Yes, pickle time! The black contraption is actually a dark brown, and it’s a German fermenting crock from Lehman’s, one of two heavy beasties I got last year. It makes fermenting large batches so much easier than the Perfect Pickler attachments to Mason jars. I do love the Perfect Pickler, but I had way too many cukes for that! These supposedly allow you to make very long fermented sauerkraut, too, although my experiment with 4+ weeks of fermenting time was quite mushy and alcoholic, so to compost pile it went. 🙂

Made some wonderful gazpacho yesterday with tomatoes, green peppers and onions from the farmers’ market and cucumbers from our garden. Yumm!!
