If you’ve not read John Lamb Lash’s “Not in His Image,” I definitely recommend it, along with Monica Sjoo and Barbara Mor’s “Great Cosmic Mother.” It has taken centuries to divorce people so far from the land and from the Mother Goddess energies that these things are now demonized as the male “diety” thought form invented by Christians and known as “Satan.” It’s the psyop of all psyops how the Luce Sophia (the organic light of Wisdom) was completely bastardized and turned into a patriarchal Luciferianism focused on destruction, decay and transhumanism. Interesting variety of comments. Halloween here was kids in costumes and parents, mostly scary costumes, walking around to “get something”. I missed very, very much Yellow Springs’ bonfires in the neighborhoods, where we would gather and share food, sit and talk into the dark, not far from the Glen, much more connected to community and the land (and called a friend there, who promised to visit a bonfire for me!) It depends on how you’re doing it, but originally, pagan just meant from the fields, as heathen meant from the heath. Our celebration was with self-identified pagans or pagan friendly people interested in gathering for a time of honoring the change of seasons, which includes death. Our group is full of gardeners, who recognize the cycle of life intimately in our dealings with the land — as did our Ancestors. We have a resident poet who writes a poem or prayer for each turn of the Wheel, and we always have a huge vegan feast after we gather. Last night, I had each person bring a memento of a loved one and/or Ancestors to place on an altar, and we each spent a few moments telling a story about them, speaking their name and remembering them. We had a “dumb supper” with a place setting in honor of the dead, the contents of which I composted this afternoon. Death and life are completely intertwined. The reason our culture is so ridiculously imbalanced is because people do not know how to look death in the face anymore, and so it grows and grows and grows into a full on culture of death and destruction, because the culture knows not how to deal with its Shadows.
RE: witchcraft — it’s stepping into your own sovereign ability to shift energies and align with Nature. If even a tiny fraction more of society reclaimed this right, childhood sexual abuse, rape and the war economy would grind to a screeching halt, because people would fear the instant karma that accompanies such things when people are standing in their own power. Witches get a bad name, because a small group of “elites” perverted the Goddess culture, turned it into a sick patriarchal control secret boys’ club that celebrates and fixates on abuse and destruction, rather than on life. Original pagan teachings revere death more like compost — that which goes back into the Earth to regenerate the land.
I don’t actually celebrate Halloween. I celebrate Samhain and proudly so. I just wished everyone a Happy Halloween because not everyone knows what Samhain is. 🙂

And the “:Fellowship” is A-OK with you only if you agree with them. If you disagree and share another viewpoint, you get hunted down– literally, the woman who runs it will track you by your ISP or domain, and publish your personal information for the world to see. I get a creepy feeling to the extreme from her sycophants.
On another note, my mom reminded me that one year I dressed up as a wizard, long before Harry Potter. Apparently I borrowed her burgundy bathrobe (which was much too long) and she made a conical hat from cardboard and put glitter and stars on it. I have no memory of this… 🙂 But I guess somehow I knew, even early on.
