some sort of alternative heat source available in case of a power outage, whether kerosene heaters, alcohol heaters, convertible rocket mass heaters, a fire place, wood stove, solar heater, clay pots with tea lights under them, or another nearby location that has such things. If you cannot acquire any of these things, then at least have a sleeping bag, tent, and/or extra warm blankets and long underwear on hand. Basements will stay warmer than upstairs, due to the insulation provided by the ground.

4) Remember your pets! Have backup food and meds for them, too. You’ll want your loved companions there for comfort, not a source of stress as you watch them struggle.

5) Have some board games, physical books, and inspirational poetry on hand. You’ll want positive distractions from the news, or a replacement for all things i-related if communications get shut down or the power goes off.

6) Make sure you have candles and/or solar lights available for comfort.

7) Cultivate local community wherever you are. Eventually, you’ll want and/or need to go back out into the world, and knowing you have a strong community of mutual encouragement and support is priceless, whether a disaster or terrorist attack happens in your area or somewhere else that still affects your area. Strong communities build resilience and joy. As the Hopi say, “This could be a good time.”

Those are some very basic preparedness tips. If you’d like to move towards a much more sustainable, self-reliant and resilient lifestyle, then you might want to consider owning the recent Search for Sustainability Summit. (I’m not an affiliate. That series is just chock full of inspiring, practical and empowering information.)
