February 2021 Forecast and First Quarter North Node Horoscopes

FEBRUARY 2021 FORECAST

February begins with Venus entering Aquarius on the 1st, just in time for Imbolc or St. Bridget’s Day. Light a candle and clean house — metaphorically or otherwise. Cleaning moves old, stuck energy, and Aquarius loves to shake things up, especially after 2020’s slow, heavy Capricorn.

Venus brings the tally to five planets in Aquarius this month. That much Aquarian energy activates everyone, and communications could go extra wonky with Mercury retrograde until February 20. If someone hasn’t replied to your email or confirmed payment, don’t flip out — check to make sure nothing evaporated in transit. With Venus and Jupiter in the mix, we can expect some sweet spots, especially mid-month. Aquarius is the sign of friendship and the group. Open yourself to unusual collaboration. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius North Node natives will feel extra zaps from all these Aquarian lightning bolts. At any given point this month, something’s bound to be activating your nodal axis of where you’re headed and where you’ve been.

Meanwhile, on the collective level, Neptune in Pisces continues to square the collective nodal axis of Gemini North Node and Sagittarius South Node. This transit adds an extra layer of confusion to rapid fire changes in how we navigate and understand consensus reality. We can wallow in disillusion, deception, nostalgia and addictions, or embrace the higher qualities of Neptune. Beauty, bigger picture spiritual awareness, inspiration, harmony and selfless service can shift the collective in more positive directions. February’s a great time for art, music, prayer, meditation, and anything that helps you feel connected to All That Is.

February 9, Saturn sextiles Wounded Healer Chiron. This transit offers supportive energy towards karmic healing and/or maturation acquired through the School of Hard Knocks. This week offers a good time for journaling, taking responsibility for your own healing, and/or consulting with a teacher or mentor.

February 11 New Moon in Aquarius brings the tally to six major planetary bodies in the sign of brotherly love and the cosmic rebel. This New Moon offers an extra sweet monthly reset as Jupiter and Venus kiss in the sky that same day. Big Love! On February 12, we start the Chinese New Year — year of the ox.

February 17 Saturn in Aquarius has his first exact square to Uranus in Taurus. We’ve already previewed these energies with the GameStop and Robinhood events in late January. Masses of small investors joined together to topple the big hedge funds. The establishment’s freak out woke up way more people to ideas of a rigged system, fractional reserve funny money, and the precarious nature of business as usual. These “we’re not gonna take it!” energies will last all year, punctuated by the exact Saturn-Uranus squares on February 17, June 15, and December 24, 2021.

If this transit were clothing brands, it would be prana, Free People or Anthropologie. If we were on a plane, the flight attendant would say, “Attention passengers. We’re experiencing some unexpected turbulence. Captain Universe has turned on the Fasten Seat Belt Sign.” If you do yoga, you’ll find that safely practicing inversions like shoulder-stand, headstand and plow pose yields even greater benefits than usual. The key to thriving in 2021 — especially during exact squares of Saturn and Uranus — is “expect the unexpected.” Learn to pivot in shifting sands. Find your wings and fly if the status quo runs off a cliff. Dancing to the beat of your own drum moves you through changing times, with fun and grace.

February 18, the Sun enters Pisces, shining on dewdrops of mystery, romance, beauty and higher love. Between the February 11 New Moon, Venus conjunct Jupiter, the Sun entering romantic Pisces, followed by Venus square Mars (supercharging attraction on the 19th), we can celebrate Valentine’s Week. Embrace true love, higher love — all aspects of love, including love for the cosmic beauty shining through you. Remember: Love is the most powerful force in the Universe.

February winds down with a Full Moon in Virgo on the 27th. Use Virgo’s Earth energy ruled by Mercury to ground yourself from any mental surprises or activation earlier this month. Virgo deals with daily habits, health, service and discernment. Pay attention to how you feel, and make dietary or other adjustments as needed. Focus on re-calibration.

How February’s sky weather affects you will vary, depending on your entire natal chart, but your North Node Horoscope transcends monthly sky events. That’s because your North Node reveals what your soul came here to do. By midlife, the soul starts longing and pressing us to live our true purpose. At first, it whispers through intuition. Then it knocks a little louder through “coincidences” and external events. When not heard and honored, the soul’s longing can show up as health crises, marriage or work issues, or wondering “is this all there is?” If you feel a need to reinvent yourself, following North Node guidance helps you do that authentically — for you.

Unlike generic Sun Sign horoscopes, which ignore so many other aspects, following North Node guidance will always lead you in the right direction. Doors open, healing happens, relationships improve, and life gets more magical. This monthly column will help you tap into your personal North Node Mojo. When you start living your North Node purpose, we all win, because you not only begin to light up your own life. You light up the world.           – Laura

FIRST QUARTER 2021 NORTH NODE HOROSCOPES

ARIES NORTH NODE: The theme for First Quarter 2021 is finding a new balance of helping others and being helped. Your sign’s ruler, Mars, spent a record six month in Aries in 2020. That fiery energy activated destiny level shifts for Aries North Node natives. Now you need to ground those shifts into tangible, real world things. “Put your money where you mouth is” can mean literally funding your new venture, or it could mean “talk is cheap, get to work!” You might need to use some of your Libra South Node skills to negotiate financial support for a new idea or circumstance that puts you in a leadership role. In any case, you’ll want to pay more attention to the 3D steps to solidify whatever inspiration or passion ignited during the second half of 2020. This first quarter of 2021 brings a chance for healing, love, and rebirth. Hard work pays dividends.

