Competing Realities and Crisis Mode

I can’t reblog this post another time, but it wants to go up again: “El Mundo Bueno. Remember that no matter how dire things seem, the “Good Reality” remains available and infinitely, intimately close for those willing to reach for it. I mentioned on April 24th that yes, the energies have been very, very intense for many people. As I said to David tonight after another round of emails requesting sessions or reporting current challenges, “The Universe is turning up the heat, driving in the nail, tightening the screws.”

Talking the talk without walking the walk is getting really difficult. Engaging in co-dependent behavior patterns that prevent others from learning their lessons or taking responsibility for their own lives now occurs without the energetic support of the Universe. If you continue to insist on maintaining that which no longer serves, you’ll find it much harder to do so, because you’ll be swimming upstream, going against the grain, p!ssing in the wind, and cutting yourself off from Divine Inspiration. You’ll still experience Divine Intervention, but that string pulling will not support inertia. That pot stirring will not cement stagnation.

By contrast, these chaotic times offer so much support for positive change, realizing dreams, and moving beyond old limitations and denial. Change takes courage, but we now live in the time of which Anais Nin so beautifully wrote:

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Live the life your soul longs to live. Take that step you know you need to take. Listen to your body when it screams, “Enough is enough.”

It’s about bloomin’ time!

Quick Medical Intuitive Insights to Common Issues

This is a repost of a 2009 article, but these issues continue to resurface. I receive so many of the same questions from people that I thought I might share a few general tidbits here. These aren’t meant to replace medical advice, of course; they’re meant to give you pause and reflection on what your body might want to tell you through your symptoms. If these don’t resonate with you, there may be a deeper soul issue wanting to come through. Please feel free to contact me for a personalized reading. ‘Til then, enjoy!

Hip Pain/Hip Issues: People rarely call me for this issue on its own, but I notice it a lot when I do general energy reads in coaching sessions. People are always amazed when I ask out of the blue how their hips feel!

Hips represent where our steps begin and where our legs connect to the rest of our body. As such, they often blow out, get stiff, dislocate, ache, or even break when people begin to contemplate a major life change. I find it interesting to note if it’s the hip of the dominant leg (the one you first step with) or the non-dominant one, as this can tell you where you are in the process of your decision to change.

Skin Flare-Ups These often have to do with visibility issues and the “face” you show the world. I’ve written more extensively on skin issues here.

Lack of Motivation: i.e. wanting to change, but not feeling focused enough or engaged enough to follow through with a course of action. This often occurs in conjunction with Candida Overgrowth. Candida vibrates to the type of victim that feels oppressed or overburdened by all the worlds concerns, be they family, job, or other “one-way” relationship. (For an in-depth discussion of Candida, you might enjoy this interview between colleague Elicia Miller and myself.)

I also find that motivation struggles arise when the supposed goal really does not reflect the deepest longings of the soul. In this case, the “prize” is simply not enticing enough to move through the required work. In some cases, the so-called prize might even represent a kind of prison. I recommend writing an uncensored list of 101 Wishes to see what comes up. Any patterns? Any surprises? Life coaching and/or Intuitive Life Path Assessments can also help to clarify goals and deeper longings.

A fair number of people have a mortal fear of achieving their soul’s dream. Yes, I said “mortal fear” as in fear of death. On some level, they associate this dream with the stoppage of time into permanent bliss. Doesn’t that sound a bit like, um, heaven? Death?

Souls are like little children who believe everything we say and take it literally. Sometimes we need to unpack the symbols, words and metaphors we use to describe or envision our “goals.” Sometimes we need to shake them out and iron them flat, remove any wrinkles lest our souls see boogie men or monsters in ordinary wishes.

Time does not freeze-frame when the soul steps into its life purpose. Yes, sometimes souls choose to leave the body when they’ve finished their goals or when it’s clear they will never finish them in this incarnation; however, that does not mean that yours will. Finding your life path is a road to liberation IN the body. It’s a means of experiencing “the kingdom of heaven within you.” By allowing your soul to receive what it came here to receive, you help to reconnect the spirit and earthly realms. You can give yourself permission to do this in body. If you had wanted to bliss out in the heavenly realms without experiencing any of the 3D effects, then you wouldn’t have bothered to take on a body. You have one now; have fun in it!

