Easy Peasy and Mercury Retrograde

Just a quick update to say my second set of wisdom teeth surgery went very well, especially compared to the first surgery in December 1994. This surgery took only 20 minutes, whereas that first one took four hours!

Last night I checked out my own astrological transits for today’s surgery compared to the surgery on December 26, 1994. Holy, moly! No wonder I almost didn’t awaken from the anesthesia in ’94. I had six Jupiter transits (often associated with death), including transit Jupiter exactly conjunct my natal Neptune. Jupiter enlarges everything it touches, and of all the planets, Neptune would be the one closest to drifting away in an anesthetic or opiate haze. I basically OD’d on anesthesia, because natural redheads uptake anesthesia very differently than others. They used so much to knock me out, but then it took me an alarming amount of time to come to.

On December 26, 1994, Pluto (planet of death, destruction and rebirth) had also just begun a long opposition of both my natal Midheaven and Sun. It would continue pummeling my entire packed 10th house with very little break from 1995-2008. Had I known astrology way back when, I would certainly have opted for different timing.

Everything works out for the best, though, and this latest surgery nearly 25 years later feels like such synchronized completion, perfect for a Mercury Retrograde. Redo, revamp, reclaim, recharge … all the re-‘s work well during a Mercury Rx period. So far, homeopathic arnica and hypericum are doing their post-surgery thing. I opted for no narcotics, and so far so good. All I feel is relief and a little bit of a puffy right cheek.

Thanks to everyone who’s sent prayers, Reiki and good wishes. The doctor confirmed my sense that I’ll be good to go for the lighter days of sessions I have scheduled this Thursday and Friday. Many blessings to all, and Happy Mercury Retrograde! If you dread these time periods, here’s an old post reminding you of how to make the most of Merc Rx.

If you need to do any of the non-recommended tasks during this period, just be extra careful of paperwork and communication. Many of my best, most long lasting decisions occurred during Merc Rx periods. I happen to love them, as they give a bit of wiggle room on things that might otherwise feel like a big, scary commitment. Blessings and enjoy the journey!

In Case You Wondered … Yes, the Energies Have Been Intense!

I keep getting emails, questions in sessions, and private texts from clients, friends and family asking me what the heck is up with the recent energies. Yes, they have been VERY intense! Some people have been using these energies as rocket fuel for positive changes. Others have felt overwhelmed by sudden health crises, major relationship flare-ups, mandatory evacuations, and “out of the blue” switcheroo’s.

I personally am doing very well, with lots of super synchronous opportunities appearing and requiring openness and readiness for change. I know many people have had their worlds rocked in the past two weeks, though, because I’ve heard about it in sessions. I coach a number of therapists, and they also noted a major uptick in crises, emotional outbursts and addictive relapses, especially since Easter. It feels like a big cleanse, in which the old gunk temporarily recirculates before its full release. It also feels like a time to go inward, and many people feel they simply cannot maintain the external obligations of a previous status quo.

Although my own life is going well, I had not one, but two, family emergencies last week, plus an onslaught of panicked correspondence from various people. To summarize, we’ve got four planets in Retrograde right now, including Mercury. You can find ways of dealing with Merc Rx by clicking here. Since April 9, Saturn, the cosmic task master, is moving Retrograde at the Galactic Center until August 25th, and we’ve got all manner of collective machinations ranging from civil unrest to World War 3. If you’re at all empathic or even the slightest bit conscious, such things exert influence on your life. The trick is to observe, consider (or reconsider) your options, and then commit (or recommit) to whatever makes your soul sing.

It really can be that simple. What step, right now, feels right in your gut? What brings surprising relief whenever you consider it? What choice, right now, supports those deep inner longings and desires that never seem to go away? What action, right now, aligns you with your path? With all these planets Rx, keep in mind that the next step might be a step backwards — a time to clean up, clear out, or review. If you cannot pass Go without taking this step, then stop resisting it. Use these strong Rx energies to focus on what demands attention before moving forward.

