Happy Love Day + Eclipse Energy Info

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Love Day, however you celebrate the force of Love in your life. Below these beauties, you’ll find information on tomorrow’s eclipse. My natal chart features an Aquarius Moon, so I’ve already been feeling this energy. I know some people prefer to ignore the Moon, but given tides and our own water content, I still find it valuable to know what the energies support. Go with the flow and all that. 😉 Please use your own intuition and discernment, and feel the Love …

Aquarius New Moon: The Veil is Lifted”

Aquarius New Moon

February 2, 2011 6:30 pm PST

“The veil is lifted”

Amazing discoveries all around these accelerated days as “the veil is lifted” and that which was hidden becomes revealed. There is much more to come as we remain grounded in our truth and integrity.

Today’s New Moon in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius brings into prominence the global instability and rebellion as this electric New Moon joins inflammatory Mars. Expect sudden and unexpected changes in your own life as well as in outer worldly affairs. Decisions are to be made which now cause changes in the course of your life.

“Mars is often associated with the forceful or awry use of power. However, in its mature expression, Mars is an initiating force. Mars is of creativity, sexuality, vitality, life force, power and self-expression. Mars stimulates our ability to respond to life with creative assertive action.” The lunar planner

This New Moon represents the digital age and the lightening fast processing of wireless communication. The Aquarian energy provides insight and intuitive understanding of new information coming from every direction. This planetary line-up is known as “power operating”…it is a concentrated massing of energy. This energy has effects in every area of your life.

Always keep in mind that the ruling planet of this lunation is electrifying Uranus …planet of the highest energy of all. Uranus is the planet of destiny and the energy you cannot control. You can only control your reaction to it. Today brings a challenging aspect to Venus the planet of love along with the power of unconventional attraction. The experience of relationships which run hot and cold…passionate and then detached leads to emotional upsets through lack of constancy and commitment. The Uranus/Venus connection leads to exciting infatuations followed by later indifference.

Caution is advised in any new romances and partnerships as love and friendship are confused. Even current and on-going relationships will be severely tested through this dynamic connection today which may force you to face issues and fears previously ignored and in the process you grow…either together or apart.

The quickest way to release ourselves from difficulties is to face them and solve them…these are lessons from the past left unlearned. Only you know and understand your own hidden agenda and shadows and now the awareness and realization bring love and

THE PATH OF SOUL – “When we have experienced enough pain, we find our way back home to our spiritual source. We let go of the illusion of separation to embrace unity and wholeness.”

These are the days when thoughts manifest more quickly and effectively than ever before in our lifetimes. It is time to wake up and realize you get what you concentrate on …that which persists in your thoughts and dreams takes form in outer events and situations. Watch your thoughts and monitor your reactions to the drama playing out before your very eyes. You have a destiny role in every aspect of every-thing right now!

The accelerating effect of the expansive Jupiter joined with revolutionary Uranus provides the courage and inspiration to join with like-minded individuals and proceed in new directions. Fate is forcing a change of direction. The path which you thought you were treading in life takes a few unexpected twists and turns during this period. It is a process of discarding old habits in favor of new experiences, in particular metaphysical experiences.

The greatest indication here is that now is to begin extending yourself to the needs of others and to engage in meaningful giving… Aquarius is the sign of spiritual rebirth. You may also find yourself anxious to help those less fortunate than you as an unselfish side of your personality emerges. Contributing to your favorite charity and doing volunteer work will distract yourself from constant cycle of difficult daily personal issues.

Always Loving Life,

Electra

Door Number 12: The World Card

Door Number 12 is another commissioned piece, located in the same hallway as Door Number 11. I hadn’t planned to paint a second door there, but the patron felt so happy with Door Number 11 and the bathroom door kept “talking” to me, so we agreed it needed “to express itself.” I know it sounds weird, but all three of us discussed the vision for this door — in ordinary conversations and then in dreams. I had not planned to paint a tarot card on this one, but The World Card hijacked my dreams, reminding me of how Freya and Frigga jumped in ahead of The Lovers for Door Number 6.

The World Card, Door Number 12 by Laura Bruno

The homeowner wanted the Runes for Joy and Flow in this door, and I had intended to create something entirely different, but the World Card or “Starry Dancer” appeared every time I closed my eyes. When I began researching this card, I realized why. We had decided to make this a “backwards portal,” with the image inside the bathroom instead of in the hallway. Door Number 11’s faery dominates that space and having another full image just seemed too much with the patterned rug. A small mantra, on the other hand, seemed like a nice accent.

Synchronously, the World Card is number 21 in the tarot deck, a backwards version of 12. It’s also an upside down and opposite image of the Hanged Man Card, number 12 in the tarot deck. The Hanged Man is, in turn, associated with Odin, the “father of the Runes” who hung suspended from a tree for nine days, saw the Runes upside down, understood their meaning and claimed them as his own. The back of the Freya and Frigga portal features Odin’s Rune Song. What does all this “mean”?

Heck if I know, but it seems relevant! These portals arrive in dreams, nudges and synchronicities. The Hanged Man stands for stasis and uncertainty, masculine suspension, whereas the World Card celebrates a union of male and female and a joyful fulfillment and dance. These portals do seem to have their own order and method, so I just follow along as best as I can. 🙂

That said, I think Door Number 12 is my favorite one so far. I loved the opportunity to expand outward onto the molding. To me, the bathroom seems like twice the size with this addition.

Detail, Door Number 12 by Laura Bruno

Typically, the World Card contains images for the four fixed signs in astrology: Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo and Taurus (clockwise from upper left), which translates into a man, a scorpion, a lion and a bull. The patron really did NOT want these images in the bathroom, but it felt important to include their energy in their door. I opted for the astrological symbols themselves, which you can see surrounding the laurel wreath.