TAURUS NORTH NODE: First Quarter 2021 urges unusual, innovative and unexpected upgrades in communication. This can include animals, Spirit Guides, and crystals, as well as cyberspace. Pay attention to sudden insights that arrive through friction or irritation. Your perceptions are high right now. If you feel the need for increased boundaries, build those into your daily life. Slow and steady movement on larger projects ensures you’ll still make progress, even if things take longer than you planned. “Delay leads to delight.” Allow for more time than you think you need. Pay attention to how spiritual forces impact your body. You might feel better implementing daily prayer or meditation, yoga or tai chi. Feel the flow of energy in your home, too. January through March encourages you to reorganize your closet or feng shui your home. Ask yourself if this stuff still feels like “you” or if you need an upgrade.

GEMINI NORTH NODE: Indulge your gift of the gab, and start writing! Whether in a journal, blog, letters or book, you need to express yourself during First Quarter 2021. Gemini North Node natives are learning to consider two or more sides to everything. New perspectives allow you to find love and community in unexpected places. Tell your story, and give yourself a happy ending. Then, continue balancing all the elements, so that you can keep walking forward, no matter how much you want to dig in your heels. Yours is one of the most magical North Node signs — if you allow yourself to recognize and receive the messages. The Universe, God, angels, and animals all love to communicate with those who have “eyes to see and ears to hear.” You can heal yourself and others by opening to wonder. Life is complex and beautiful. Follow synchronicity and embrace the Mystery.

CANCER NORTH NODE: You don’t need to do it all yourself! First Quarter 2021 asks you to focus on partnership and nurturing. You might feel off kilter from all the external drama in January, but take a moment to assess if anyone’s really getting hurt. Your Capricorn South Node likes order and a certain amount of tradition. The new energies in rebel Aquarius can rock foundations. You’ll feel better as you move from judgment into feeling. It’s OK to feel afraid sometimes. Expressing your vulnerable side lets others know you’re in this together. When you express your own need for support, you find the security you seek. Not by being perfect, but by connecting with those you love. Aquarian energy has an outward focus, yet you thrive by tending to your own family, home and private sphere. The world will sort itself out — or not. Life rewards you for soft touches, womb-like cocoons, and gentle words and tones.

LEO NORTH NODE: Maturation is the name of the game with so many planets moving through your South Node sign of Aquarius. Whenever multiple planets cross your South Node, old acquaintances and familiar patterns vie for your attention. Take some time to assess where you’ve been, so that you can feel more satisfied with wherever you feel led. Going along to get along won’t serve you anymore. You need to get in touch with whatever makes your heart sing. First Quarter 2021 asks you to embrace the Divine Feminine. Her energy might come through the January 28 Full Moon in Leo, your own enhanced intuition, or an energizing chat with a female friend. Watch for new opportunities, especially if they arise through seeming friction or irritation. Instead of roaring in frustration, cultivate some catlike curiosity. Position yourself to pounce on unexpected solutions, including financial windfalls.

VIRGO NORTH NODE: The big First Quarter event for Virgo North Node natives is the February 27 Full Moon in Virgo. You’ll get more out of this transit if you prepare yourself ahead of time. Spend some time in quiet retreat. 2021 would be a great time to commit to a daily spiritual practice. Regular meditation, yoga or scheduled time in prayer helps you to welcome spiritual support into daily life. “Commitment” is your power word this year. Use January to get clear, and then find ways to solidify your devotion. This integration of mystical inspiration with practical steps allows you to thrive no matter what happens around you. Reach for the light at the end of the tunnel, knowing you can make your way there, step by careful step. Focus on the scenery as you make your way to any bigger picture goal. Those little jewels bring so much wealth and beauty to your journey. “God is in the details.” ~Ludwig Meis van der Rohe

LIBRA NORTH NODE: Focus on “Forgiveness” during First Quarter 2021. Forgiving yourself and others frees you to move more fully and joyfully into the Now. Ask yourself, “What old wounds, resentments or battles can I release in order to make room for something better?” Because something better wants to find you. Your astro climate changed on Winter Solstice. Supportive Aquarian energies offer release after years of pressure. Leaning into this innovative and cooperative zeitgeist will help you transcend isolated or lone wolf tendencies. Look for unconventional, yet practical solutions to problems. Old tools used in new ways. Anger can turn to frustration, depression — or determination. Practice choosing where and how to direct your feelings. You can harness the energy of raw emotions as rocket fuel for living a more magical life. Things flow better for you when you partner with others, including invisible helpers and unusual friends. Begin to explore how Loving Connection forms the fabric of the Universe.

