Mastering Modern Midlife with Catherine Grace O’Connell and Laura Bruno

Today, I’m excited to share my one and only video interview. I love Catherine’s write up from her newsletter, which you can read here. You can watch this conversation on Facebook, Podbean, iTunes, or YouTube, which I’ll also embed below. We cover medical intuition, healing, Lyme disease, some of my personal story, plus an extra focus on Midlife, the healing power of creativity, and the North Nodes.

Catherine refers several times to our having recorded this interview twice, alluding to me being “a very high vibe being.” The story behind that is the reason this remains my one and only video interview. I’ve done many phone interviews, and I used to have many videos on YouTube until my channel got censored in 2011. However, I don’t do sessions or interviews via video or computer, because I have a history of blowing out nearby electronics. Doing an intuitive tune-in ramps up my energy in a big, sometimes explosive way, so I lobbied hard for using a landline on my end. I delayed too long, and Catherine and her business partner Mike stopped doing audio-only interviews. By the time we scheduled, it was video or nothing.

I warned them about my tendency to blow things out, and I surrounded my laptop with stacks of orgone pucks. I theorized that I should be OK as long as Catherine didn’t ask me to do an intuitive scan or anything too energy related in the interview. If we were just talking, and I was careful with my energy, then it should work. We had a great conversation the first time, but at one point, she asked me an intuitive question. I tuned in and when I looked directly into the camera, I blew out the equipment on their end, erasing half the interview. This had never happened before or since, and they use backup cameras and recording. It was all wiped.

Soooo, we re-recorded, and we ended up enjoying this conversation even more. You might notice me trying hard not to look too directly into the camera. If you know me in person, you’ll also notice my concerted effort in this interview not to talk with my hands. I know from Reiki classes that whoever’s in line of my right hand — the one that almost got struck by lightning — gets blasted with energy the entire class. I didn’t want to send that energy into the camera or laptop screen.

I tried so hard to keep my energy in check so we could have a successful recording this time, and it worked!

I’m sharing the behind the scenes details here, because some people ask for video sessions and may wonder if I can do a video interview, then why can’t I do a video session? Trust me, you get much better intuitive work from me when I’m not spending the bulk of my energy trying not to blow out your or my equipment! It really took a massive amount of concentration not to let too much energy spontaneously leap out.

That said, this was a super fun interview. I love how it showcases Catherine’s and my friendship, as well as the deep topics of healing and transformation we discuss. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Do check out her write up here. Also, just a reminder that my monthly North Node Horoscopes are available exclusively on Catherine’s site. We post those around the 22nd of each month, depending on when the Sun changes signs. Enjoy!

Door Number 18: Peace of the Blue Irises

For some reason, these older portal doors — and especially their creation processes — keep calling out to be shared again. I feel it’s because so many people feel in between worlds right now. The new whispers and hints, but it doesn’t seem “real” yet. Meanwhile, the old doesn’t quite fit either. Trust the process, and the timing. All is well. All is in order even if you can’t see how or why just yet. You will.

Laura Bruno's Blog

My latest portal door is a commissioned piece, which I almost turned down due to all the other projects on docket for completion this winter. But dreams, visions and a Wisdom of Avalon Oracle card indicated in no uncertain terms that this 8 x 10″ small, yet mighty portal did intend to come through in the not-too-distant future. As much as my rational mind said, “Laura, you’ve already got an overfull plate. The last thing you need is another project this winter,” a greater sense of gentle timing and rightness whispered, “Yes, do this, and do it well.” The portal commissioner and I made arrangements back in December 2015; however, I let her know I’d need to wait until at least mid-January to begin painting, since we had so many holiday travels and guests, and I wanted to finish my Permaculture Design Course first.

We agreed that the “door” would…

True Colors: February North Node Horoscopes Are Up!