Speaking of laurel wreaths, this door also seems to tie in to Door Number 3, the Daphne Door/Tree of Life, which also features laurel leaves and a woman (in that case with only her feet dancing). In tarot the third card would be the Empress, and Door Number 3 has a Chakana (the navel of the Earth) on Daphne’s belly. These cards and the Chakana also play key roles in Schizandra and the Gates of Mu.

All these 3’s! What do they mean? I don’t know, but I find the patterns and interconnections curious and fun to explore. I don’t consider this portal series “mine.” I custom design them according to patron request and dreams, but they seem to present themselves in interesting and insistent ways.

If you look closely, you can see all the patron’s intended elements encoded into the dancer’s hair and the laurel leaves:

Runes in the hair and leaves

The bottom quote announced itself in the usual “can’t get it out of my head” way and seemed perfect in meaning and feel:

For the back, which is really the front of this door, the Gayatri Mantra wanted to go there. Trouble is, the Gayatri is long, and we had opted for mantra-side out in order to minimize the details in the hallway. I remembered that the Gayatri is preceded by an introduction of sorts: oṃ(ॐ) and the formula bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ (भूर् भुवः स्वः), known as the mahāvyāhṛti (“great utterance”).

We decided to include the great utterance and a red lotus, which also appears on Door Number 7, the Lovers. Interestingly, to me anyway 🙂 , the full Gayatri Mantra covers the other side of Door Number 2, The Alchemy Door.

I find these doors a curiouser and curiouser process. The more I paint, the more interconnected and layered they become. The homeowner from Door Number 10 just asked me to paint Door Number 13 in her home. Fun, but also synchronous, as I have had Dan Brown’s “The Lost Symbol” sitting around on my bookshelf for months. For some reason, I got the sudden urge to start reading it this weekend, right after the patron and I determined which door to paint. Lo and behold, “The Lost Symbol” tells a story about portals and features a very important Door Number 13! I don’t know what to make of all these things, but I do know this: I felt light and free after finishing the World Card. Here’s a spontaneous photo taken the following day:

Door Number 11 (The Star Card)

The Star Card/Door Number 11 by Laura Bruno

Door Number 11 was another commissioned piece at a secret location. As far as portals go, this one involved more prep time than usual. The patron wanted energy of the surrounding pristine forests embedded into the door itself, which required this Chicago artist to spend a week hiking and relaxing in some of the most gorgeous country I’ve ever seen. Yes, it was heavenly and a welcome change of scenery. 🙂

Before I paint a commissioned portal, I always spend some time gethering a sense of what the patron needs and wants in life right now and in the future. Many times, but not always, those hopes and intentions suggest a tarot card to me, and I research different artistic interpretations already “out there.” Then I spend time in the actual home, noting style, colors, and overall “feel.” I also like to get people talking about whatever feeds their souls — do they return again and again to particular images, myths or cultures? If so, I try to work some of those into the door, honoring the original energy of the tarot card, but personalizing it.

If a patron has dreams or synchronicities while I’m painting, I pay particular attention to those, as well as my own dreams and nudges. In the case of Door Number 11, the patron dreamt of the back mantra and also requested “faery energy” on the door. I opted to change the typical nude woman into a faery, and we were both pleased with the results. I then used Runes to code the door’s textures and threshold to exactly those elements most important to the patron’s healing and intentions. For confidentiality reasons, I am not explaining ALL the details of this door, but the patron is happy to share the image and some of the explanation with the world. We hope you enjoy the portal!

The Star card is number 17 in the tarot deck and it usually features a nude woman with two urns. From one urn she pours water into a pond and from the other onto the land. Because of the urns, this card is associated with Aquarius, “the water bearer,” as well as the Age of Aquarius and its connection to the astrology and the stars. The card features eight eight-pointed stars, which correspond to an ancient Masonic symbol, l’etoile flamboyante. One thing I feel called to share in these portals is a reclaiming of ancient symbols, including Runes and symbols that may have been appropriated by groups or organizations using them for personal gain. I’m not singling out the Masons here, btw, just explaining what appears to be a broader intention of these doors — helping people to reclaim powerful tools, which have been taken away, hidden (occult means hidden) or otherwise denied access. Tarot, Runes, Sacred Geometry, Numerology, Astrology and other symbols or systems that speak to the subconscious do not belong to any one particular group. Part of our shift on this planet involves lightworkers reclaiming the tools at their disposal.

In any case, the eight eight-pointed stars carry much significance. Among other things: 8 x 8 = 64; 64 codons to human DNA; 64 possible readings in the I Ching; 64 squares on a chess board; and 64 is an important and common number represented in binary code.

Dragonfly closeup

The Star Card often shows and Ibis in a tree as reference to the Egyptian God, Thoth; however, the patron doesn’t resonate with that tradition. We opted instead for a dragonfly, which carries both personal and universal signficance.

As with all commissioned doorways, the thresholds are also coded to specific intentions. Thresholds offer potent energy, existing as they do “in the spaces between”:

As mentioned earlier, the other side of Door Number 11 came from the patron’s dream, as well as some of my own dream symbols. The mantra, “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudeevaya” strengthens the aura and seemed like an appropriate one for inside a meditation and healing room. It translates roughly to: O my Lord, the all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You.

I had fun painting the symbol, which morphed from an intended Flower of Life mandala into one expressing the Trinity:

Door Number 11 holds a special place in my heart, especially since 11 is my own life path number and because I also resonate strongly with faeries. I completed Door Number 12 in the same home and will post photos of that one soon. Thanks to everyone who finds these portal journeys fun as well.
