News Alert ~ Polish Farmers Arrested Defending Farmland

I received this newsletter today from Sir Julian Rose and his partner Jadwiga Lopata. Things are really heating up in Poland! The first country to successfully ban GMO’s, Poland has been on corporate ag’s dirt list for many years now, with aggressively punitive regulation and betrayal of local, organic farmers. The newsletter below details the latest events, including the draconian arrest of peacefully protesting farmers blocking the sale of Polish farmland to foreign speculators and corporations instead of young Polish farmers.

If the Polish government is so concerned about foreign interests, then they shouldn’t mind a bunch of outraged emails from the international scene. Why does this matter to you, even if you don’t live in Poland? With the TPP “free” trade agreement looming for an intended fast track through Congress, the TTIP “free” trade treaty connecting Europe and North America — both giant gifts to Big Ag and Big Pharma — organic, local food has never been more threatened in more places. This bullying of Polish farmers no doubt means to send a message across the globe: “Resistance is futile. The corporations will swallow you whole and spit you out in pieces.”

Well, not on my watch, and hopefully not on yours either. If you value your right to eat real food, to support real farmers and a local economy, ironically, supporting the small, local, organic farmers in Poland might be one of the more important things you do for your own city and your own plate. Thanks and blessings to anyone who takes action on this.

News Alert – Polish Farmers Arrested Defending Farmland

URGENT! The Polish farmers are calling for other farming and consumer groups in Europe and beyond to show solidarity with their actions. As one farmer said “To day we are arrested – tomorrow you could be.”
Please do send letters of support!

On 6th October 2015 the police arrested 11 farmers from Pyrzyce (Western Pomerania Province) where 60% of farmland has already been sold off to foreign buyers. The arrested farmers are accused of participating in an organized group whose aim is to prevent the actioning of tenders for the sale of Polish farmland by WRSP (land owned by the state). The farmers were arrested on their own farms and handcuffed with their families watching.

The prosecutor stated that “they will all have to answer for impeding the tenders for the sale of land… The farmers are blocking a dozen tenders connected with the foreign sale of farming estates worth at least 6 million zloty.”

The arrested farmers had actively participated in protests in Szczecin and the surrounding region as well as Warsaw, their aim is to introduce changes into the law applicable to farmland management and to put a stop to Polish land sale transactions to speculative foreigners and corporations.

“These changes would stop the out-of-control and reckless sale of Polish farmland which is causing economic and social degradation of the countryside and the building of colonial relations in these territories…” – said Edward Kosmal – the leader of the KPRWZ (Western Pomerania Farmers Protesting Committee).

Two days after the farmers were arrested (8th October) five of them were sentenced to two months of provisional detention. Others were released on bail with the financial guarantees of 30 to 60 thousand zloty. The farmers could be sentenced to five years imprisonment.

“Is this an attempt to intimidate other farmers participating in protests? A revenge for fighting with companies with foreign capital that want to buy-up Polish farmland? – asked Sir Julian Rose, the President of ICPPC.

“The farmers blocked tenders connected with the sale of Polish farmland in which foreign companies participated (for example, Danish companies and their agents). They also sowed the land which was supposed to be grabbed by foreign capital with their own grains and kept watch on the area, thus blocking other entities from entering. Their protest is against the sale of Polish land into foreign hands instead of to aspiring young Polish farmers.” – commented Jadwiga Lopata, vice president of ICPPC.

The farmers from the Western Pomerania Province are outraged and are demanding that the arrested farmers should immediately be released from custody. They have announced a large scale protest in front of the Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin on Monday (12th October). 100 tractors will participate in this action.
International Coalition to Protect the Polish Countryside-ICPPC is fully supporting the farmers’ actions!

URGENT! The Polish farmers are calling for other farming and consumer groups in Europe and beyond to show solidarity with their actions. As one farmer said “To day we are arrested – tomorrow you could be.”
This includes TTIP attempts to prevent the sovereign protection of internal food chains.

Please do send letters of support to the farmers – through us – and we will forward them to the Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopasz and other ministers as well as to the prosecutor. [Here is Jadwiga’s email: jadwiga @ icppc.pl Please remove the spaces before sending your letter. Thank you!]

Two Great Articles

These are long pieces, but too important and informative not to share:

Monsanto’s Sealed Documents Reveal the Truth behind Roundup’s Toxicological Dangers

and

CENSORED: The Atlantic buried this interview with the Health Ranger after realizing his answers made too much sense.