When choppy waves appear, we can drown or learn to ride them. We can throw ourselves to the sharks, or find our balance and glide with exhilaration. This is not a time for indecision; it’s a time for extreme presence, moment by moment. If you can’t make out the bigger picture, that’s fine. Just get clear on how you’d like to feel and then make micro-adjustments throughout the day to edge you closer to that feeling.

If you’d like extra support, please don’t hesitate to request a session. Big waves=big potential for lasting change.

Surf’s up, Lovey’s! Hang ten.

Loose Ends, New Year: Mercury Retrograde in January 2017

Happy 2017! I hope you’re all enjoying the shift from a “9” year of completions into a “1” year of new beginnings. It’s a little more fluid than that due to Mercury Retrograde still in effect until January 8th, and then with its decreasing shadow period for awhile afterwards. As with any external energy influence, you can align your attitude and tasks with the energies in order to create more ease and flow in your own experience. Traditional advice says, “Don’t make contracts or start anything new in a Mercury Retrograde period,” but it all depends on how you embrace or resist those influences. In my own life, I’ve continued tying up loose ends since December 19th, including “tying the Celtic Knot on Yule,” which David and I consciously chose for both the return to light aspect and for the sense of completion at this level of our spiral journey together. Timothy Glenn ~ Earth Retrograde

Here’s a timely one from my friend, Astrologer Timothy Glenn. I could provide a very long, twisty, turn-y, ouch-y, shaking my head and laughing intro about just how right he is, but if you’re living on planet Earth right now, you can probably provide your own synchronous intro. Happy New Moon, Happy Mercury Retrograde, and Happy Earth Retrograde!

Earth Retrograde

As we move into the Mercury retrograde of May 2015, people can now have something to “blame” for their wild and sundry symptoms of transmutation syndrome. For more than a week, a surprising number of folks have been saying things like, “It’s because of the retrograde.” Somewhere along the line, someone heard that we had entered the shadow (or foreshadow) of the Mercury retrograde, so this could now be designated as the cause of all the incidents happening outside the box of their suddenly antiquated interpretations of life.

Apparently, it doesn’t matter that we are barely a blink and a half beyond the seventh exact square of Uranus and Pluto. There is still plenty of time for the energies of this particular world-changing transit to unfold and play out, and there are other astrological influences at play.

All of this ignores where our solar system is currently sailing in relation to the rest of the galaxy. Yes, the planets are still exerting influence on each other in our little solar system game, but we are being profoundly affected by celestial powers on a far grander scale. On a galactic level, we are playing on fresh turf. Let’s pan the cameras back a bit.

Keep It Simple

Especially for those still trying desperately to play the game of life by their pre-2012 rulebooks, these can be trying times.

All points bulletin: “We are no longer in Kansas. Repeat. We are no longer in Kansas.”

We often simplify complex ideas by using analogies, so here is a simple analogy.

All points bulletin: “We are now in Permanent Earth Retrograde. Repeat. We are now in Permanent Earth Retrograde. Please remain calm. You may now proceed to the nearest exit marked Ascension Portal. However, such designations are subject to change without notice. Above all, please remain calm. Breathing is highly recommended. Again: We are now in Permanent Earth Retrograde.”

Don’t Panic

On the front cover of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, you can find these crucial two words (in large, friendly letters): Don’t Panic.

Panic equals fear on steroids. It will not help to flee in terror from panic. Nail-biting anxiety also fails to make the recommended list.

If you feel like a frightened child tip-toeing through a graveyard amidst the shadows of a full moon, you might sing or whistle a Beatles tune: All You Need Is Love.

Pure Infinite Divine Love, in all its unconditional glory, will guide you if you follow it. This Universal Love is the essence of the Infinitude, and is therefore the truest essence of this facet of God pretending to be You as an Earthling. Your own love essence can empower you to see the shadow realms of fear as temporarily manifested illusions, which will phase out of your perceptual range as you enter your own version of Heaven on Earth.

These Are the Times We’ve Been Talking About

The old rules no longer apply. In fact, they only applied in the old world because we made it so. The chrysalis has opened wider, and the time for our emergence has arrived.

