Finding Ways to Tell the Tale

Today I saw you:
wrinkled eyes photoshopped to blue.

How dare you forbid my
voice? Stories grow

like mycelium.
One day they will nourish trees.

  1. In the wake of the #MeToo Movement, and for years before, I’ve heard stories that either cannot be told or that would dismantle innocent lives with their telling. And yet, these stories fester beneath the surface, resulting in autoimmune reactions, cancer and other health crises, as the secrets devour their carriers. This poem came forth today from my own determination to find ways to tell my own tales — through healing means and for healing purposes. I find creative expression is key for people looking to move beyond old limitations, grief, confusion or pain. There are many ways to tell the tales — through art, dance, fiction, poetry — the method doesn’t matter. The expression does.

Blessings and healing to anyone carrying a tale that has not yet been told. May you find your own balanced ways and means.

    • Thanks, Diana. 🙂 It’s an amalgamation of many people. I’ve been reading “Healing Pluto Problems” as additional research for my Lyme book, and I’ve been struck by how the secrecy itself creates so many problems. The poem was longer, but I whittled it down to increase the intensity and (hopefully) convey the shift from being suppressed to going Plutonian underground to then being able to grow and nourish something as strong as an interconnected forest.

Anyway, that was the intention. I have as a goal this year to write more poetry, and this one came out with very little effort. But yes, I have had people forbid my voice. In order to write the volume of material I sense wanting to come forth, I obviously needed to reclaim that voice — and push back against the dynamic of the person wronged needing to hold onto a secret (usually tucked away in the body) because it might damage the one who did the deed. I hope the poem speaks to that kind of transmutation and liberation.

Love to you, too … xx

“Healing Pluto Problems” is not exactly light reading. I see, and have seen for a long while, the results of secrecy in my line of work. I think it has reinforced my preference for personal authenticity in all things.

    • No, definitely not light reading! But Lyme is not light writing, either. I’ve often likened Chronic Lyme to an Underworld Initiation, and many of the Pluto problems rear their heads. Personal authenticity often seems like the difficult path, but in reality, it’s much easier than the alternatives, especially if you’re on an Integration Lifetime!

    • Just looked up that Pluto is currently squaring both my Uranus and Chiron. Pluto’s transiting my fifth house, so no wonder I am having this deep creative rebirth. Astrology always amazes me.

Agreed! And I found a great quote that springs to mind, attributed to one Jim Rohn, found on someone’s blog: “Everyone must choose one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.” Discipline pays off in the long run, but gads it’s often lonely and restrictive until you arrive!

  6. Greetings, Laura. An important reminder, both poem and your comment just below about how keeping some secrets, having the voice suppressed (or suppressing it out of fear of backlash, etc) festers in the body.

Those Pluto transits (and a few others, like the Chiron Return) can often dig deep and stir up many of those buried stories that need to at least find recognition by us, even if we acknowledge it ourselves.

Your reminder to find some creative expression to allow these trapped energies and self-facets to flow up and out is priceless and always timely.

Many thanks, and as ever, be well! xoxo Jamie

    • Thank you, Jamie. Also, another duh moment from today’s post … maybe you have some of the info I’ve been trying to articulate in my non-fluent astro lingo. I will be in touch. Guess I needed to go through the process of committing to get fluent in the language of astrology before I thought of the obvious person who write about Pluto and Chiron a lot. Well, duh! Anyway, I will be in touch. Thank you, as always. xoxo, Laura
