Timothy Glenn ~ Lunar Explorations

He’s ba-a-a-ck! After his last post rocked many a worldview, Timothy Glenn returns as promised to discuss the moon and its influence. How to introduce this post? Hmmm … here’s what Tim said in his email to me:

“The moon is currently part of our experience. We can learn to deal with it, work around it, or even utilize it without surrendering to its influence. The suggestion here is to exercise vigilance so as to make informed choices. Again we swing back to Carl Gustav Jung: ‘Don’t fight forces, use them.’”

“The only thing you can ever know for sure, is that you can never know anything for sure.”

And with that intro, here’s Timothy Glenn:

Lunar Explorations

Let’s explore theories of the origin and nature of the moon. Indigenous peoples and ancient writers have spoken of the time before the Earth had the moon. She was inhabited by humans, who passed on their remembrances of life on Earth when there was no such thing as the moon we now have.

The July 1970 edition of the journal Sputnik featured an article by Russian scientists Mikhail Vasin and Alexander Shcherbakov: Continue reading

Timothy Glenn ~ Eclipsing Our Reality

This just in from astrologer, numerologist and author, Timothy Glenn, along with a short note/trigger warning:

Eclipsing Our Reality

By Timothy Glenn

We have been hearing lots of hubbub around the subject of the August 2017 eclipses, the opening of the lion’s gate, and especially the anticipated impact of the August 21st total solar eclipse on the United States.

First there will be two warm up exercises. Depending on where you are on the planet, the lunar eclipse will occur at 15 degrees Aquarius on August 7th or 8th. This will be followed by the Perseid meteor shower, which will peak on August 12th. These events will set the stage for the main attraction.

As the meteor shower is ending, Continue reading

Black New Moon and the Black Madonna

A beautiful post by Jamie! I especially love this part:
“In this case, Wisdom is what got repressed, shunned, negated, and (it was hoped) erased (but she’s persistent, this one, and had her Keepers of the Flame all along the way).

“But by virtue of the symbolism, the Black Madonna:

“’… has no qualms with standing for humanity, for Wisdom or the Heart, for authentic being, or standing up to power that has been abused and become tyrannical, oppressive, and socio- and psychopathic. That means outside of us, as well as where we’ve internalized the ‘voice of tyranny’.’”

The second of two new moons in Aquarius is called a ‘black moon’ because it’s the third of four new moons in the season (there are usually just three).

When I saw the ‘black moon’ reference at Earthsky.org, theBlack Madonna arose in my awareness.

She’s been surfacing for me again anyway in recent months, not that she’s ever that far away.

But there’s always something very timely when the Black Madonna comes calling.

The Black Madonna, like Durga, arises when she’s most needed. Like now.

How might the Black Moon Aquarius and the Black Madonna be related?

We can only open to inspiration and Divine guidance on that, since both are linked to Mystery and the ‘field of pure potentiality’ from which all manifest life is born.

Let’s look at a few clues and see what they might…

Kelley Hunter ~ Shelter from the Storm

Happy New Moon! Thanks to Gillian for this one:

New Moon @ 6 Cancer, June 27, 4:08am EDT, 1:08am PDT, 9:08am GMD

During this Cancer New Moon, we seek shelter and safety during what may feel like a rather stormy, yet exhilarating July. For the next week or so, fireworks ignite in the global transformation process as the Sun moves into the potent Pluto-Uranus Square. We hunker more deeply into our core for this intense, opportune offer of dynamic consciousness awakening. Already this year has been the peak of a rare planetary pattern that brings us to the next level of The Sixties. At moments during this process, like now, we may feel a very sweet, compassionate sensation, as if a divine mother is soothing and guiding us. We are helping each other in many ways as we make our way through these rough waters to safe harbor.

The Sabian Symbols are images that amplify the meaning of each degree of the Zodiac. This New Moon is at 6 degrees of Cancer with this essentially Cancer image:

In Spring, Game Birds Are Feathering Their Nests

Attention to home and hearth, inviting growth and well-being, preparing the ground for the inevitable change of the seasons.

Astrologer Lynda Hill, in her book, The Sabian Symbols as an Oracle, pictures “the desire for security amidst a rather risky situation…in readiness for new beginnings and new life.” She further writes, “Any security might only be temporary. Be careful not to become complacent, and ensure that you aren’t frightened at any sudden surprises or moves.”