Food Security and the 2016 Election

I just read another ra-ra piece from Jon Rappoport called “Trump Scorches Dallas ~ Why it Matters,” and I left the following long comment. I’ve mentioned this before, and I will continue to mention it, especially so the more frenzied the hoi polloi deification of him becomes. Whether you think Donald Trump will save the US or whether you think he’s a narcissistic misogynist with zero filter doesn’t matter to me. The fact is, that he’s stirring the pot in a big way, and the populace has begun to salivate over some of his promises without having any concept of immediate fallout of their implementation.

Whether Trump wins or the poked and prodded mob consciousness demands these changes from someone else, we would be wise to consider the bigger picture of either side of the wildly swinging pendulum. Too many illegals needing aid crash the system; no more illegals also crash the system — especially the food system.

For consideration regardless of your politics, particularly if you live in the US:

People really need to research the conventional US food system and just how reliant it is upon illegal immigrant nearly slave labor. I recommend the documentary, “Food Chains,” as it’s a real eye-opener of how the bulk of the food in the US is harvested, and by whom. In order for Trump’s plan to get rid of all illegal immigrants to work, then we need a new food system pronto, or individuals and communities need to be building soil, starting organic farms, indoor aquaponics systems, etc. … yesterday. When you see the conditions of migrant farm workers, you realize they are basically slaves. Supermarkets would not pay them a penny more per pound of picked tomatoes. The going rate is one penny per pound. How much do you pay in the store for conventional tomatoes in February?

The whole GMO debate and Trump’s anti-illegal immigration plans and tariffs — sure, the system’s broken … but if you just yank the bottom out of that food system, then the 2011 Executive Order that allows the Feds to force anyone to do whatever job it assigns without pay (i.e. slave labor) will become necessary in the US in order to prevent a famine. I’m all for changing the system, but some massive supports need to be started right away if this has any hope of succeeding without millions of people starving due to skyrocketing food prices or harvests just rotting in fields because no self-respecting American will work 16 hours per day being sprayed by pesticides for a few dollars.

Ditto the GMO ban. I’m all for it on paper, but if that were implemented right now, we’d have riots in the streets once the food prices skyrocketed. Toxic food is cheap food. We’re a food stamp nation now. If we want to turn things around, we each need to be finding ways to grow our own food and helping to build community resilience with organic, year round, local farms. Those are the safety nets that would allow these changes to happen without food riots or a police state crackdown. I see all these people cheering for Trump’s rejection of illegals, and yes, I know we have a huge problem, but if people want his policies to work, they better get planting, learning how to farm, and get their own communities up and running. Otherwise, the transition period of his immigration policy and any transition period in this country for Jon [Rappoport]’s proposed GMO ban will create just the kind of chaos and excuse for crackdown the elites have been fomenting all along.

We need to prepare for change if we really want it. Careful what you pray for … if it happens before you and your community are ready for it, you might realllllly not like the requested changes, even if they’re “good” changes. Starvation has a way of shifting people’s priorities, and this food stamp, just in time, pampered nation has no idea how to feed itself on a large scale without slave labor. Better learn quick, because growing food has quite the learning curve.

The Organic Effect

Natural News ~ 37 Lies Americans Tell Themselves to Avoid Confronting Reality

If you’re not American, consider that many of these lies cross over into other languages and Western cultures.

37 Lies Americans Tell Themselves to Avoid Confronting Reality
By Mike Adams

(NaturalNews) Have you noticed the incredible detachment from reality exhibited by the masses these days? The continued operation of modern society, it seems, depends on people making sure they don’t acknowledge reality (or try to deal with it). “Denial” is what keeps every sector of civilization humming along: medicine, finance, government, agriculture and more.

The trouble with the denial approach is that eventually the lies collide with reality. Until that day comes, however, happy-go-lucky Americans are merrily enjoying their courtship with self delusion, repeating the following 37 lies to themselves as if they were true:

Lie #1) All FDA-approved medications are safe to consume in any combination, because the FDA protects the public.

Lie #2) Food prices keep going up because inflation is a natural force that can’t be halted.

Lie #3) The mainstream media is telling me the truth when it reports on world events.

Lie #4) Chemical food additives are tested for their safety before being widely used across the food supply.

Lie #5) We can all pump groundwater out of the ground forever, and it will never run out.