Thyroid/Neck/Throat Problems: Most people recognize that the throat chakra represents how they share their voice in the world. Many people do not know that the ears and the throat are part of the same chakra: how you hear and how you’re heard. If you have examined and re-examined the ways you speak your truth yet still have imbalances in the throat/neck/thyroid region, you might want to look at how you hear. Do you talk over others? Interrupt them? Do you shut out clairaudient awareness, explaining it away as “just a silly thought”? Since nature craves balance, a lack of listening will sometimes present itself in the same way as too much silence. In macrobiotics they say that everything eventually becomes its opposite: something overly yin eventually becomes yang; something overly yang eventually becomes yin. If you can’t figure out what’s happening with your throat, check your ears.

Dodging Health Crises

Just a quick post today about something that frequently presents during Medical Intuitive Sessions: how to dodge or minimize a pending health crisis. I often hear from clients after a doctor has given them some kind of dire prognosis, or when some new symptom results in that pit of the stomach realization that something is wrong, very wrong, indeed, with life. These people call me before getting a diagnosis, because they fear the finality of a medical diagnosis and also on some level know that their attitude or the right changes can shift them out of crisis into a “close call.”

You can find many books that remind you of the influence of your mind and emotions on your health. Some favorites include:

“The Biology of Belief,” by Dr. Bruce Lipton

“Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection,” by John E. Sarno

“Why People Don’t Heal, and How They Can,” by Caroline Myss

anything written by Louise Hay

In my fifteen years as a professional Medical Intuitive, I’ve also noticed some general patterns, which I’ll share here:

  1. Your body usually speaks in the most obvious metaphors. Issues approach the other layers — mental, emotional, spiritual, screaming intuition — before they manifest in the body. If something goes physical, it means you’ve somehow managed to ignore or sideline the earlier messages.
  2. The only thing that speaks as loudly as physical pain for most people is some kind of financial crisis. Not surprisingly, the two often arrive close together.
  3. Your body never betrays you. When I speak with someone about the soul reasons behind his or her various health issues, most people respond with a combination of relief, deep recognition, goosebumps, shivers, and/or tears of gratitude. Your body doesn’t want to cause you (or itself) pain. Rather, your body “takes one for the team” so that your soul can live its full expression in this lifetime. Your body’s willingness to break down in order to remind you of your truth and purpose is a supreme act of love, not an attack.
  4. Each illness or injury has a specific energy signature, but some signatures cluster into general patterns. I often find people with a throat chakra issue, for example, have had multiple whiplash injuries, tonsillitis, hearing problems, and TMJ — and not surprisingly, when pressed these people usually admit to having big issues with self-expression. Similarly, people who have multiple concussions or NDE’s that fail to stop them in their tracks will often come down with Chronic Lyme Disease or some other mysterious neurological illness. Breast cancer survivors who haven’t made permanent shifts will often present with lung issues, circulatory problems, or an autoimmune condition — all heart chakra imbalances. Receiving a physical healing without addressing the underlying concerns simply morphs the issues into the next available health crisis.
  5. People can recover from all sorts of “impossible” situations by aligning with the true path of their soul. Again, your body never betrays you. When you recognize the interconnectedness of all things, including all the nooks and crannies of complex you, ways begin to reveal themselves.

    There Is a Way

The intellect says: “The six directions are limits: there is no way out.”
Love says: “There is a way. I have traveled it thousands of times.”
    The intellect saw a market and started to haggle;
Love saw thousands of markets beyond that market.

    –Rumi

Don’t haggle with your health or with your soul. Approached with curiosity and love, every health “crisis” opens new ways of living a more authentic life.

  6. If you embrace the message of a health crisis before it fully manifests, you can often transmute the issue right then and there. I’ve witnessed many a spontaneous healing in my day when someone truly accepts the message their body has begun to scream at them. When people acknowledge the soul cries through a health scare, test results often reveal themselves as “mistakes,” “lost files,” or “surprising turnarounds.” I’ve known people’s cancerous tumors to disappear overnight, hepatitis to evaporate, MS to disappear, cavities to refill themselves, legal blindness to turn 20/20 … and more. I feel so privileged to work with so many people during health crises, because this process reminds me just how amazingly fluid and intentionally benevolent reality can be. We are incredible beings living in a miraculous universe!

Medical Intuitive Thoughts on Teeth

I’m actually writing this article as part of a brainstorming session for myself; however, I hear from so many clients who are enduring unintended side effects from infected root canals, rejected implants, tooth abscesses and frequent cavities. It seems teeth are a big issue these days, and in addition to Lyme Disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), digestive issues and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, teeth are up there in Medical Intuitive Session topics. I have personally been flirting with a probably “necessary” root canal off and on for far too long now, so before I give up the tooth, I thought I’d, you know, use my intuitive gifts to help myself. 😉 But since teeth issues are so common, why not share the information? Maybe this way, I’ll actually finish the brainstorming session instead of doing other things.