SCORPIO NORTH NODE: Yours is one of the most intuitive of the North Node signs. Your feelings run deep, and sometimes fear limits you from flying. Your Taurus South Node wants security, proceeding step by little step, but your life path involves quantum leaps and regeneration. Pay attention to timing during First Quarter 2021. Yes, you’ll feel some occasional traffic jams and roadblocks from all the planets in Aquarius and Taurus, but don’t give up on opportunities. “No” might simply mean “not yet.” It might also mean, “No, not this: something so much better!” Allow yourself to recognize your need and desire for intimacy, deep sharing, and the ability to move through raw emotions. You’ll experience greater calm and clarity as you realize that “This, too, shall pass” doesn’t only mean loss. As the zodiac’s alchemists, Scorpio North Node natives can turn metaphorical lead into gold. “Transmutation” is your word for First Quarter 2021. Find a creative outlet for all that energy.

SAGITTARIUS NORTH NODE: The collective South Node continues making its way through your North Node sign. This tension between old and new, collective and personal increases the importance of perfect timing. Don’t let delays dim your faith. Powerful Aquarian energies support you now. Aquarius Air fans Sagittarius fire. You might feel this as heartwarming connections with friends, both old and new. You could also find yourself supercharged and renewed by philosophical, religious or scholarly ideas. Explore ways to bring more of this passion into everyday life. Knowing something feels different than thinking about something. Focus on knowing. Strong beliefs ignite and expand your outer world experience. Be bold. Your soul needs big adventures. If 3D world travel restrictions feel too tight, then open your mind and heart to inner travel. You’ve got a great mind and powerful intuition. Practice integrating these competing sides of yourself. When in doubt, pray. Ask for Divine Guidance and follow where it leads.

CAPRICORN NORTH NODE: What wisdom can you extract from the last three years? Looking backwards at the beginning of a year helps you get grounded before building something big. Use the First Quarter to nurture your body, assess finances and appreciate the bounty you’ve gathered in all areas of life. You’ve worked hard, Capricorn! With a better sense of where you’ve been, prepare to prune anything out of alignment with the direction you feel led to grow. Keep plans close to your vest. You do better not telegraphing your every move. Hearing too much commentary weakens your resolve, because you empath other people’s fears and emotional reactivity. If you seek more clarity, then a journal or life coach may serve you better than a well meaning, but dream crushing friend or family member. You can climb literal and metaphorical mountains. Sometimes the journey feels hard. Refresh yourself by swimming in an alpine lake — or with an at home spa day — then keep going. Life rewards your determination.

AQUARIUS NORTH NODE: Although transition remains a long, slow process, we officially entered the Age of Aquarius on Winter Solstice 2020. First Quarter 2021 brings powerful activation for Aquarius North Node natives. You might not realize it, but you’re in your element. Focus on unusual guidance and lightning bolt insights. Sometimes life will feel chaotic, like you’ve jumped on the back of a wild horse. Other times, you’ll feel the slow, stabilizing force of traditional Saturn in liberating Aquarius. Embrace changes that feel urgent or deeply necessary, but don’t force yourself to work too hard. When big planets move through your North Node sign, the “open door, closed door” effect becomes more obvious. Stop banging your head against closed doors. Something will open for you, and it will do so right on time. Once things get going, destiny will pull you along. You just need to cultivate balance and ground the energy pulsing through you. Record your ideas, whether in a journal or on your phone. Inspiration will strike. These moments are fleeting yet powerful. Harness them.

PISCES NORTH NODE: “Creative daydreaming” is your phrase for First Quarter 2021. Before you commit to anything, make sure it feels soft, nurturing and/or magical. Yours is the dreamiest North Node sign. The collective nodal axis continues to square your North and South Node signs. This can feel like friction or restriction. Try not to get bogged down in details. You don’t need to plan everything ahead of time. In fact, planning too much slows you down. If something seems delayed, go back to the dreaming board. Literally ask your dreams to help you find and live your most beautiful and inspired life. Spend time in mystical pursuits: prayer, chanting, even a good soak in the tub. Add some candlelight and Chopin — whatever it takes to bring mind chatter to a minimum. Your Spirit merges into Oneness whenever you let go. From this womblike connection flow all the elements of creative life.

January 28 Full Moon in Leo

My January forecast notes:

The Full Moon in Leo arrives on January 28 at 2:16 p.m. Eastern. This Full Moon gets amplified by Jupiter conjuncting the Sun in Aquarius. Jupiter expands, so this Full Moon gets extra oomph, while also squaring volatile Mars conjunct Uranus in Taurus. Venus now meets Pluto, suggesting shifts in romance, relationships, arts, values and beauty. Relationships could end or deeply transform at this time. Focus on true intimacy and the regenerative power of love.

AstroButterfly gives a nice write-up describing the powerful T-square among the Sun/Jupiter in Aquarius, the Full Moon in Leo and Mars in Taurus. Given various dreams with a recurring T-square symbol or emphasis, I’m paying attention! You can click here to read the AstroButterfly write-up. It emphasizes the heart, a big Leo theme, and one I’m also paying attention to because this Full Moon at 9° Leo occurs very close to my own progressed Venus.

Speaking of Venus, the conjunction of Venus and Pluto at 25° Capricorn brings depth and intimacy to relationships, possibly bringing deeper commitment and beauty. Some things will become undeniable, as Venus, Goddess of Love, runs cleanup crew to all those earlier planets moving through Capricorn and conjuncting Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth. The Sun-Jupiter conjunction at the same time of the Full Moon T-square and this intense Venus-Pluto contact suggests some kind of blessing. Ask to recognize and receive the blessing(s), because with all those intense energies, you might be tempted to look the other way.