Back to our analogy: we can fuss over Mercury or anyone else going retrograde, and then muddle our minds with interpretations based on an alleged reality that has lost its grip on us. Or we can imagine that we have begun a phase of Earth Retrograde that will carry us beyond the outdated concepts of linear time in the tick-tock reality.

As Eric Hoffer said, “In times of change learners inherit the earth; while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.
Perhaps we could forget what we thought we knew about Mercury retrograde, and embark on a magnificent new learning curve in a Permanent Earth Retrograde.

Happy Mercury Direct!

Take a deep breath and let it out with a long, relieved sigh: congratulations, you made it!

Yes, in answer to the many, many, many questions I’ve received from clients, blog readers and in emails, this past Mercury Retrograde must have set some records. Even people who “don’t believe in astrology” found themselves saying, “Mercury Retrograde” when their computers crashed, iPhones smashed, friendships went south, emails disappeared and financial situation went temporarily bonkers.

With planets ruled by Mercury all over my chart, I long ago needed to learn how to navigate Merc Rx, so I mostly sailed through this one. I knew to hunker down and focus on the re’s: research, review, revise, remember, reevaluate … and our house got quite the Imbolc cleaning. Multiple cleanings, in fact, since we had a busy round of visitors and house guests.

My calendar, however, reflects the insanity and rapid shifts most people experienced during the past few weeks. It looks like a chemtrailed sky, all criss-crossed with session cancellations, reschedules, and emergency sessions all jumbled together. On some days, not a single session went un-rescheduled. Occasionally, the final and original schedule ended up being the same, but getting there often involved some intense musical chairs as people frantically emailed me to change times — always synchronized with someone else needing to switch, too — only to find their original schedules fell back into place, as did mine. I had to laugh, because even with all the craziness, my calendar remained approximately the same. I just should have used pencil this Merc Rx. Actually, if I had, the pages would probably have ripped due to all the erasures! Having had numerous clients lose their entire electronic schedules, I know to use a physical, written calendar — chemtrails and all. 😉

I can’t tell you how many clients’ cell phones dropped calls, ran out of juice or otherwise lost their signal at some point during a call, because it happened pretty much every call, sometimes multiple times. I also can’t tell you how many long-time tension relationships finally exploded during the past three weeks, or how many people experienced extreme moments of clarity about decades long issues. Those who spent the time in the re’s found themselves rewarded. Those who tried to force themselves to start new projects experienced the restraining hand of the Merc Rx. If this sounds like you, please don’t judge yourself. Astrology is not destiny, but sometimes it sure feels like it! The pull during this period eclipsed all previous Mercury Retrogrades through which I’ve had the privilege of helping people. You were not alone.

On the bright side, we can slowly start moving forward with all our new insights and cleansed out lives. Doesn’t it feel good? C’mon, admit it, most of that stuff needed to go anyway, and you knew it, right? In any case, we can now survey the damages, but don’t forget to survey the gains. They will continue to reveal themselves over the next few months. (Technically, we’ve entered a stationary period in kooky Aquarius, but we’ve passed the retrograde. Things will begin to move forward in a couple days.)

Meanwhile, as my friend Toni says, “Take a breath of God.”

Relax.

Smile.

You made it!

Reminders, Resources, and Acknowledgements

Just a few things I find myself repeating in various forms to clients, blog readers, friends, family and acquaintances:

1) We’re now in Mercury Retrograde. Don’t be surprised by lost or delayed emails and snail mail, extra typos, messed up travel plans, miscommunications, overreactions and misunderstandings. Par for the course, folks. You can, however, find ways to thrive during a Mercury Retrograde. For those who could use some refresher tips, here’s a 2012 article with all sorts of explanations and suggestions.

2) The topic of friendship is front and center right now. I keep hearing from people facing major upheaval and frustration in their friendships and other close relationships. Part of this may be from the influence of #1, but the current major process of revision transcends a single astrological influence. In case you’ve been living under a rock, planet Earth faces too many extinction level challenges to name in one post without triggering panic. Have you ever known someone given a terminal diagnosis? Whether valid or not, that prospect usually initiates some soul searching:

“If I really might not have that much time left, how do I want to spend my remaining days? With whom do I want to spend my remaining time? How do I want to feel? What kind of legacy do I feel called to leave in my wake?” Whether conscious or not, humanity feels its impending terminal diagnosis, and individuals are in various stages of the corresponding soul crisis. It’s decision time, and some decisions are easier and more obvious than others.