In our second month collaborating, Catherine Grace O’Connell posted my February 18 – March 19, 2020 North Node Horoscopes with a new article on her blog. You can find her article here at “True Colors: Your Fierce Feb North Node Readings.” She shares more of her own personal journey with our North Node work together. If you want to go straight to the ‘scopes, you can find them here. I had so much fun writing these! I incorporated your North Node sign’s color for an accessible connection to what often feels foreign at first — even though it’s your soul’s biggest dream in this lifetime.

If you don’t know your North Node sign, Catherine’s got a table on her site to tell you. Those of you who happen to know both your North Node sign and its house will also find value looking up the corresponding sign for that house:

1st House North Node = Aries North Node similarities

2nd House North Node = Taurus North Node similarities

3rd House North Node = Gemini North Node similarities

4th House North Node = Cancer North Node similarities

5th House North Node = Leo North Node similarities

6th House North Node = Virgo North Node similarities

7th House North Node = Libra North Node similarities

8th House North Node = Scorpio North Node similarities

9th House North Node = Sagittarius North Node similarities

10th House North Node = Capricorn North Node similarities

11th House North Node = Aquarius North Node similarities

12th House North Node = Pisces North Node similarities

For example, if you have a Leo North Node in the 12th house, your primary North Node Horoscope would be Leo, but you’ll also find guidance in the Pisces North Node information. The beauty of North Node horoscopes is that you can usually calculate the sign without an exact birth time, and the sign is always super relevant to your life path. As with anything in astrology, though, the more exact time you have, the more subtle information you can glean. (Just a little tip to pull more from these monthly North Node Horoscopes.)

We’re still aiming to release these on or around the 22nd. Since the Sun moved into Pisces on the 18th, I finished them earlier this month. I wanted to wait for Catherine’s article before posting the February North Node Horoscopes link, because I knew she had some gems to share this time. 🙂

February 2020 Specials

Only 10 days left in February, even with Leap Year’s extra day! Just a heads up: this is the last month for awhile of the Three for Two Special. I felt led to run it two months in a row, but March will feature something different.

Happy Imbolc, Happy Groundhog Day and Happy February!

I received several signs to extend the January “Three for Two” Special into February. So many people keep contacting me right at the point of breakthrough, which can seem an awful lot like “breakdown” until the new, empowered perspective clicks in. I’ve heard from many people in a state of fear, confusion or despair, who sense just a hint of higher order and encouragement.

Since healing and growth move in spirals rather than a straight line, many times you’re processing “the same things” at a different level. That doesn’t mean you’re going in circles! Think cycles — moving through the journey at the right place at the right time, doing the right thing, even if it you can’t locate where you are on the multidimensional map. That’s when it helps to have a guide. It’s a Leap Year … here’s to making…

Ann Kreilkamp ~ A Saturn/Pluto gift: Meet Ann’s Chai Elixer!

Ann Kreilkamp offers her personal recipe for a healing chai elixer. I’ve not tried this yet myself, but the ingredients sound potent and delicious. I know Ann’s been enjoying her morning ritual for months. I’m a huge fan of Reishi, taking it most days in some form or other. I also find that ritual — in whatever form — adds structure and meaning to everyday life. Finding a practice, whether making chai, meditation, or another mindful activity offers a chance for daily reset and connection throughout Time.

A Saturn/Pluto gift: Meet ANN’S CHAI ELIXIR!

One way to view this Saturn/Pluto conjunction year is to see it as a time when we are creating new structures (Saturn) for the life force (Pluto) to flow through. And some of these structures are invisible, prompted by decisions to utilize our experience of “time” in new, repeated ,ways. For example, various ceremonies and rituals can invoke, focus, channel and express the ever present primal Plutonian life force with tremendous power.

Rituals that are performed on a daily basis, unless we see them as “sacred,” we tend to call them routines. And “routines,” as my teacher often reminded me, “build character.” In other words, what we are doing now, is what we are becoming over time. Thus does a particular type of “doing” generate a particular quality of “being.”

Which brings me to today’s topic: “Ann’s Chai Elixir”

About a year ago I discovered that I was allergic to, not caffeine, but to the coffee bean itself. Okay. So I switched to various types of caffeinated teas.

