Magick Wands and Chris Hedges ~ A Time for ‘Sublime Madness’

This wants to go up again. I now have four. 🙂

Laura Bruno's Blog

Thanks to Gillian for drawing my attention to this particular Chris Hedges article. Though dire, it’s also quite an unusual post for him in that he recognizes the power of the human imagination. I have been getting the same message lately about the state of our world: things have gone so far beyond what normal “doing” can remedy that it’s time for magic, magick, mgieck … whatever you call it, it’s time to tap in, dig deep, and empower those wands, spells, prayers, and beliefs in miracles.

With all the debate about Second Amendment rights, I’ve done some major soul searching. I don’t own a gun, and I don’t desire to own a gun. I’ve imagined what it would feel like to shoot someone, even in self defense, and to me personally, that just doesn’t feel in alignment with the rest of how I live my life. But neither does…

Hi Laura, I’ve been looking at wands and other forms of protection in general myself. Magic abounds! Did you pick your wands based on the gemstone or just instinct?

    • Hi Deanna, generally, the wands found me. The first one, mentioned in the original article kind of leapt out at me from the website where I was looking for other things. The next one David made me from a fallen branch of our pear tree in Goshen. Actually, per my request, he wire wrapped a pair of pear tree wands with Lemurian quartz tips –one for me and one as a gift for Tania when we all gathered on Fall Equinox 2016.

This past Fall, I fell in love with a simple willow wand at a store in Kalamazoo. That was my Winter Solstice gift from David, and then for my birthday, Tania sent me an ancient bog oak wand made to order from a Druid she knows. We also have a six foot long weeping cherry limb that was growing straight up last year, which David plans to turn into a walking staff for me, but that’s a project for another time. 🙂

Enjoy the winding wand journey. It’s fun to feel how different the energies are, straight or twisted, the different woods, different crystal properties. All four of my wands have very distinctive energies. Two contain crystals and two do not. Hope that helps!

  4. Thanks for spiraling this back into present-mind. It does seem timely (and ‘sublime madness’ seems one of those ‘always timely’ approaches these days!). I appreciate Chris Hedges’ perspective, and definitely sync with your time for magic, magick, majiqa (etc) in all of its benevolent invocations and expressions. Thanks for refeaturing this one. Big Love, J