When assessing metaphysical causes for any physical ailment, it usually pays to look at any obvious metaphors or cliches. If a metaphysical cause reaches the body in the form of pain, it means we’ve missed or ignored the subtle signs and decision points preceding this situation. Odds are, the body’s not playing coy. Oftentimes the most obvious messages are the “right” message, or at least set us on the right track of that message. For the purposes of this article, I’m going to share things even if they don’t seem to apply to me. This is a brainstorming session, and what’s off for me might be right on for someone else.

The earliest tooth metaphor I remember hearing was from my Grandma Van, the woman who cheerfully asserted, “A meal’s just not a meal without dessert.” Grandma Van joyfully lived to age 101, and one could argue that she only decided to give up the ghost when the nursing home insisted she drink some disgusting protein shakes. Until she stopped being able to eat her sweets — even with only one remaining tooth — Grandma Van was still enjoying romance novels and bridge games. Grandma Van knew what she liked and refused what she didn’t. Her primary way of letting you know she didn’t like something was to mumble under her breath, “I’d rather have a root canal.”

Another early tooth metaphor came from my dad, describing my own stubborn nature, saying, “It’s like pulling teeth,” usually in reference to getting me to read the dreaded “Classics.” I preferred Nancy Drew, Agatha Christie, or even the Boxcar Children. Mysteries! Or “Clan of the Cave Bear” and “A Woman of Substance,” epic tales of strong women. Although I eventually became an English Major who devoured Classical Literature, as a child I knew what I liked, and I read it. And only those things. I read so much that my sister joked that my middle name of Paige was really “page” as in “book,” complete with a little bookworm finger gesture. I met one of our neighbors later in life and he said, “Oh, right! You were that girl who was always sitting on the front lawn reading.” I was a voracious reader as a child, but no one could entice me to read anything I didn’t want to know.

Both tooth metaphors appear to deal with preferences — the joy of embracing these, the pain of ignoring them in favor of “reason,” “education,” “practicality,” or “societal custom.” My grandmother and I shared a strong ability to “grin and bear it” when things did not go our way, but the pain cut(s) deep. The ability to “grit your teeth and git ‘er done” is also something I shared with Grandma Van, to the point that I have occasionally cracked a tooth from night grinding before certain likely to be stressful encounters. At Grandma Van’s funeral, more than one person commented on the strong set of her jaw. We usually saw her smiling, but at rest, her jaw was clamped shut and downright formidable. People credited her stubborn streak with ensuring her long life and continued zest for it despite years of not being able to talk or walk after multiple strokes and arthritis.

If you consult Louise Hay’s book, “Heal Your Body,” you’ll find that teeth represent “decisions” or “longstanding indecisiveness. Inability to break down ideas for analysis and decisions.” A root canal means: “Can’t bite into anything anymore. Root beliefs being destroyed.” Abscess: “fermenting thoughts over hurts, slights and revenge.” I’ve had clients for whom teeth represented “vulnerability,” “structures” and “personal power.” It’s also worth noting that meridians run through each tooth, so the specific tooth in question relates to whatever issues connect to that meridian. You can find a cool dental meridian chart by clicking here. Hovering over each tooth pops up a chart with related organs and positive/balanced vs. negative emotions associated with that specific tooth.

Given everything happening in our world today — the failing of most major societal, political, financial and ecological structures; an increasing sense of vulnerability to a Fascist Police State; bizarre weather patterns and End Times prophecies; and psychopathic corporations hellbent on telling us we want things that most awake people really, really do not want — it’s no wonder I’m hearing from so many people with dental issues. To varying degrees, we seem to have seen through the mirage of all the old structures, yet we’re not fully embodying and inhabiting the New.

Add to that the fact that many Lightworkers, Healers and Wayshowers feel like they’re pouring themselves into the New in order to support the rest of society that’s only just now flickering their eyelids to a groggy awareness of something maybe not quite as “real” as they thought it was. Still largely asleep, most of society continues to convince itself that the Real is a dream while the Matrix is waking “reality.” Depletion and demineralization often appear when we have been giving, giving, giving unsustainably more than we’re receiving. Many tooth, bone and chronic fatigue issues reflect this imbalance. In today’s times of intense change, it can seem like we have exponentially more things to do and less time for personal nourishment. Yet change does begin within. If we do not adequately nourish ourselves (physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually) how will we have the energy and stamina to continue supporting others?