One of the biggest things I notice about this Full Moon is that the asteroid Hygiea conjuncts the Full Moon at 9° Leo. In mythology, Hygiea was one of the daughters of Asclepius, the father of medicine. Hygiea deals with hygiene, but also “preventative medicine.” As we continue in the miasma of ongoing astro energies — including Neptune squaring the collective nodal axis — we would be wise to ask ourselves, “What kind of preventative medicine can I employ in my life?” Neptune squaring the collective nodal axis brings confusion about where we’ve been and where we’re headed — as a collective. We can’t know the exact outcome or how we got where we find ourselves right now, but we can strengthen and support our health, on all levels.

Which healthy habits keep you balanced? What conversations might help with emotional balance in relationships? Is it time for a cleanse of some sort? Would you benefit from a salt water bath, or more fresh veggies and green juices?

The Sabian Symbol for Hygiea and this Full Moon is 10° Leo (always round up unless it’s exactly the degree and 00′). According to Dane Rudhyar:

PHASE 130 (LEO 10°): EARLY MORNING DEW SPARKLES AS SUNLIGHT FLOODS THE FIELD.

KEYNOTE: The exalted feeling that rises within the soul of the individual who has successfully passed through the long night which has tested his strength and his faith.

You can read more by clicking here. To me, this underscores that blessings are available if we lean into the energies of this Full Moon. Explore and honor our deepest feelings, trust our hearts, clear out the crud, and prepare for “Transfiguration.” That’s the final keyword of this degree. 11:11 a.m. as I type this!

Transfiguration refers to a powerful transformation event, and it has religious overtones. In Christianity, “Transfiguration” refers to Jesus on the mountain, when he becomes “radiant in glory” in front of his disciples. The Full Moon occurs right at this “Transfiguration point,” and it’s a Full Moon opposite the Sun (light) conjunct Jupiter (king/expands everything he touches) in a T-square to Mars (personal will), while Venus (love) conjuncts Pluto (the Shadow and the depths) — all while Hygiea offers preventative healing to “the soul of the individual who has successfully passed through the long night which has tested his strength and his faith.”

I can’t say exactly what this means for everyone (Neptune’s still squaring the collective nodal axis!) … but it feels powerful and holy. Something big is going on throughout all these long, slow, intense transits punctuated by potent conjunctions and the ebb and flow of the Moon. Take some time in the coming days to commit more deeply to your own healing and radiance.

January Flowers

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

This might seem like a silly post in light of serious issues, but sometimes silly gets the point across much better than doom and gloom.

It’s January here in the Northern hemisphere. There’s snow on the ground and a sharp chill to the wind. No flowers in sight outside. What’s a crazy plant lady who loves flowers to do?! Be the flowers you wish to see in the world:

Sometimes you just need to make it happen.

And sometimes the Universe shows up with an $11 like new cashmere sweater at a secondhand shop you just happened to wander into in the middle of a snowstorm:

Blessed be, and be the blessing!

If you’re having trouble finding the blessings, you might want to try Adriene’s “Yoga for Gratitude” practice. I love every workout I’ve done of hers and felt led to the gratitude one a few days ago (4:44 right now as I type this). I can’t embed it, but you can find the video here. Highly recommended!

Brene Brown on “Listening to Shame”

11:11 right now as I post. This came through after two dreams giving a very similar message. Thank you, Pamela and Brene’ Brown. I feel like many people can use this talk right now. Big love!

Luminous Heart Reiki & Massage

I felt an inner nudge to revisit this Ted Talk from 2012. Her research on shame and vulnerability is immensely powerful and has had a huge impact on me. Check it out and I’ll see you in the arena.

Mars Conjunct Uranus and Black Moon Lilith in Taurus ~ January 20-21

You don’t need to be an astrologer to recognize the powerful, intense, chaotic energies in play right now. AstroButterfly does a great job putting these energies into context, and you can read that post by clicking here. My January Forecast mentioned:

Expect high tensions and emotions, and use whatever tools you have to become the calm within the storm. Those with cool heads and focused attention can benefit from chaos. Prepare yourself to seize any rare opportunities. Also on January 20, Mars exactly conjuncts Uranus in Taurus. The sign of Taurus tempers some of the volatility of this meeting, but expect the unexpected. Some unusual solution or non-conformist willpower may upset the status quo. Preparation allows you to work these transits to your advantage.

Two factors amp up the normal volatility of Mars conjunct Uranus: an additional conjunction with Black Moon Lilith and a square by Jupiter in Aquarius. Lilith was Adam’s first wife, who refused to submit, including sexually. Uranus is the Cosmic Rebel, Mars the Warrior, and Jupiter expands everything he touches.

Uranus rules rebel Aquarius, where Jupiter blows revolutionary wind and friction towards all that action in Taurus. Venus, Goddess of Love, rules Taurus, that earthy sign of the body, the tangible, physical, financial and beautiful. Venus/Taurus also play a role in self-esteem. Desire for liberation at all costs will huff and puff from multiple directions. Finding ways to ground that energy into love and self-respect will ease your experience of these powerful energies.