Lie #6) We can also pump fossil fuels out of the ground forever, and they will never run out, either. Why worry?

Lie #7) If anything bad happens in terms of a national emergency or natural disaster, the government will take care of me.

Lie #8) It doesn’t matter where my food comes from as long as it’s cheap and delicious.

Lie #9) GMOs must be safe to eat because a bunch of scientists paid by the biotech industry all tell each other that GMOs are safe and therefore have reached “scientific consensus.”

Lie #10) Government debt doesn’t matter because the government can simply create more money any time they want.

Lie #11) Mercury in vaccines must be safe to inject into children, otherwise the CDC and FDA wouldn’t allow it to be used in vaccines.

Lie #12) Organic produce is a waste of money. I’ll buy conventional produce treated with pesticides and herbicides because the cost of all the cancer treatments I’ll need 20 years later will be covered by Obamacare anyway.

Lie #13) The history taught to children in public schools is a true and accurate history. Columbus was best friends with the Indians, too!

Lie #14) Swallowing fluoride chemicals is good for babies and children, and that’s why cities put fluoride into public water supplies.

Lie #15) Flu shots prevent the flu. That’s why the package inserts for flu vaccines openly state there is no scientific evidence to support any conclusion that influenza vaccines prevent influenza.

Lie #16) Whatever is backed by “science” must be true. Science is never falsified by corrupt scientists or corporate agendas, and scientific conclusions are never wrong.

Lie #17) The global ecosystem can handle unlimited human pollution without any negative consequences. We can all continue to dump unlimited toxins into the environment.

Lie #18) Cell phone radiation is harmless. The reason we know that is because the cell phone companies hired scientists to say so.

Lie #19) If everybody else is doing something, it must be the right thing to do. After all, how could so many people be wrong?

Lie #20) We don’t need to store food for emergencies because there will always be more food available at the grocery store.

Lie #21) There’s no need to be concerned about Ebola or other infectious diseases in America because the vaccine companies can always and instantly create a new vaccine that works 100% of the time, with zero side effects.

Lie #22) Local police departments need battlefield military weapons, armored cars and body armor because the drug war demands it.

Lie #23) If I buy something at Whole Foods, it must be healthy and free from contaminants like toxic heavy metals. (Or is it really?)
Lie #24) My vote really counts in national elections. We live in a democracy where the People have power over the government.

Lie #25) My checking and savings accounts are perfectly safe no matter what happens because my bank is FDIC insured.

Lie #26) Raw dairy products are dangerous and deadly because the FDA told me so. Those horrible farmers selling raw dairy products should be locked away in prison.

Lie #27) My oncologist recommends chemotherapy treatment for me only because he cares about my wellbeing, not because his clinic sells the chemotherapy drugs at a huge profit.

Lie #28) The government isn’t secretly recording my phone calls or reading my emails. Why would they? I’ve done nothing wrong!

Lie #29) Commercial dog food is healthy and nutritious for dogs. Dog treats made in China are also trustworthy and free from contaminants like lead.

Lie #30) The only way to prevent infectious disease is with a vaccine. Vitamin D and healthy immune support have nothing to do with it.

Lie #31) After I pay off my house, I own it free and clear. (Think again: Property taxes mean you’re only “leasing” it from the county. Stop paying those taxes and you’ll find out very quickly who really owns your home.)

Lie #32) Google will do no evil, and the fact that the company is developing humanoid battlefield robots, autonomous drones and super-human quantum computing brain chips is nothing to worry about.

Lie #33) Cancer is caused entirely by bad luck (or smoking) and has nothing to do with the food I eat or chemicals in my personal environment.

Lie #34) The radiation release from Fukushima wasn’t that bad. Sure, it was many times larger than the Chernobyl disaster, but authorities say we have nothing to worry about.

Lie #35) Autism isn’t caused by vaccines, and the way we know is because the CDC scientist who admitted to a massive conspiracy of scientific fraud to bury the evidence linking vaccines to autism should not be believed.

Lie #36) All foods certified as “organic” are automatically free of toxic heavy metals and contaminants.

Lie #37) Human civilization is the only intelligent civilization in the entire galaxy. Anything else would simply be too scary to contemplate.