Please don’t take things personally, and please don’t take my recognition of extinction level challenges as doom and gloom. Doing so would assume that I don’t believe people can rise to the challenge, and I very much sense that we each can. Whether we each will is a different story, but I know that we can. As I said, it’s decision time. Not everyone thrives on life or death choices. Some people panic, some push others away, some retreat and then return once they’ve gathered their thoughts and feelings. Consider tending to your own process and the influence that opens to you, rather than barreling uninvited into someone else’s intensely personal process.

3. Bodies need extra care right now. Please review Tom Kenyon’s message about Chaotic Nodes and how these affect the body. Even though he wrote that piece way back in crazy 2014, we’re still in those chaotic nodes. They’re increasing, not going away any time soon. Remember to honor your body’s needs if you want to make these transitions in body.

4. If you’re really at your wits’ end or even if you just want some extra support, I designed this month’s specials to help people move more easily through these energies. Please click here for details.

5. Remember to breathe — the cleaner the air, the better. For some of you that means indoor air with lots of plants, since outside is a chemtrail and car pollution soup. Get near some plants with leaves and inhale deeply. If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere with CO2 eating leaves outdoors, inhale deeply for the rest of us! Wherever you are, take at least a few moments to hug a tree and touch the ground. Your body is a part of the Earth, and reconnecting will balance the zips and zaps coming at us from all over the place. If you feel really challenged by the chemtrails, wifi, EMF pollution and other assaults, you might want to review this post on Amazing Orgone.

6. Design your own daily, monthly and seasonal rituals. These don’t need to be elaborate; they just need to be conscious and repeated. Rituals provide structure and grounding in the midst of chaos and confusion. They can also offer antidotes to the world’s current harshness, inviting us to reconnect with beauty, timelessness and alignment. A ritual can be as simple as a consciously appreciated and enjoyed cup of coffee or herbal tea or as elaborate as a group ceremony celebrating the Wheel of the Year. Listening to music, taking a well-timed cat nap, or wearing certain colors on certain days can all acquire ritual status. For additional ideas about designing a ritual, please see Laura Daligan’s recent video, “Ritual Corner.”

7. Whatever you’re going through, remind yourself that “This, too, shall pass.” Because, guess what? It will. Guaranteed. So long as humanity follows linear time, things will fade into the past, and as soon as humanity embraces the idea that all time is now, the act of consciously choosing what “time” to focus upon becomes an obvious option. Enjoy the journey; it’s one heckuva a ride. 🙂

Kelley Hunter ~ Shelter from the Storm

Happy New Moon! Thanks to Gillian for this one:

During this Cancer New Moon, we seek shelter and safety during what may feel like a rather stormy, yet exhilarating July. For the next week or so, fireworks ignite in the global transformation process as the Sun moves into the potent Pluto-Uranus Square. We hunker more deeply into our core for this intense, opportune offer of dynamic consciousness awakening. Already this year has been the peak of a rare planetary pattern that brings us to the next level of The Sixties. At moments during this process, like now, we may feel a very sweet, compassionate sensation, as if a divine mother is soothing and guiding us. We are helping each other in many ways as we make our way through these rough waters to safe harbor.

The Sabian Symbols are images that amplify the meaning of each degree of the Zodiac. This New Moon is at 6 degrees of Cancer with this essentially Cancer image:

In Spring, Game Birds Are Feathering Their Nests

Attention to home and hearth, inviting growth and well-being, preparing the ground for the inevitable change of the seasons.

Astrologer Lynda Hill, in her book, The Sabian Symbols as an Oracle, pictures “the desire for security amidst a rather risky situation…in readiness for new beginnings and new life.” She further writes, “Any security might only be temporary. Be careful not to become complacent, and ensure that you aren’t frightened at any sudden surprises or moves.”

