On Thanksgiving, David and I took a hike at one of our favorite spots in Kalamazoo — Asylum Lake Preserve. We always find portals and magical spots, and Thursday was no exception. Here are some that David managed to catch on his iPhone.
We call this one “The Ganesha Tree,” and he opens the way to one of the trails. Can you see the elephant eye, ears, leg, and trunk? I think it looks even more like Ganesha from the other side, but the lighting worked better this way.

We also saw some amazing faery portals:
I’m not sure what’s up with that tree, but in person it looks like it holds an entire universe in its trunk. I felt it before I saw it, and we needed to go off trail to take this photo. The setting sun brought flickering shadows that added to the effect.

Yes, James. In person, it looked like a rotating, pulsing Tree of Life in that ball of the trunk. Amazing feeling and visual. We are so happy to live here. Being Nature deprived for so long really makes you appreciate it even more when you can get there in just a few minutes. 🙂

Not that we didn’t have Nature in Goshen. We did, in our yard, and there were trails, but not like here. Faeries know they are welcome here. It makes a huge difference!

I know exactly what you mean. I too feel lucky to be surrounded by nature now. I even have a young buck that frequents my yard so much I have named him Ragnar. I planted a young pear tree and he has claimed my yard by rubbing is new horns on that tree. It broke a branch or two, but the tree will be fine. I saw it as a welcome home sign. 😊

Unsurprisingly, several small faces seem to be peering out from the shadowed side of that big, jagged tree stump. 🙂