No Good Farms=No Good Food: Food Safety and the FDA

This important and time-sensitive post comes from the Cornucopia Institute via RMN. Yes, the tactic they request involves a little more effort than clicking on a petition, but I ask you to consider what will it take to motivate you to action? Is the imminent prospect of having the FDA and the psychopathic corporations underwriting our government completely destroy all small- and medium-sized organic farms enough to motivate you? If not, why not? (These are not rhetorical questions. I really, really want to know!)

This is your life. As Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men [and women and children] do nothing.” This affects us all, and it’s moving fast. Do you care enough to do something about it on multiple levels? In other words, do you care enough to send a physical letter, raise your voice, and encourage others to do the same? Magick, intention and meditation are all very powerful tools. I use them myself to good effect. But we’re talking about your physical access to physical, real food. Isn’t that worth this tiny physical step, or does the sand around your head feel so comfortable that you just can’t be bothered to move at all?

Please do some soul searching. Why are you here? What do you value in life? Do you ever eat? Do you value even just a tiny bit the freedom to decide what you do or do not permit inside your body? You live on Planet Earth. Is nothing sacred? Please, wake up.

On the surface this legislation seems like it has a lot to do with chickens, but even if you’re vegan, I still encourage you to take action. Non-action on your part means your unilateral endorsement for only miserable factory farms. It also opens the door for your organic veggie farmers to be regulated and red-taped out of existence, thereby default endorsing factory farms and pesticide-laden, herbicide coated, GMO animal-veggie hybrids. As a vegan, do you really vote for that? As a human, don’t you want the ability to choose something besides that?

The post I saw on RMN begins below:

http://www.cornucopia.org/food-safety/

In response to deadly outbreaks involving spinach, peanut products and eggs, Congress acted decisively three years ago to pass the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Giant factory farms and uninspected imports are, literally, poisoning US citizens. Better oversight is needed but it looks like regulators and corporate agribusiness are using the FSMA to simultaneously competitively crush the organic and local farming movements.

Unfortunately, the FDA’s draft regulations designed to implement the new law appear to ignore the will of Congress. Instead, the regulations would ensnare the country’s safest family farmers in burdensome regulations in a misdirected attempt to rein in abuses that are mostly emanating from industrial-scale factory farms and giant agribusiness food processing facilities.

SHORTAGES of FARM-DIRECT PRODUCE?
Small farms forced out of business?

We thought we had won a victory with the Tester Amendment adopted by Congress exempting farmers doing less than $500,000 in business from these new rules, but the FDA seems more interested in a “one-size-fits-all” food safety law.

In reality, these small farms are not really exempt. The FDA is proposing that the agency can, without any due process, almost immediately force small farms to comply with the same expensive testing and record-keeping requirements for factory farms. The added expense and record-keeping time will potentially force many small farms — those selling to local farmers markets, co-ops and restaurants — out of business instantly.

Just as important, for farms over $500,000 in volume (and there are plenty of excellent medium-sized organic farms in the $1-$3 million range or larger), some of the provisions will not only be economically damaging (some farmers might not survive this) but actually prohibit some basic practices in the Organic Food Production Act. Yet if all farms, conventional as well as organic, had to follow the organic regulations for manures/composts, we’d have safer produce.

Please download and sign the proxy and mail it back to protect our nation’s safest farmers. Cornucopia will hand-deliver the thousands of proxies collected to the FDA.

These new rules are just as much [from Laura, read: much more] about protecting industrial agriculture, and their giant factory farms, as they are about protecting human health. Consider:

The FDA has wildly inflated the number of foodborne illnesses that originate from farm production (seed to harvest) rather than contamination that takes place later, in processing/distribution — in justifying supposed economic benefits from the new rules.

The FDA fails to recognize that some processed crops, grown in certain regions, are the genesis of 90% of dangerous outbreaks! Thousands of individual illnesses come from food processing practices — not farming practices — for fresh-cut/bagged salads, greens, and sprouts. And there are no outbreaks linked to many kinds of U.S.-grown fruits and vegetables. Yet these very onerous rules will apply to all farmers. We need to target our tax money where it will do the most good: addressing high-risk areas and practices.

Almost all pathogenic pollution that contaminates ground and surface water, fertilizers and even the air comes from giant concentrated animal feeding operations, or CAFOs (factory farms), not from fruit and vegetable growers. In fact, the riskiest pathogens are found on CAFOs. But the FDA proposes nothing to address sick livestock in animal factories and their pathogen-filled manure that’s contaminating surrounding rural communities, farms and our food supply.