Sometimes considered a “minor” aspect, Black Moon Lilith shows up in situations of abuse, especially sexual abuse, hysteria, trauma, reproductive issues, and autoimmune reactions. Uranus intensifies and goads on Lilith’s reactive energy and her refusal to submit to abusive situations. If you find these energies rising in or around you, remember that we can consciously choose to experience the archetypes and energies on different levels.

Towards the end of the post “Mars Conjunct Uranus ~ I See RED,” AstroButterfly notes that the Sabian Symbol for the Mars-Uranus Conjunction is “The Woman of Samaria.” Dane Rudhyar’s meditation on this symbol (copied below) blows me away in its synchronicity with current energies. Few women in the Bible so well personify both the negative and positive potential of Black Moon Lilith. Read from a mystical perspective, this passage reveals deep, transformative and healing opportunities on offer.

Be gentle with yourself, and keep your eyes, ears, and hearts peeled for whispers of kindness, grace and a new reality. You can read more Dane Rudhyar Sabian Symbols here. During these powerful — in some ways unprecedented times — I feel this energy is important to share in full context here. It’s difficult and unwise to ignore the intense archetypes vying for freedom and control, but we can ALWAYS choose to experience archetypes on different levels. A mystical eye finds blessings that the physical eyes may miss:

PHASE 37 (TAURUS 7°): THE WOMAN OF SAMARIA AT THE ANCESTRAL WELL.

KEYNOTE: The meeting of the traditional past and of the creative spirit pointing to the future.

The symbol refers to a most important, but usually narrowly interpreted (or interpreted away!) episode of the Christ mythos. Early in his ministry, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at an ancestral well. This woman belongs to a tribe despised by the Jews; moreover, she is unmarried and therefore on the fringe of even her own society. It is to just that kind of woman that Jesus reveals that he is the Messiah: “I am He,” a revelation that he apparently will not bestow even upon his disciples, at least not in words. (Words in occultism are the creative factor.)

What does this mean? Jesus, as the Avatar incorporating the Christ-Impulse, came to replace the old tribal order with a new order based on universal Love. It is not to representatives of, or even to men still attached to, the old order that Jesus could reveal his spiritual, evolutionary and society-transforming status; they had instead to reach a point where they could discover his avatar-ship – as did Peter just before the Transfiguration scene. But to the woman of Samaria – who, in her openness to love’s urgings, had already repudiated any narrow subservience to the old order – Jesus could reveal his function. The highest meets the lowest when this lowest is free from traditional bonds and open to love. The creative future descends first to that which has become chaos. An old order is never open to a new Revelation until it has accepted disorder in the name of that Power which subsumes all forms of order, i.e. Love.

In this second stage of the five-fold sequence, a contrasting element enters upon the scene. It is no longer a collective-cultural effort based on past knowledge — as in the preceding symbol — but a “meeting” that introduces into the collective situation a totally new factor which transcends it. A NEW QUALITY OF BEING is revealed which renders the old patterns obsolete.

Yantra, Cindy Lou and Metamorphosis Dream

I’m posting two dreams, because they seem like what I call Big Dreams — not just personal messages. I’ve spent the morning looking for and inquiring about the symbol that appeared, and no one knows what it is. David says he feels like he’s seen it somewhere before, but it’s not any of the more usual yantras.

1/16/2021
“Yantra, Cindy Lou, and Metamorphosis”

Awoke in the middle of the night with a sudden, shocking realization that something had just been done under cover of night. It seemed like a big, consequential thing for the US, but I don’t know what it was. It felt shocking, unbelievable — not good or bad, per se, but an event that triggers the rest of history.

No idea what time it was. I was on the BioMat but awoke quite suddenly with this shocked knowing. When I got up later it was almost 4 a.m., but it might have been 2:30 or so when I had the realization. I fell back asleep for awhile.

(Later)

I dreamt of a distinctive symbol, a kind of square (diamond) mandala:

It was vivid and dramatic, floating in the sky. It was a square diamond (point as the base and top) with three additional square diamonds inside it as the center (so a total of four concentric square diamonds as the center). Then four more of these exact same concentric diamonds intertwined in each of the corners.]

This symbol was brown and white, I think, very large, floating in the sky. It kept appearing as a large sign.

Then I was in a town home, and the next-door neighbors had a little girl who looked like Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. She kept crawling over to our town home and giving me little things, presumably from her mom, but after awhile I thought maybe not. Maybe just from herself. She was too young to talk except in little gurgles and Whoville sounds, but I could communicate with her telepathically.

She came over because she was an old soul in this little baby/toddler body and I was the only one she could have a real conversation with. Everyone else talked baby talk to her. Even though that’s all she could talk with her mouth, she could fully converse telepathically. Kind of reminded me of Iris, but it wasn’t Iris.

I was doing an email session for ___. It was a 25-minute session of an hour or 35 minutes. There was some ongoing mix-up of 25 or 35. I would need to do the balance but I couldn’t figure out what that was. At one point, ____ was in the townhome with me, on the upper floor, which had a balcony to see below. Cindy Lou Who child crawled in and I was telling _____ how adorable she was: “Just look and listen. Oh, my goodness, she’s so adorable, but also smart.”

Something about selecting off-white silk long underwear among three styles, which Cindy Lou Who brought over. I ended up going for the luxury one because the others just weren’t right. I tried to convince myself otherwise, but it needed to be the best one.