Meanwhile, at our local farmer’s market, I discovered Aahaa Chai, a local company that makes organic chai teas from scratch. Hmmm . . . what would that be like? Most commercial chai is just so darn sweet that I avoid it.

Oh wow! I loved their “robust” chai tea. And so got in the habit of going to the market every two or three weeks to purchase a bag of it.

But then I got tired of having to go to the market to get the tea. On a whim, around my 77th birthday in December I made the unusual decision to look into making my own chai tea, searching the internet for various ingredients that could be used in chai.

Well, within the very first week, I was hooked, totally in love with my surprise birthday present to myself. For about $20 (the cost of buying it from the local company) I could buy my own ingredients from bulk bins at Bloomingfoods, our local co-op. At this point, I have settled on fourteen. Fourteen different ingredients, plus black tea, put in my tea pot to boil for a few minutes, every single morning! Thus did I reconfigure my first, and most important ritual of the day, and just in time for the 2020 Saturn/Pluto process!

My new morning ritual, about five minutes long, during which I bring the special basket over to the kitchen counter, open each little bag, and pinch a bit of its dried ingredient — plus cut up tiny slices of fresh ginger and turmeric. Each day’s chai alchemy yields four or five large steaming mugs worth (I also add a tiny amount of organic half and half, each time I refill the mug). As the day goes on, I  just keep adding water when needed, as the herbs keep on yielding more and more flavor.

When I run out of one ingredient, I take that bag back to the co-op, to refill with more of the same. That way I don’t use more bags than necessary.

The bags run out at different rates, in part because I’m not at all precise in the amounts purchased, and even more because the daily pinches from each one are never exactly the same. Yes, this chai, utterly full of complex aroma and tastes that go on and on, is slightly different each day! Thus does my daily “routine” include daily surprise.

But, and here’s what REALLY surprised me. I hadn’t thought about my morning chai as my morning medicine. Didn’t think of it as an “elixir.”  But my body likes it even better than my mind does, and now I know why.

Here’s my list of ingredients at this point, in no particular order, with a bit about the medicinal value of each that I grabbed from various internet sources. I can’t vouch for any of these sources; I just want to “give you the flavor” of why this amazing chai tea is so fantastic. It means that every single morning, both mind and body get to swoon at the very first taste of my very first mug of this stunning chai elixir. Continue reading

Door Number 12: The World Card

These portal doors from Canada (Door Numbers 11 and 12) are “up” right now for some reason. Actually, I had an amazing dream about the World Card in January.

In my dream, the World Card was on an actual card —maybe 18-24” tall — with an intricately jeweled owl on the front and the vibrant oval wreath inside. Together, this greeting card made a literal portal, available for use in the dream. I still marvel at those sparkly and colorful jewels making up the owl. It’s one of my favorite dreams, and this remains one of my favorite painted portal doors. Enjoy!

Door Number 12 is another commissioned piece, located in the same hallway as Door Number 11. I hadn’t planned to paint a second door there, but the patron felt so happy with Door Number 11 and the bathroom door kept “talking” to me, so we agreed it needed “to express itself.” I know it sounds weird, but all three of us discussed the vision for this door — in ordinary conversations and then in dreams. I had not planned to paint a tarot card on this one, but The World Card hijacked my dreams, reminding me of how Freya and Frigga jumped in ahead of The Lovers for Door Number 6.

The homeowner wanted the Runes for Joy and Flow in this door, and I had intended to create something entirely different, but the World Card or “Starry Dancer” appeared every time I closed my eyes. When I…

Timothy Glenn ~ The Heart Breath

Some good reminders of simple, yet powerful techniques and awareness from Timothy Glenn and Proterrian.

Laura Bruno's Blog

Here’s a fun, non-astrological post from my friend, Timothy Glenn. In today’s article, he covers dimensions zero through infinity, with focus on some of the “lower” dimensions, including 3Dality. He also shares a wonderful technique for reintegrating fearful parts of ourselves back into Universal Love. It’s a different type of post for Tim, but I think readers will enjoy his good humor and heartfelt wisdom.