These times we live in are relentless, urgent for growth. As the Sun in Cancer moves further into the Uranus-Pluto Square, we may have to relinquish cherished situations, relationships or experiences that we are growing beyond. It is time to stretch out beyond the crab shell that is pinching, tightening, like the womb when it becomes too small to contain the new life ready to be born. As we open to and welcome the new, have faith that it is for the best, we are feather our nests with a level of emotional comfort and stability that we need. We find safety and security blossoming from the inside out.

One of Cancer’s profound lessons is to realize that change is one constant we can count on; there is no holding on to the past. Change = growth in some form, even as we expand beyond limitations of that old shell. A little feng shui is in order to attune our inner space to the emerging energetic fields. The landscape in and around us is changing. Do you feel it? Of course. As we find the note, the tonality that pleases, that feels most resonant, we find our pathway to go with the flow. We rearrange our lives. Be radical. Trust yourself. Remembering, as Edith Wharton wrote, “Life has a way of overgrowing its achievements as well as its ruins.” Too much of a good thing is not good anymore. It is time to let go and move on to greener pastures.

Wisdom planet JUPITER is finishing its enriching year in Cancer. At this New Moon, Jupiter is at a pivotal point, stretching us to fulfill our destiny. It feels like a warm, big hug, giving us a hearty send-off—”Go forth and prosper!” Big Planet Jupiter prepares to move into the creative fires of Leo in mid-July. Let’s see what else Jupiter suggests from its Sabian Symbol of 26 Cancer:

Guests Are Reading In The Library Of A Luxurious Home

Home again, we turn to the wisdom of the ages, learning new things and, perhaps, stretching our hearts and minds beyond old belief systems that no longer ring true. We consult with the ancestors. We feel resonance with something greater than ourselves. We share what we know. We offer what we have to give. We find support and comfort in the perennial wisdom of the ages, as we take each step, remaining fully in the present as we move into today’s future. Indeed, with this New Moon cycle, we are moving into a key turning point of 2014, with Jupiter opening expansive opportunities to become more of who we truly are.

RETROGRADE MERCURY reverses its direction in a few days, turning with the calendar month. We had PLENTY (a Jupiter word) of introspective, retrograde reflection and reconsideration all year. Now is the time to move on. The caravans are pulling into formation. The wagon trains are heading west. What is our modern equivalent of the pioneering trails? That’s where we are all going, listening to our “compass rose,” our heart’s directive.

Along with the forward movement of Mercury, the end of June features two other planetary patterns with very different flavors.

MARS directly opposite Uranus on this New Moon can play out in a challenging, potentially nasty power punch leading to sudden breakthroughs, split ups, and outbreaks of revolution or violence. We already see such activity in several global hot spots. We can’t assume we are being told the truth about what is going on amidst hidden negotiations behind the scenes.
No matter. Let’s attend to our clarifying our own energy and how we plan to proceed. I like what Aussie Astrologer Maggie Kerr wrote:

“With change agent Uranus opposite activator Mars in the New Moon planetary mix there can be apparently ‘unexpected’ moves…which are not really so unexpected…you’ve just been putting them off. Remember not to project any confusion or anger at others, as the whole point of this past year has been to become aware of old limiting feelings, clear & release them, dismantle our defenses, and give ourselves permission to trust our feelings in a whole new way.”

A basic life choice is to fear or to love. The results of these extremes are evidently playing out. All year we have been weighing our options in view of fresh possibilities. Something must be done and we can’t do it the old way. We each count. We each make our choices. Bridges are burning behind us, as we reach toward a cosmic beckoning hand. A lovely and loving flow of sensitive, caring energy saturates our feelings, highlighted by some special moments where everything synchronizes beautifully like an uplifting symphony, a prayer, a divine decree.

How do we juggle these two streams in our experience? It likely requires a paradigm shift. It can happen inside any moment. With this New Moon, a strong, incoming creative rush of delight in alternative possibilities gives us the heart and courage to go for the gold.

Baci e abracci— kisses and hugs!
Namaste—I salute the god/goddess in you.
Aloha — The shared spirit within us is in harmony with all that is.
Vaya con Dios — Go with God.
Shanti, Shalom, Dona Nobis Pacem — Peace, peace, grant us peace.