Then I was with someone and unsure of gender of me or the other person. We were getting ready to fly and there was an opportunity for consummation above this town home courtyard. I was unsure about this so the person suggested we fly over a park.

I checked my skin status. I was like a small sweet potato with a crispy skin from roasting, but when I peeled that away a bit I could see and feel a new, fresh, moist sweet potato skin beneath.

I agreed to fly over the park and said maybe we’ll even consummate there, because I feel ready now, just not here. The other person was also a sweet potato and agreed. Somehow, bigger wings would grow from this crispy old skin.

END of dream journal.

I edited out the name of the client for privacy, but in Japanese her name means “pure,” “flower,” “lotus, or water lily.” That seems significant.

Cindy Lou Who is the tiny child who catches the Grinch in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas:

In the original book and the animated adaptation, Cindy Lou Who gets out of bed to go get a drink of water when she finds the Grinch, disguised as Santa Claus, stuffing her family’s christmas tree up the chimney.

Mistaking him for Santa, she innocently asks him why he’s taking the tree. The Grinch, sensing innocence in the young girl, covers up his theft by fibbing to her, saying that there is a broken light on the tree and that he was taking it to his workshop to fix the problem and then return it on Christmas Day when she wakes up.

Then, the Grinch gets her drink and sends her back to bed, showing the only legitimate kindness that he has in his tiny heart.

Notably, though this is her only real scene in the original book, Cindy Lou gets a bit more screen time in the animated adaptation such as in the opening songs and at the end as the Grinch celebrates with the Whos. (You can find more Cindy Lou Who trivia at https://hero.fandom.com/wiki/Cindy_Lou_Who .

To me, the end of the dream felt like the alchemical idea of “coniunctio.”

Jung borrowed the term coniunctio from the medieval alchemists, because he believed they were picturing the same individuation process Jung was outlining in his work. Jung understood that the alchemists literalized and externalized the inner opus, which he took to be a spiritual and psychological reality.

The mystery of the coniunctio is that it is the joining of two into one, a holy marriage. According to Jung, “The coniunctio is an a priori image that occupies a prominent place in the history of man’s mental development. If we trace this idea back we find it has two sources in alchemy, one Christian, the other pagan. The Christian source is unmistakably the doctrine of Christ and the Church, sponsus and sponsa, where Christ takes the role of Sol and the Church that of Luna. The pagan source is on the one hand the hieros-gamos, on the other the marital union of the mystic with God. “The Psychology of the Transference,” (Jung, CW 16, pa. 355.)

We see then, that the coniunctio is not a physical union but rather a mental, internal state of being, a union of opposites, and in particular, the union of the conscious and unconscious. Jung described “a gradual transformation of the archetype into a psychological process which, in theory, we can call a combination of conscious and unconscious processes. (Carl Jung, CW 9i, para. 295, emphasis added)

Both Jung and the alchemists used images of the hermaphrodite to illustrate the coniunctio.

A passage from the Gospel of Thomas in the Nag Hammadi Library reads:

Jesus said to them, “When you make the two one, and when you make the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside, and the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female one and the same, so that the male not be male nor the female female.” Further discussion at https://www.kayegersch.com/the-coniunctio.

The other person and I weren’t human. We were like winged sweet potatoes! Our crispy skin peeling away became translucent wings. According to http://DreamAboutMeaning.com:

Dream about seeing sweet potatoes is a symbol for faith, hope and charity. You put forth a tough image, but are sensitive on the inside. You are feeling restricted in some area of your life. Your dream signals power, strength, virility and masculine attitudes. You are withdrawn.

Seeing sweet potatoes [in a] dream signals your desire for love and happiness over wealth and fortune. It is the core to some idea or piece of knowledge. You are hoarding something. This expresses warmth and your need for a better sense of security. There is a force that is drawing you toward a certain direction, thinking or habit. More here.

I can see personal implications of these dreams, but they do feel broader than just me. I would love someone to point me in the direction of the yantra. It was SO vivid in the dream! I know Jung considered the number four a sign of completion and a marker of the Self. This symbol emphasized several layers of four’s:

four-sided diamond/square

four concentric diamonds inside the diamond

four diamonds made of four concentric diamonds surrounding the center concentric diamond

It reminds me of the Four Elements and the “quintessence,” an idea I also explored in my 2009 novel, Schizandra and the Gates of Mu. I’ve not thought of that idea in recent times, though. The numbers four, five, 20 (4 x 5), 25 and 35 all seem emphasized in the dream, as well as two becoming one.

I have no idea what the shocking, monumental event was in the dark of night. It felt like a “move and countermove” scenario — like one movement now necessitated this next step. I just don’t know what the step was. The appearance of Cindy Lou Who in the later dream might indicate that something selfish, terrible and shocking was caught and shifted into a heart-softening for the greater good. I don’t know! I decided to share the dreams in case anyone knows what that symbol is, or if you have other ideas about the dream(s).

These arrived in context of ongoing dreams of four’s, alchemy, shedding skin and transformation. To me, the dreams feel positive, empowering and reassuring.