The Heart Breath
By Timothy Glenn

A Technique From the Proterrian Channelings

The multidimensional/extraterrestrial collective known as Proterrian tends to express comical perspectives on our world. Since we make little if any sense to these Beings, their humor stands forth as their hallmark. In the midst of the fun, however, gems of information are shared.

Several years ago, The Heart Breath technique came out while Proterrian was playing a game called “If I were an earthling”, sung to the tune of “If I Were a…

Time Dreams and a Podcast

I wanted to bring attention to Ann Kreilkamp’s ARKCroneCast Updates, her new podcast available to Patreon subscribers. The subscription levels are only $5, $10 or $20 per month, well worth it, imho. Ann brings over 40 years as an astrologer, plus 77 years of extraordinary living. I especially enjoyed her latest, Number 11, called “Trust.” She discusses this theme in context of Saturn and Pluto types of trust, and I found it perfectly synchronized with this morning’s dreams.

I left those dreams as a comment on her site, but I’ll share them here, too. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone feeling a huge disparity between right and left brain messages. I know many people keep receiving vivid dreams and visions that seem so real, yet so unrelated to current life circumstances. Ann’s podcast shares different levels of trust, and why this theme seems so “up” right now for so many. (Hint: Saturn and Pluto, though not exactly conjunct, remain super close in Capricorn.)

Anyway, here’s my comment, and here’s the link to CroneCast 11:

Great podcast!

Synchronously, before listening to this, two dreams this morning featured “Time” as a topic, including a wall of dozens of circular clocks, all synchronized, all being kept warm by a “hot plate wall” behind them. The message was one I keep getting, “high vibe and filled with life force energy,” a theme that keeps showing up in dreams about death, mud or dusty wreaths filled with seeds. This particular dream implied that we could “eat Time” and that this time banquet was being prepared and kept warm by amazing cosmic time chefs who knew exactly when and how to serve the right moments as a feast.

In the prior dream, I was in a clothing store, second story, somewhere in Idaho. The female clerk told me that in order to find what I wanted, I needed to cross the street. I went downstairs and began to cross the street, which turned into an intimidatingly wide street.

I crossed at a crosswalk, but the light went through several cycles as I made my way across the street. I was wearing high heeled, intricately carved wooden shoes, which I realized I could not continue to walk in. I took them off, and my bare feet couldn’t continue walking on this road, either. I was already in the middle of the road with cars on both sides. I dropped to my knees, kneeling, and “walking” on my knees across the street.

I worried that no one could see me so low to the ground, that I would get run over. Then I realized that none of the drivers of the cars seemed to notice the lights had changed. Time had either slowed down or stopped for them while I made my way — safely — across the street. When I arrived at the other store, traffic resumed. The store had exactly what I wanted, even though I didn’t know I was looking for it. I left wearing the new clothes.

I love your mantra at the end: “Let the tide carry me, whether it goes in or out.” I think I’ll adopt that one, too. So many Plutonian dreams this past few months! My goodness, it’s Pluto central … with Saturn thrown in trying to stop the tide. 🙂 Thank you.

Door Number 11 (The Star Card)

This one wants to go up again. Lots of Star Card synchronicities lately!

Laura Bruno's Blog

Door Number 11 was another commissioned piece at a secret location. As far as portals go, this one involved more prep time than usual. The patron wanted energy of the surrounding pristine forests embedded into the door itself, which required this Chicago artist to spend a week hiking and relaxing in some of the most gorgeous country I’ve ever seen. Yes, it was heavenly and a welcome change of scenery. 🙂

Before I paint a commissioned portal, I always spend some time gethering a sense of what the patron needs and wants in life right now and in the future. Many times, but not always, those hopes and intentions suggest a tarot card to me, and I research different artistic interpretations already “out there.” Then I spend time in the actual home, noting style, colors, and overall “feel.” I also like to get people talking about whatever feeds their souls…
