While most of the bulbs I planted last fall did not come up, or only had leaves to show for my effort (side-eye to the squirrels…), a few yellow daffodils bloomed next to orange tulips that I definitely did not plant, but these, combined with pale purple/pink blooms of wild geranium (Geranium maculata) that has been around awhile, proved to be a lovely combo that I will try to replicate. The geranium leaves stay green all summer and will hide the withered bulb leaves, then turn red at first frost.
Must be that faery gardener I hear about from time to time, mixing and matching. 🙂 Or maybe the SDN (squirrel distribution network).
Laura your garden looks lovely, so full of colour, I was out all morning trying to straighten out our home garden, I lifted a load of spent tulips and my back took a toll, so went to bed for a couple of hours to rest..
My energy is not as it once was.. Yet my mind still thinks I can keep going.. LOL.. So now I sit and try once again to catch up with friends..
Something I know I will never completely do, 🙂 but here I am at last..
Its been ages since I did a gardening blog post, but some photos are in the camera awaiting being uploaded, and who knows I may get around to updating Dreamwalkers Garden this weekend.. 🙂
I hope you are both well.. 🙂
Enjoy your mid week…
Love and Hugs ❤
Thank you, Sue. Your garden posts are always lovely! I hope your back feels better soon. I understand about overdoing it. That’s partly why we opted for me to have a much smaller garden here than in Goshen. I keep sneaking things into it, but mostly, it’s flowers with some greens and herbs.
With all the groundhogs — and they just keep replacing each other even after being relocated — it’s just not worth the effort to try growing squash … and our growing season’s so short here that tomatoes don’t produce much either. 80% of the garden is deer and groundhog proof. I just hope the chard, kale, collards and peppers make it. 🙂 This year I decided to go lower stress by planting more groundhog repellent herbs and perennials.
Lets hope your Groundhog repellent plants work, We are still harvesting last years Chard.. We’ve not planted as many squash this year.. Good luck with your garden, and hopefully I get to upload the photos of the allotment this weekend.. ❤ Big Hugs right back ❤