These times we live in are relentless, urgent for growth. As the Sun in Cancer moves further into the Uranus-Pluto Square, we may have to relinquish cherished situations, relationships or experiences that we are growing beyond. It is time to stretch out beyond the crab shell that is pinching, tightening, like the womb when it becomes too small to contain the new life ready to be born. As we open to and welcome the new, have faith that it is for the best, we are feather our nests with a level of emotional comfort and stability that we need. We find safety and security blossoming from the inside out.

One of Cancer’s profound lessons is to realize that change is one constant we can count on; there is no holding on to the past. Change = growth in some form, even as we expand beyond limitations of that old shell. A little feng shui is in order to attune our inner space to the emerging energetic fields. The landscape in and around us is changing. Do you feel it? Of course. As we find the note, the tonality that pleases, that feels most resonant, we find our pathway to go with the flow. We rearrange our lives. Be radical. Trust yourself. Remembering, as Edith Wharton wrote, “Life has a way of overgrowing its achievements as well as its ruins.” Too much of a good thing is not good anymore. It is time to let go and move on to greener pastures.

Wisdom planet JUPITER is finishing its enriching year in Cancer. At this New Moon, Jupiter is at a pivotal point, stretching us to fulfill our destiny. It feels like a warm, big hug, giving us a hearty send-off—”Go forth and prosper!” Big Planet Jupiter prepares to move into the creative fires of Leo in mid-July. Let’s see what else Jupiter suggests from its Sabian Symbol of 26 Cancer:

Guests Are Reading In The Library Of A Luxurious Home

Home again, we turn to the wisdom of the ages, learning new things and, perhaps, stretching our hearts and minds beyond old belief systems that no longer ring true. We consult with the ancestors. We feel resonance with something greater than ourselves. We share what we know. We offer what we have to give. We find support and comfort in the perennial wisdom of the ages, as we take each step, remaining fully in the present as we move into today’s future. Indeed, with this New Moon cycle, we are moving into a key turning point of 2014, with Jupiter opening expansive opportunities to become more of who we truly are.

RETROGRADE MERCURY reverses its direction in a few days, turning with the calendar month. We had PLENTY (a Jupiter word) of introspective, retrograde reflection and reconsideration all year. Now is the time to move on. The caravans are pulling into formation. The wagon trains are heading west. What is our modern equivalent of the pioneering trails? That’s where we are all going, listening to our “compass rose,” our heart’s directive.

Along with the forward movement of Mercury, the end of June features two other planetary patterns with very different flavors.

MARS directly opposite Uranus on this New Moon can play out in a challenging, potentially nasty power punch leading to sudden breakthroughs, split ups, and outbreaks of revolution or violence. We already see such activity in several global hot spots. We can’t assume we are being told the truth about what is going on amidst hidden negotiations behind the scenes.
No matter. Let’s attend to our clarifying our own energy and how we plan to proceed. I like what Aussie Astrologer Maggie Kerr wrote:

“With change agent Uranus opposite activator Mars in the New Moon planetary mix there can be apparently ‘unexpected’ moves…which are not really so unexpected…you’ve just been putting them off. Remember not to project any confusion or anger at others, as the whole point of this past year has been to become aware of old limiting feelings, clear & release them, dismantle our defenses, and give ourselves permission to trust our feelings in a whole new way.”

A basic life choice is to fear or to love. The results of these extremes are evidently playing out. All year we have been weighing our options in view of fresh possibilities. Something must be done and we can’t do it the old way. We each count. We each make our choices. Bridges are burning behind us, as we reach toward a cosmic beckoning hand. A lovely and loving flow of sensitive, caring energy saturates our feelings, highlighted by some special moments where everything synchronizes beautifully like an uplifting symphony, a prayer, a divine decree.

How do we juggle these two streams in our experience? It likely requires a paradigm shift. It can happen inside any moment. With this New Moon, a strong, incoming creative rush of delight in alternative possibilities gives us the heart and courage to go for the gold.

Baci e abracci— kisses and hugs!
Namaste—I salute the god/goddess in you.
Aloha — The shared spirit within us is in harmony with all that is.
Vaya con Dios — Go with God.
Shanti, Shalom, Dona Nobis Pacem — Peace, peace, grant us peace.