The giant spinach E. coli contamination a few years ago was from an organism commonly found in feedlot cattle. And, according to FDA news releases, the recent Cyclospora outbreak, sickening customers eating bagged salad at Red Lobster and Olive Garden in multiple states, was initially traced back to the giant Taylor Farms’ Mexican operation — not U.S. family farms.

To guarantee the supply of local, fresh, safe and nutritionally superior food, we must focus food safety rules on the truly risky operations and practices – this is not what the FDA’s proposed rules do.

NO MORE ORGANIC EGGS?

Just like imported/factory farm produce might be dangerous and require regulatory oversight, the 2010 salmonella outbreak in eggs, centered in Iowa, shone a spotlight on industrial-scale egg houses confining tens of thousands of hens in filthy and dangerous conditions.

The salmonella outbreak led to this new egg guidance. Even though there is scientific evidence tying higher rates of pathogenic contamination to older, massive factory farms with cages and forced molting (practices banned in organics), the FDA is zeroing in on flocks with outdoor access (certified organic).

Their new guidance, on the one hand, will make it difficult, expensive and maybe even impossible to have medium-sized flocks of birds outside. At the same time, the FDA has colluded with the USDA’s National Organic Program to say that tiny “porches,” which hold only a minute fraction of the flock, will now legally constitute “outdoor access.”

This will not stand. We need to simultaneously protest overreaching government regulations and defend produce and egg farmers.

Cornucopia might very well be headed to court over the governmental abuses in violating the spirit and letter of the organic law in regards to confining organic livestock (poultry).

So we are asking for your help. And we are on a tight timeline. We need you to make your voice heard over the next couple of weeks by downloading, printing and signing the proxy letter. We will hand-deliver it directly to the FDA. We know this involves more hassle than signing an online petition, but a printed letter, together with thousands of others proxies literally carries more weight.

We have heard time and again that regulators and lawmakers, who have no problem blowing off online petitions, sit up and take notice when they receive hard-copy communications – especially when they’re hand-signed and hand-delivered!

If you have the time, please write “over” and add additional comments on the back of the proxy letter. If you are farming, briefly describe your operation and why this could be a threat to your livelihood. If you purchase food from a CSA, co-op, farmers market or local organic farm, please let the policymakers in Washington know why you have confidence in these high-quality farmers rather than in corporate agribusiness.

Additional talking points and background are available at: http://www.cornucopia.org/foodsafety

Join Cornucopia members, farmers and consumers in stepping up to help counter the power of agribusiness lobbyists in Washington.

I know you enjoy the bounty of nutritious, healthful food produced by our nation’s best farmers. Please help us defend and protect this alternative in the marketplace. It is worth fighting for.

Mark A. Kastel
Codirector and Senior Farm Policy Analyst

[Here’s the proxy letter. Again, I ask you: if the threat of imminently destroying all small- and medium-sized organic farms is not enough to get you to take action, then what is? Seriously. Please do some soul searching. Why are you here? What do you value in life? Do you ever eat? Do you value even just a tiny bit the freedom to decide what you do or do not permit inside your body? You live on Planet Earth. Is nothing sacred?]

Ethan A. Huff ~ The Facts on Glyphosate, “Satan’s Molecule”

Here’s what I don’t get: a surprising number of people who eat organic food, who frequent Farmer’s Markets and believe in “permaculture” and “natural everything,” have suggested we use Roundup to get rid of poison ivy on our property. Because somehow Roundup “painted on” a noxious weed doesn’t count or “isn’t that toxic.”

Likewise, “environmentalists” in San Francisco’s East Bay Area advocate “painting” Roundup and an even more toxic chemical on clear cut eucalyptus tree stumps as a sustainable way of managing an invasive species. Ummmmm, personally, I will learn to live with an invasive species before I will voluntarily spew death and mutant causing chemicals on my lawn or near my food supplies. Not coincidentally, my dad still has non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, mentioned below, developed after a summer of Roundup use a few years ago.

I also knew a woman in Sedona who had almost died after living near a golf course and walking there every morning with her little dog, who did die of cancer within months of their move. This friend had recovered and moved away from her Florida golf course home by the time I met her, but she was passionate about body cleansing. Her medically verified toxin load from the golf course weedkillers and chemical fertilizers was so high that she had previously lost all of her hair and double digit weight without chemotherapy. Her life was forever changed by that “luxury” home with the pristine expanse of thick, weedless “lawn.” Even many years later, she needs to remain vigilant to stay ahead of the toxic load on her liver. No alcohol, only organic foods, regular cleansing — or she literally can’t function. She’s a walking miracle that never would have needed to occur had she not lived near such laudably poisonous conditions.

