I would like to wish you all a Happy Holiday Season.
A couple of weeks ago we saw a wonderful production of A Christmas Carol. The sets and the acting were beautiful and the moral and the insight of the story was very powerful. I hadn’t seen it since I was a kid and it brought tears to my eyes. I recommend that if you have the chance to see this, you do.
It is as you know a very uplifting story about one cynical old Mr. Scrooge who learns the joy of cheer and giving and a lesson of the Spirit that animates and transcends this material reality.
It rekindled in me the desire to put out one more call, one more heartfelt request, on behalf of Sheila Geeting. As you may know her son was a truck driver who was killed in a tragic accident. The insurance company is denying her claim adding financial devastation to an already devastating situation.
I cannot begin to fathom how incredibly hard it must be for her.
When this first occurred in July I set up a GoFundMe to help her raise a couple months rent. please see the details of the case here: https://www.gofundme.com/JoeGeeting $600 a month is a parking fee to some of the folks I know but to her it is a monthly struggle. We managed to raise about a month and a half (some through private donations). Sheila was very grateful.
Then life became very busy and my personal energy toward this drive was redirected. But now in the Spirit of the Season, or as I like to say, the Season of the Spirit, the time is right to make one more effort, one more request of you.
If it is in your heart to give this Season, PLEASE consider this cause. It honestly is as genuine as it gets. And Sheila is a very nice lady who has not always enjoyed the good fortune that some of us are blessed with. But she still does her best to do the right thing, She’s a good soul and a few mites in her direction will bless you as much as it blesses her. That is the nature of giving. Or so sayeth Mr. Scrooge after being raised by the 3rd Spirit.
I know some of you were waiting for a better time to open your purses. Can there be a better time or a better cause. Whether you’ve given to this Aim or are waiting for a moment such as this, I ask you, and I promise this will be the last time, do what you can. I won’t forget it.
Thank you and May your Holidays, whatever you celebrate, be filled with joy, love and light and may 2016 bring you a bounty of health, happiness and prosperity. God bless us, everyone.
