My January 2022 Forecast ended with:
January 31 (in some locations) New Moon in Aquarius. If you live in or behind the Central US timezone, January ends with a New Moon. Anywhere on Eastern US time or further ahead will begin February with a New Moon. This event loosely conjuncts Saturn, aka “Father Time,” so involving two dates and two months, beginning and end, feels apt. The New Moon point also closely squares Uranus, so we can expect more insights and aha’s about last year’s energies. Although we’ve entered the new, we still have much to glean from 2021.
… and the February 2022 Forecast shares:
February 1 New Moon in Aquarius, 12:46 a.m. Eastern. The Sun and Moon conjunct Saturn and square Uranus, bringing new insights into energies of the prior year. We can also view this New Moon as “A BAROMETER” of things to come. How do various groups relate to each other and to ongoing questions of personal sovereignty, top down authority, revolution, mob role and potential “tyranny” “for the greater good”? We won’t find definitive answers yet, but we can put a finger to the wind and prepare for future outcomes. This New Moon coincides with the traditional date for Imbolc, which celebrates having made it halfway through Winter, when ewes produce their first milk. A time of sustenance and taking stock.
Dane Rudhyar’s Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is:
PHASE 313 (AQUARIUS 13°): A BAROMETER.
KEYNOTE: The ability to discover basic natural facts that allow us to plan in advance for action.
Here we are no longer dealing with ascent or descent, but with natural laws which involve causal relationships and the passage of one natural condition into another. The barometer registers air pressure, and a change of pressure today gives some indication of what the weather will be tomorrow. In a sense this is the modern scientific equivalent of archaic prognostication through omens. Likewise, animals grow a more or less thick fur in early autumn according to whether the winter will be more or less severe. Planning for the near future is a possibility because the potential (or seed) of the future is already operating at the core of the present.
This third symbol of the sixty-third sequence tells us that it is most important to seek — by whatever means and at whatever level of consciousness — a knowledge of causal progression. In the broadest sense this implies an awareness of cyclic processes, and this includes astrology. The Keyword is ANTICIPATION.
This is a good time period for tarot or oracle card readings, and for paying extra attention to signs and synchronicities.
Even closer than Saturn — Lord of Karma — this New Moon conjuncts asteroid Astraea, the Star Goddess. In some traditions, she is also associated with Lady Justice, and I mentioned her in the write-up for Divine Doorway Number 22: Justice. We might consider this New Moon a barometer of Justice — leaning more towards Divine Justice rather than strictly through the courts.
The New Moon also conjuncts asteroid Diana, who symbolizes freedom and independence. Diana represents the part of us that remains free, no matter what occurs around us. We can always tap into that freedom, but this powerful New Moon in Aquarius — the sign of liberty and authenticity — reminds us to put a finger to wind and move in the direction of our freest, truest Self.