I can (sort of) understand less informed people using Roundup and other toxic chemicals after watching advertisements or reading the packages. What stymies me is the internal switch that seems to click in otherwise well-informed and passionately organic people who “love the Earth.” Somehow, their use of Roundup magically won’t funnel money into what has been voted the most evil corporation on the planet, and — equally mystifying — their use of Roundup won’t possibly escape into the soil or pollute their own, carefully managed, otherwise organic food crops. Likewise, in the Bay Area, the “painting” of 1,400 pounds of Roundup on stumps and spraying it (and worse) into the air won’t in any way pollute the local watershed, land or air.

Really?!?!!!! How marvelous! For those who think “just this once” won’t hurt, have a look at some sobering facts below. Thanks, G!

Ethan A. Huff ~ The Facts On Glyphosate, ‘Satan’s Molecule’
Natural News, July 16, 2013

The most widely used pesticide chemical in the world, glyphosate has been a target of environmental protection and human rights groups alike for many years now. And rightly so, as glyphosate, which is widely marketed and sold under the Monsanto-owned brand Roundup, is linked to causing cell damage, genetic mutations, miscarriages, behavioral disorders, reproductive damage, immune disease, cancer, and death.

All of this and more is revealed in a 2004 paper published in the Journal of Pesticide Reform, which highlights many of the dirty little secrets about glyphosate that you will never hear about from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), or any other regulatory authority for that matter. While the EPA and others are busy arbitrarily declaring glyphosate to be safe enough to eat, real scientists are uncovering the many horrors associated with exposure to this pervasive chemical.

Glyphosate was created to kill life

By its very nature, glyphosate has been designed to squelch life before it can even begin. Monsanto’s own background and marketing materials for glyphosate explain how the chemical blocks plants from producing the nutrients they need to survive, effectively killing them. And this chemical solution is being indiscriminately spread across tens of millions of acres of crop land every single year in the U.S., which is leading to massive dead zones of lifeless soil and polluted earth.

“Glyphosate blocks the activity of an enzyme used by plants to make certain important amino acids,” explains the glyphosate fact sheet. “Without these amino acids, the plant cannot make proteins required for various life processes, resulting in the death of the plant. Glyphosate is a broad spectrum herbicide, so it kills most types of plants.”

Did you catch that? Taken literally, this succinct description reveals glyphosate to be nothing more than a life-destroying poison. Natural, living organisms, in other words, do not stand a chance when it comes to being exposed to this chemical – only genetically-modified (GM) plants that have been artificially programmed to resist glyphosate are able to survive, and this at the monumental expense of the greater ecosystem in which they reside.

Commercial glyphosate formulas contain dozens of highly-toxic ‘inert’ ingredients

But glyphosate itself is not the only major cause for concern when it comes to the chemical’s use. As it turns out, Roundup and many other commercial glyphosate formulas are also loaded with all sorts of so-called “inert” ingredients that are not indicated on the label. As highlighted in the glyphosate report, these inert ingredients typically carry with them their own toxicity, triggering many of the same harmful side effects as glyphosate in isolation.

5-Chloro-2-methyl 3(2H)-isothiazolone, for instance, is a chemical component used in Roundup that has been linked to causing both allergic reactions and genetic damage in laboratory tests. And 3-Iodo-2-propynyl butyl carbamate, a biocide often used in glyphosate formulas, has been shown to cause thyroid damage and growth abnormalities in test subjects. Other harmful glyphosate ingredients include petroleum distillates, polyoxyethylene alkylamine, and methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, which are linked to fertility problems, genetic damage, and other harm.

“Four laboratory studies published in the late 1990s demonstrated the ability of glyphosate and glyphosate-containing herbicide products to cause genetic damage,” adds the report. “(And) three recent studies have demonstrated a link between glyphosate exposure and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer.”

Soil persistence, water contamination, drift, damage to plants and animals, and “superweeds” are among the many other major causes of concern with regards to glyphosate. None of these issues has ever been properly addressed by governing authorities, and yet glyphosate continues to increase in use year after year.