New Moon in Capricorn Conjunct Pluto

Tonight’s New Moon promises to pack a wallop. My January Forecast briefly mentioned some of these energies:

The January 13 New Moon in Capricorn falls within minutes of last year’s Saturn-Pluto Conjunction. In the Eastern time zone, this New Moon occurs at the stroke of midnight, a year and a day after the Conjunction that colored all of 2020. “A year and a day” represents a magical time of completion or full initiation. Happening at the hinge point of midnight on the 13th, so close to the degree of the powerful Saturn-Pluto Conjunction, this dark passage forms a birth canal. Honor how you’ve changed and grown since January 12, 2020. Some major process of destruction and renovation will complete and reset with this New Moon.

The next day, January 14 holds potential for wild changes and eruptions. That’s the day that rebel Uranus stations direct in stable Taurus. Stationing direct supercharges influence of an outer planet, and Uranus is the most volatile. Fiery Mars in Taurus fast approaches lightning bolt liberator Uranus, adding intensity and volatility. All this, while expansive Jupiter squares Uranus, karmic Saturn squares Mars, and the Sun shines a spotlight on Pluto’s Underworld. Where and how this intensity affects you depends on your full natal chart, but collectively, we can expect something big to shift mid-month.

I noted the uncanny timing of the New Moon in the Eastern US time zone, which includes Washington, DC. For some parts of the world, this New Moon will occur on the 12th and for other parts, later on the 13th. The stroke of midnight and “year and a day” energy required a mention. No matter where you live, this New Moon occurs within 1.5 degrees of Pluto in Capricorn. This combo emphasizes a total reset and rebirth of major structures and institutions. These can be personal and/or collective.

This year and a day completion term of the Saturn-Pluto Conjunction reminds me of a dream I had in October 2019. It involved “special mandala floors” that would “ensure everyone gets where they need to go in the event of an earthquake.” You can think of Pluto as the earthquake, with Saturn going ahead and forging these special mandala floors. As so many old structures crumble, many upgrades and renovation have already been put in place — both personally and collectively. There is much to be grateful for amidst the chaos and confusion — for those with eyes to see.

Pluto destroys whatever stands in the way of transformation or transmutation. Think of the phoenix rising from its own ashes, a death and rebirth cycle. Pluto also wants you to find a new balance of power, freeing you from oppression and victimization. Persephone gets whisked into Hades, raped and her innocence destroyed, but she emerges a Queen. She embraces the cycles of life and death. When she returns from the depths, she brings the Sun and warmth and tender buds.

Pluto rules the Underworld, Chthonic Realm, the Shadow, the heavy hand of destiny, primal Nature, and the deepest subconscious and soul needs. I love Pluto, but only because I embrace that realm enough to find and excavate its hidden gems. The Lord of the Underworld offers strength, grit and a powerful chance to “Know Thyself.”

AstroButterfly goes into much more New Moon Conjunct Pluto detail here.

With the amount of chaos, fear-mongering, revelations and suppression right now, it’s anyone’s guess what will come lumbering out of the Underworld. In addition to the Shadow, Pluto’s realm contains real gems. Crystals, deep subconscious impulses, regeneration, power, and sexuality. While we can’t fully avoid the archetypes, we can choose to experience them on different levels. Dane Rudhyar’s Sabian Symbol for this New Moon degree offers encouragement and a suggested focus:

PHASE 294 (CAPRICORN 24°): A WOMAN ENTERING A CONVENT.

KEYNOTE: Total commitment to a transcendent goal.

A convent is a place made available by a community which believes in the possibility of reaching a world-transcending state of consciousness. It is made available to individuals who may be variously motivated. To some it is an escape from the intolerable pressures of family and society; to others it represents the possibility of pursuing in peace a spiritual ideal to which the whole being aspires and is totally dedicated. The important point, in this phase of the cyclic process, is that the existence of a convent expresses another aspect of the relationship between the society (its religion and culture) and the individual. In the preceding symbol society rewarded the individual for a noble performance in its service; here society accepts the fact that beyond its daily normal patterns of behavior and commitments, another way of life exists which, in a higher sense, also has social value. In the old Hindu society dominated by a rigid caste system, the ideal embodied in the sannyasi — the wandering holy man or yogi meditating in a forest or a cave, who had entirely given up all that caste implied — was seen to be the very culmination of the social process.

In this fourth stage symbol we see the paradoxical nature of the social process operating more strongly than ever. This derives from the fact that man’s nature contains in seed the possibility of overcoming and transcending itself in acts of complete denials and of surrender to a “higher” Law or quality of being. All spiritual techniques are indeed paradoxical. Rigid discipline conditions pure inner freedom. The final goal is the attainment of TRANSCENDENT SECURITY.

Again, the “Transcendent Security” reminds me of my mandala floors dream where the circles in the floor tipped in just the right way to slide everyone where they need to be “in the event of an earthquake.” I mention that dream because I had it twice, back to back, just as Pluto stationed Direct in October 2019. I’ve watched this message play out over the past year plus. Challenging external times offer a chance to connect with true support, which is ultimately a spiritual process. Take some time to go deep.

Alternate Realities Dream

I had the following dream the morning of January 8. I’ve edited it slightly for posting, along with commentary I wrote after recording the dream. I’m sharing here because this morning’s dream also indicated the option of alternate realities. Much is vying for our attention right now. Choose wisely. Some options are fertile, magical and majestic.

