Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio ~ May 5, 2023

My May 2023 Forecast notes:

May 5 Full Moon in Scorpio, Lunar Eclipse, 1:34 p.m. Eastern US time. In addition to the intense Scorpio Eclipse, today marks the official cross-quarter day of Beltane, when the Sun reaches 15 Taurus. The timing of an Eclipse + Beltane thins the veil between worlds even more than usual. At the time of this “Flower Moon,” Venus in Gemini still squares Neptune in Pisces, so feelings run high and low. Practice good energy hygiene, because things could feel intense. Even though it’s a South Node Eclipse (which usually explores the past), this one looks toward “FUTURE-ORIENTED GROWTH.” We’ve entered new territory, so keep your wits about you.

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse is: (SCORPIO 15°): CHILDREN PLAYING AROUND FIVE MOUNDS OF SAND. KEYNOTE: Early steps in the development of a mind seeking to be attuned to the higher level of human evolution. Dane Rudhyar continues, “In this final stage [of a cycle] … the transcendent possibilities of mental evolution, which require interpersonal communion in consciousness, are evoked. The free spirit of true scientific inquiry is only a foreshadowing of such a type of mind, which demands dedication to mankind as a whole. What is seen here is FUTURE-ORIENTED GROWTH.”

South Node eclipses usually look backwards, but the May 5th eclipse points towards the future. We can utilize these energies by reclaiming old skills, blessings and interests from earlier life or prior lifetimes.

This eclipse is also an inversion of the November 8, 2022 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 16°00′ Taurus. Look at that time period for clues about which areas may arise for a redo now. Scorpio themes include: death and rebirth, intimacy, power struggles, the victim-abuser paradigm, shared resources, Shadow issues, regeneration and all kinds of sexuality.

November 8, 2022 was also Election Day in the US, so we could see revelations or deeper understanding of hidden elements surrounding that election. The Arizona Governor’s race remains highly contested. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, shows up around May 5 and over the next six months of eclipse influence.

At the time of the eclipse, Mars conjuncts the US natal Mercury, so we could see increasing battles for “the narrative.” The information warfare that occurred during the seven months of Mars in Gemini will re-up now and for at least six months. The Sun point conjuncts Uranus, another future-oriented element of this eclipse–one that demands revolution and liberation. This could be a trigger that sets off bigger developments later this month and year.

There’s so much more with this eclipse, but I had a bizarre–I could say impossible–injury on Sunday, which ordered me to slow down. I have a pre-recorded video discussing other aspects of this Scorpio Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, and I’ll post that closer to May 5th.

On a personal note, the upcoming New Moon on May 19th conjuncts my Midheaven–exactly, to the minute! Mars conjuncted my Midheaven this past August when I broke my pinky toe in another freak accident involving a different door. May 19, 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of my life-changing traumatic brain injury, and on that date–May 19, 1998–both Mars and the Sun conjuncted my Midheaven.

I will turn 50 on May 22nd. Chiron (Wound and Wounded Healer) is fast approaching my natal Chiron, which exactly opposes my natal Uranus, all while my progressed Sun squares that axis to trigger extended chaos, liberation and healing. All of this occurs during seven(!) Pluto transits, plus a bunch of Saturn transits. Pluto stationed Retrograde last night within one degree of my natal Moon.

I recently told someone, “My transits are the kind that if I had me as a client I would be afraid to tell the person just HOW rough things could get. All things considered, I’m doing well.” But when “impossible accidents” tell me to slow down and not write such comprehensive posts for awhile, I’m gonna listen! I am walking on an insanely high wire right now, attempting to navigate a tricky passage for which I have been very well prepared.