Whether people call me for dental issues or hormonal issues, a common theme has begun emerging in recent Medical Intuitive sessions, and that’s the need to be truly honest with ourselves regarding our so-called preferences. Many people, myself included, want so much to see positive changes in this world that we sometimes overstretch our own limits and preferences. We “bite off more than we can chew” — grit our teeth to git ‘er done — even when those responsibilities rightly lie in other peoples’ hands. Something like what Dr. Bruce Lipton calls “the biological imperative” seems to be kicking in for many of us. Even formerly laid back or “live and let live” folks find it more difficult to stay silent and inactive. On the one hand, that’s great! We have increasing numbers of people envisioning and enacting steps towards a positive timeline and world.

On the other hand, we need to make some decisions, and we don’t always feel like we have enough time to gather all the information and skills we need for making such life altering choices. As a society, we’ve allowed old hurts to fester in the form of prejudices, and religious/political/class divisions; we’ve ignored aggressive infections in our banking and political systems, either deadening ourselves to the pain or hoping something else will fix the problem without our interference. Except now, we’re feeling the abscess twinges. We’re recognizing that some so-called leaders “have more nerve than an infected tooth.” Some of us would rather have a root canal than get involved, while others are realizing the vulnerabilities of “toothless” legal systems and protections. It seems mostly vampires have powerful teeth right now.

In her co-authored book, “Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We’re In Without Going Crazy,” Joanna Macy calls our period “The Great Turning.” As a Buddhist, she emphasizes non-attachment: we don’t know the ultimate outcome of our efforts. But she also recognizes the necessity of hope as both motivator in the face of overwhelming challenges and a means of countering fear and despair. Just as meridians run through each tooth, each individual intimately connects with the entire Universe. As humans, we are, quite literally, bridges between heaven and Earth. The Spirit world needs physical beings through which to act. The Earth needs inhabitants living from our hearts and inspired action. The more we each tune in to our own preferences — our deepest soul longings — the more we find ourselves either biting into life or suffering effects from trying to grit through something we really do not want.

Some way, somehow, decisions need to be made. When pain continues to flare up, will we find ways to bring our preferred reality into being? Will we have the courage to follow our dream? To live our truth? To come out of whatever closet — sexual, broom, religious or otherwise? In an interconnected world, even personal, microcosmic decisions affect the macrocosm. Just as a tiny tooth nerve can drive you to the point of near insanity, so can tiny actions from seemingly small decisions demand grand attention. Never underestimate the power of little things.

Yes! Of everything I’ve just shared, that last line jumps out at me: “never underestimate the power of little things.” Like canaries in the coal mine, teeth are small but mightily telling. These tiny parts of our body can provide some of the sharpest defense when all else fails to protect us. Teeth answer the call of the wild. They rip apart pretty looking portions and make them bio-available. Teeth don’t care what our food looks like. They care about what nutrients that food provides. Will it add to (mineralize) us or ultimately deplete (demineralize through sugary, empty fluff)? Teeth have roots, and sometimes local pain results in changes that haven’t come about any other way. Little decisions, little actions, just like chewing food, eventually break things down into bite-sized pieces. The trick is not to shove everything in at once, but rather to chew and to choose. Choose wisely now. Decisions count more than ever now. And now. And now. Pay attention to, evaluate and honor longings and nourishment — whatever those things mean to you, right now.

Blessed Be!

More Medical Intuitive FAQ’s

These are becoming FAQ’s, so I thought I’d post the answers here:

I’m not sure if I should book a half hour or an hour session. What’s the difference?

Generally, the half hour is good if you already have some idea what’s going on with you and you’re wanting affirmation of your own intuition, a little guidance, additional insights into unseen causes, or are trying to decide between various treatments. I’m not allowed to diagnose or prescribe, but I can scan your energy while you list various options and let you know what happens with your energy in each case.

The hour is best if you have multiple issues/symptoms, have been ill or injured for a long time, or if you have other big decisions or changes coming up in your life that may actually be more tied into your health than you realize.

We will make the most of whatever time we have together, so if you can only do the half hour that’s fine, but if you feel like the hour is more fitting, please let me know.

How do I pay you?

Once I know your requested length of session, I will send over a PayPal invoice for the appropriate amount. That will be due prior to our conversation. If you would like to pay by cash or check, this is possible; however, we will need to make other arrangements ahead of time.

Do you use Skype?