Also, this dream write-up references a new portal door. I have the “door” and much of the design but haven’t started painting yet. Soon. 🙂

1/8/2021
“Tree in the Garage”

I was on the outside of a sidewalk that led to a porch, with a detached garage to the right (as I looked out from sitting on the porch). This was kind of a run down area, and there was a woman sitting on the sidewalk next to me, plus a couple other women who came and went throughout the dream. There was a small cage to the left, and inside the cage some run down plant pots with dead plants.

We were cleaning the area up and possibly were going to replant the garden, which was just these run down pots on the sidewalk. At some point, I noticed how grubby the sidewalks were, and the woman and one other woman started mopping them with bleach. This relieved me that they would get clean and I didn’t need to do it, but I worried about the bleach so close to a would be garden.

There was a tree that had grown inside the garage and then busted out the side window. It seemed dead, and I kept looking in the window, trying to figure this out. The garage had a dirt floor and a bunch of dead leaves in the middle of it where there used to be cement. The tree’s roots had busted up the cement. I was trying to figure out how a tree had grown inside the garage — for so long, too. Its trunk was about 3 1/2 feet wide at least.

It was hollowed out at the bottom, and at one point I said, “Wait! Is that?! Oh, never mind.”

I thought I saw an animal living in the hollowed out trunk, but it was two apples, upside down, with very thick wooden stems sticking out like legs. The wood was kind of like acorn tops, but if the acorns were the size of apples. I realized this was even stranger.

Then I looked more at the busted out window and tried to tell if the tree was really dead, or if it just didn’t have leaves yet. I never got that answer, and I wondered how and why someone let it grow in the garage for so long. How had it gotten there in the first place, and why did no one notice it until it was like a massive oak tree that somehow grew apples from its base?

There was another part about a very large purple-blue door that floated. I was very excited about something behind this door. It had wooden slats so maybe connected with my new Star Card Portal (Star Portal), but it was just a floating door. This had something to do with my old childhood home on Forrest Ave. I was talking with my mom in that house, going through a closet (I think) and saying I needed to trade in old clothes. I’m a little fuzzy on this part but I remember talking with my mom in the main living room with all its big windows. She was her age from when we lived in that house — which is now younger than me, but she was still my mom even though I was my age now.

I was really excited about whatever was behind the door. It would give me a lot of opportunities. … I told my mom specific, detailed concerns. …

All this time I was talking with my mom about limitations, I was aware of the floating purple-blue door, and that somehow this door, when it opened, would shift everything. That I was looking at the caged, dumpy pots when there was this impossibly large oak tree that had grown in the dark in a garage and busted through the window and kept growing. I realized the oak did have leaves, and it was alive.

END of dream journal.

I recognized a personal message for me in the dream, but it also feels like there’s a bigger collective meaning to this.

The oak tree growing in the dark and busting through the garage seems like the US Pluto Return, which we’re already in but it will get more and more exact over the next couple years. Pluto has the destructive force — the busted cement and window — and yet it’s a huge life force. The oak tree was much stronger and more natural than the manmade garage. Much more impressive than these little pots filled with dead plants, all caged on the dirty sidewalk. The oak tree didn’t look alive, but oak trees get their leaves later than most other trees.

I just realized that the oak tree in my dream was giving birth. That’s what it looked like — two legs coming out of the hollow bottom.

January 2021 Forecast and First Quarter North Node Horoscopes

It seems like a good time to repost the January forecast and North Node Horoscopes, with special emphasis on this paragraph:

“On January 5, Mercury the Messenger meets Pluto Lord of the Underworld, in Capricorn. Expect deep revelations — both personal and collective. Pay special attention to dreams, symbols and your intuition on the 4th -7th. These days can bring big insights into unconscious emotions, but try not to assume or convey the worst. Take time to process before blurting things out.”

Since people keep asking me my take on what’s going on, I will share again the extremely “wild card” energies of January 13 and 14. By definition, a “wild card” is unpredictable; however, the energies are over the top enough that if it were fiction, I’d call it “too much foreshadowing,” “too unbelievable.”

Whatever’s going on in the collective, chaos brings opportunities for individuals who pray, observe and intend well. Pay attention, pray for the highest good of all, and allow at least a possibility of something higher, better and extremely surprising working behind the scenes. Do your best to maintain your own vibration, and pay close attention to inner guidance. We’ve entered a chaotic time. When you expect the unexpected, you’re more prepared to optimize your experience.

Blessings and love to all…

JANUARY 2021 FORECAST

Happy New Year! Out with the old, in with the new.

I’ll continue offering monthly forecasts, but you’ll notice I’ve changed the North Node Horoscopes to quarterly. My own Capricorn North Node demanded I reclaim some of the time and effort it takes to write monthly horoscopes. Since the North Node in your natal chart acts like a personal North Star, quarterly horoscopes will also help you to focus more on integrating the guidance into daily life. I’ll include the quarterly North Node Horoscopes following each monthly forecast. I hope soul insights will deepen as you review the messages in light of prior month(s), while preparing for your next one.

This forecast covers some of the bigger events in January 2021. The intense energies we felt in late 2020 shift into higher gear with tension between staid Taurus and revolutionary Aquarius. Dramatic astro weather continues, but things…