This Is Your Mind on Neptune – Today’s New Moon in Gemini

As usual, Emily provides an excellent description of today’s energies. Happy New Moon!

virgo magic

gemini new moon collage by Emily

Today’s New Moon is super-Neptunian – are you feeling it? Sleepy, spacey, weepy, overwhelmed… Honestly, I’m feeling so freakin’ lazy that I just want to refer you to (or plagiarize from) the post I wrote about last year’s Gemini New Moon, because it’s basically the same deal (well, this New Moon is a little different, but last year’s post is still worth reading or re-reading).

The New Moon (at 7 degrees Gemini) forms an exact square – 90-degree, challenging angle – to Neptune, God/Goddess of the Ocean (at 7 Pisces). The typically light, airy, intellectual, chatty, busy-busy Gemini New Moon instead takes on a Neptunian flavor – watery, deep-feeling, uber-sensitive, imaginative, inward-turning, and potentially escapist, addictive, self-pitying and victimy (shadow Neptune).

Drawing us further into the dreamtime, Neptune is also stationing – standing still in the sky before turning Retrograde on June 9. We’ll continue…

Electra Jung: New Moon in Sagittarius

Today we have a guest blog post from my friend, the lovely Electra Jung. Even though we’re a couple days past the New Moon, the energies linger, and we’ve got all sorts of evolutionary steps in progress. I’ll let Electra contextualize things from an astrological perspective:

Electra Jung: New Moon in Sagittarius

A New Moon in Sagittarius is a time of optimism, adventure and the growing belief that everything is happening for a higher purpose.

This Sagittarian Moon indicates new beginnings of self-discovery with an emphasis on cultivating mental and spiritual growth.

As we get to know ourselves as souls, we begin to let go of the self-consciousness of the ego. This Sagittarian journey begins when the wandering “gypsy” becomes the “student “who then becomes the “teacher” leading the direction towards becoming the “spiritual master”.

It’s time to regain your inner faith and confidence as your home life and close relationships demand attention. Relationships right now are the backdrop of our evolutionary changes. There is an intensification in relationships which is directing people to do and create the changes they need to. This lunation provides the dynamic understanding of us through direct experience with life, our motivations, cultural interests and social and environmental connections.

Hibernation leads to self- reflection and reclusive tendencies…yet getting out, traveling, participation with social activists, and general learning and developing an identity through personal experience. This purpose is to make us face ourselves and evolve into higher levels of consciousness. Life continually evolves. We’re always moving into new experiences, which then lead to new possibilities.

The idea here is to bring expansion into every area of life…most critically into your personal sense of self-awareness…who you are, what you know and the knowledge you have gained through a lifetime of experience you now can share with others. Look closely at what you have chosen for yourself. Every experience leads to greater understanding, greater love and a greater fulfillment of destiny at hand.

“Choice is destiny’s soul mate.”
– Sarah Ban Breathnach

Observe where you are and what it took to get here. It’s time to lay the groundwork for the changes that create a turning point. Explore and discover a new belief system, a revised philosophy and world view as the way we have given meaning and purpose to our life no longer works.

Many of you been experiencing life-changing events and radical change in how you live your daily life. The coming weeks provide opportunities to create personal growth rather than disruptive change. This is a time for exploring and discovering and learning something new.

Be prepared for continuing earth-changes as we all have been informed, we have all read about the “end-times” and other apocalyptic events to come. In fact these changes have been occurring for years with increasing intensity. You already are Aware of the coming transition of your energetic frequency…as the earth shifts and transforms we know the same is occurring within our bodies…allow your mind, your heart and your integrity of truth and right-action be your guide.

Solar flares are increasing in intensity, tectonic plates are shifting, earthquakes (USGS.com) are larger are more powerful across the planet setting off volcanoes waiting to blow, and we live in our own consumer waste through addiction to fossil fuels and chemical conditions.

The true lesson is spiritual awakening and awareness that through life’s struggles you can overcome and will awaken at some point regardless of your circumstances. This Sagittarius New Moon is “the awakening” of our minds and consciousness to see our current reality and continue its “dissolution” as new ways of Being are set in motion.

Always Loving Life,
Electra

New Moon Intentions

We’ve got a New Moon in Pisces as of around 3 p.m. this afternoon, depending on your time zone. You don’t need to be an astrology buff or even believe in astrology in order to benefit from lunar cycles. Because of the moon’s effects on large bodies of water and water in general (our bodies are about 80% water), we all feel some kind of tug. Scientific research at University of Miami has even shown that murder rates rose and fell with lunar cycles, peaking at the Full and New Moons, declining during the quarter phases. The terms “lunatic” and “lunacy” really do stem from marked human behavioral changes related to the moon, so if you’re feeling particularly weepy, adrift, meditative, and/or creative right now, join the crowd!