No, I am not on Skype, but many overseas clients use a Skype account to call my landline for a nominal fee. If you live in the US or Canada, I can call you, as I have free long distance throughout the US and Canada.

What if English is not my native language?

I offer my sessions in English, but you are welcome to have a translator on the phone, if you feel comfortable with that on your end. Some international clients also like to have their sessions via Yahoo Instant Messenger, since this will allow you to save a written transcript of our chat, which can be studied and/or translated into your native language at a later time. For Yahoo you would need to download Yahoo Instant Messenger and add me as a friend. I will give you that information once we schedule our time together.

A reminder for people with concerns that I “won’t be able to understand” your English: I read energy, feelings, images, sounds, vibration, etc., so even if your grammar or pronunciation is way off, I can usually intuit whatever you’re trying to share — probably much easier than most conversations you’re accustomed to having in English! There have been times when I could barely understand someone’s English, and yet the session provided valuable insights. I trust Spirit to guide our time together, whether you’re American, English, Japanese, Indian, Dutch or Mexican! A little English helps, but perfect English is not a requirement at all!

Can I have a session for someone else?

Usually not, but there are a few exceptions. I’ve addressed this question here.

Can you give me a diagnosis and treatment protocol?

The short answer is no. I am not a doctor, nutritionist, psychologist, or therapist. What I can do is read your energy and let you know what flashes across my intuition on the mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical level. I can share past life factors, only if requested and relevant to your healing. I can also suggest any resources for you to pursue further, such as books, websites, tests, types of treatment providers to contact, etc., if this information comes across my radar. Any herbal/dietary, etc. suggestions would be your responsibility to research and/or discuss with your healthcare provider. This is not medical advice! If you haven’t found your answer in today’s post, you might want to check my earlier list of Medical Intuitive FAQ.

If you’d like to sign up for one of the July Specials, please contact me before the end of this month, and we can set something up.

The Communication Cure

I think this is my favorite TED talk ever! “The CEO and founder of Intuitive Intelligence, Dr. Neha Sangwan is an Internal Medicine physician and corporate communication strategist empowering healthcare practitioners, organizational leaders and corporate employees in their own self-care. Dr. Sangwan is an international speaker and media spokeswoman on the topics of conflict resolution, leadership and team transition, power and hierarchy, stress management, and employee wellness.” She covers everything from the mind-body-spirit connection (Medical Intuitive awareness from an allopathic doctor!) to Saudi-Indian-American relations to media misrepresentations of conflict when there’s truly a connection among cultures. All in all, this is a fabulous, heartwarming talk. Enjoy!

Physician’s Round Table Conference

In less than a week, I will be speaking to the Medical Community regarding an insider’s experience of brain injury, as well as sharing information I’ve gleaned from coaching and other sessions with many survivors of brain injuries, Lyme Disease and other “Medical Mysteries.” The talk will include some insights shared in my book and video series. I feel honored to join such a prestigious group of professionals and leaders in these fields, and I also look forward to learning more information, resources and referral sources that will help me help my clients more.

I understand there are still some openings for interested parties who can get to Virginia Beach this week. If you’re already attending, please do stop by to introduce yourself! If you’d like extra guidance and insight while recovering from Lyme Disease, brain injury, MS or any other chronic condition or life transition, please also feel free to contact me for a private session. The easiest email to reach me at is brunoleaf @ yahoo.com.

Blessings and thanks for all the enthusiasm people have expressed about my involvement with the Physician’s Round Table.

The 2011 Physician’s Round Table
Doubletree Hotel, Virginia Beach, VA
January 27 – 30, 2011

The Physician Round Tables were started by Sue Vogan, journalist and health radio show host, in 2008. They were created as a learning tool where doctors, researchers, and other health care professionals could come together to discuss technology, protocols, and cases in a non-invasive, Gordon-style fashion. This elite group of professionals brings cutting edge information — the round table discussion sessions have produced research projects and have cemented professional relationships.

The theme is Common Denominators, a Physician’s Round Table initiative to explore the association between infections and chronic illnesses, using common denominators. This year’s conference is a well-balanced gathering of experts in their fields that work with and research well known common denominators that are observed in chronic illnesses – such as CFS, MS, ALS, FM, etc.

Our presenters will deliver scientific, evidenced based research combined with practical clinical experience for a better understanding of the common denominators seen in chronic illnesses. The physicians attending the round table discussions will be able to interact with Gordon-style freedom and perhaps provide missing pieces during the discussions. It is our hope that such exchange of information will lead to discoveries of new treatments and cures.