A New Moon in Pisces places people in a more spiritual frame of mind and heart and encourages the wrapping up of karma, old ties, discernment about facts or illusions, and gives us all a chance to hone our intentions for a rebirthing process. As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces does away with traditional boundaries, picks up on others’ emotions and intentions, and brings the long-resisted to the surface for final reckoning. Ruled by Pluto, the forgotten and late-discovered stepchild of our solar system, Pisces helps us tune into those parts of ourselves that have remained hidden or repressed. Does it feel comfortable? Uh-uh. And believe me, I’m hearing this reflected in coaching and intuitive sessions! But in order for the new to arrive, we must clean out our closets to make room for what we really want. If you’ve got skeletons rattling around in there, or dust bunnies, or anything you’ve been nudged to discard, now’s a great time to do that. Take advantage of the natural flow and support of the energies to carry you through those final, weepy tasks.

And while you’re at it, allow yourself to dream. Pisces encourages dreams and visions of all sorts. With the doing away of boundaries, those dreams and visions also have a better chance of manifesting their way into three-dimensional reality. To help get you started, I’ll share some of my own intentions, along with a few photos of recent artwork. Yes, I’m on my third BlackBerry Storm since moving here, and this one appears to take reasonably normal photos!

1 ) Work in closer collaboration with the angels. I’ve worked with them consciously since at least 1994, but recently I’ve felt their presence in a bigger, more tangible way. The above painting appeared in about twenty minutes yesterday and pictures Archangel Michael with his fiery sword of Truth. On my jaunt to the Art Institute last week, I opened a book that had the quote from Goethe and I just couldn’t get it out of my head, so onto the canvas it went: “For what I possess seems far away and what has disappeared proves real.” The top includes Runes spelling out “Trust.” The image just came to me and demanded I stop doing everything else and sit down to paint it.

me with my nephew Owen

2 ) Spend more time with family. Now that I’m within an hour’s train ride of my brother and a short flight to my parents and sister’s family, I really do intend to spend more time with my family, especially my little nephews. The above photo was taken on my visit home in January. My nephew Owen and I share a telepathic connection. For years, whenever I’d call my sister, Owen would have just mentioned my name or said someone reminded him of me. My move to Chicago has already strengthened this intention, as I had dinner with my brother last night and now talk with my sister every day. In fact, Erica feels like she vicariously found my apartment with me because we spent that synchronous morning back and forth on our cell phones and she spoke to me right after I felt led to this perfect spot.

Antahkarana Stardust

3 ) Explore more Ekphrasis. Ekphrasis is the verbal representation of visual representation, or the visual representation of verbal representation. Synchronously, I wrote my Masters Thesis on this topic while studying right here in Hyde Park at the University of Chicago in 1995-96. Amazing how things cycle around! I have always had an interest in Ekphrasis and wrote several English and Art History papers on this topic, primarily related to photography as a motif in literature. I’m now enjoying the flip side: taking words and symbols like Runes and embedding them into artwork. I’m not sure where it will lead, but something about the process appeals to me, so I’ll run with it for awhile.

Mandala Curio

4 ) Paint more doors! The above photo is of a curio cabinet I painted a few weeks ago, but I’ll count it as a mini set of doors. 🙂 Sometime soon I’ll make my way back up to Evanston where a vintage door awaits my brush. I can’t wait to create another portal from a discarded entrance. In my opinion, those are the best kind — forgotten doorways often lead to dreams come true.

5 ) Continue to rest and rejuvenate myself, finding balance in this new climate, new energy and new life. I’m still experimenting with percentages of raw vs. cooked food, types of exercise, and structuring my work day. I may have a new ebook in me, and I would love to start practicing yoga again, now that my body feels a little more grounded. For years, I felt so lightly tethered to my body that yoga “didn’t work” for me anymore. If I raised my vibration even a little bit with exercise I flew off into the ethers. I had hoped that a move back to the Midwest might settle things a bit, and it seems to be so far. Time will tell, as it always does, with all things. I keep drawing the Rune for “Patience.” Hmmm … I wonder what that’s all about? 😉

Anyway, Happy New Moon in Pisces! May your dreams and intentions come to fruition in their own perfect ways and timing.
