Natural News ~ Glyphosate contamination will cause 50% of children to be autistic by 2025, according to researcher

It’s not just about the GMOs themselves, but what goes along with them, namely toxic chemicals and gut-destroying pathogens. In addition to this article below, you might enjoy Ronnie Cummins’ recent essay, “Consumer Self-Defense: 12 Ways to Drive GMOs and Roundup off the Market.” Ronnie shares some information I didn’t know, which puts other battles into perspective, too. For example, remember that Tryptophan incident used to justify all manner of attacks on supplements? Who knew that the Tryptophan supplement in question was a GMO? Ultimately, we need a ban, and soon. At issue is helping the general public to recognize why. Any and all methods to do so seem valid, imho, since most people still have no clue of the differences and crossovers between organic, conventional, GMO-free and completely toxic. Anyway, I recommend both articles, but I’m copying in the autism one below, because it’s a simpler argument with a specific timeline. Please do click through to Ronnie’s essay, too.

Natural News ~ Glyphosate contamination will cause 50% of children to be autistic by 2025, according to researcher

By Julie Wilson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) Today, 1 in 68 children have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the U.S., a rate that’s increased 30 percent since 2012, according to a March 2014 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Boys are five times more likely than girls to have ASD, and white children are more prone to the condition than black or Hispanic children.

Speaking at a conference sponsored by the holistic-focused Groton Wellness organization, research scientist Dr. Stephanie Seneff of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology presented data showing a consistent correlation between glyphosate (a key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide), and the rise in autism.

Dr. Seneff also made an alarming prediction regarding the recent spike in ASD: “At today’s rate, by 2025, one in two children will be autistic.”

According to a fellow panelist, “All of the 70 or so people in attendance were squirming, likely because they now had serious misgivings about serving their kids, or themselves, anything with corn or soy, which are nearly all genetically modified and thus tainted with Roundup and its glyphosate.”

Kids with autism have biomarkers indicative of glyphosate toxicity

It’s unsurprising that Dr. Seneff struck a cord with other professionals at the special panel on genetically modified organisms (GMOs), as she’s most certainly an expert on the matter. She’s published over 170 scholarly peer-reviewed articles and is an expert in biology and technology. She’s also listed as the first author on 7 out of 10 papers published in various medical and health journals on modern diseases as well as drug side effects, nutritional deficiencies and the impacts of environmental toxins on our health, according to reports.

During the special panel discussion, Dr. Seneff spoke about the alignment between the side effects of glyphosate toxicity and autism, noting that they closely “mimic” one another. The illustrations she presented show that, since Monsanto’s Roundup became a flagship weedkiller in 1990, the number of kids with ASD has soared from 1 in 5,000 to 1 in 68.

Seneff’s research shows that children with autism have biomarkers indicative of excessive glyphosate, including zinc and iron deficiencies, low serum sulfate, seizures and mitochondrial disorder, according to the Alliance for Natural Health.

Monsanto denies all evidence pointing to such a connection, arguing that Roundup is harmless because humans don’t have a shikimate pathway, which the chemical inhibits. However, Seneff notes that our gut bacteria do in fact have this pathway, and these bacteria are crucial for supplying the body with amino acids.

Seneff also argues that most studies on the dangers of Roundup are too short to truly identify the effects of Roundup accumulation in the body over time.

According to Seneff, there are two key problems with autism that are completely unrelated to the brain but are connected to glyphosate exposure:

1. Gut dysbiosis (an upset in the natural balance of microorganisms in the gut)

2. Disrupted sulfur metabolism (sulfur and sulfate deficiency)

While certain microbes break down glyphosate, they leave behind ammonia, and, interestingly, children with ASD tend to have higher ammonia levels, explains Seneff in an interview with Jeffrey Smith of the Institute for Responsible Technology.

Seneff says Roundup has the following side effects: It kills beneficial gut bacteria, allowing pathogens to grow; interferes with the synthesis of amino acids and methionine, which leads to shortages in critical neurotransmitters and folate; chelates (removes) important minerals like iron, cobalt and manganese, and much more.

  2. The world will have to adapt one way or another. Society will certainly have to change to find ways for the population to be productive if there are that many autistic. I’m guessing these will be extreme cases and not mild autism (like me). I have trouble being productive, but I have mental illness too.

I’m just mildly autistic and not diagnosed, but my therapist thinks I am. When I was filling out the paperwork to discover if I was, it was like my thoughts were being explained to me. I never got the results, but it convinced me.

I’d have to pay to be officially diagnosed, and there is no point, it’d just be a label to me. I’m already on disability, and have therapy for Schizoaffective.

My Schizoaffective might to be connected to my thyroid. If I ever get my thyroid stable, my psychiatrist is willing to let me try going off medication. He, however, says that it would be rare to have a thyroid problem to the point of mental illness, but possible, so I can try. I just don’t know if I am brave enough to try.

If I succeed, I’d not longer qualify for disability for instance. I’d have to figure out how to survive as a mildly autistic, un-disabled person.

  3. I think this article is meant as a strong warnin to stop using/ban glyphosate rather than as a set in stone future. You have mentioned a dilemma I hear from many disabled people — the fear of trying not to be disabled, because of losing support. I once knew a mother of a brain injured child who abruptly quit having him receive Reiki from me “because he’s getting well. He is improving too fast, and I depend on the State’s money for him as a disabled child.” I was never so angry at a client as then, because this mother denied him the right to recover. Any treatments that worked, she curtailed for the $1800/ month. It is one thing when it’s yourself, but even more complex with children. We need to course correct our society pronto!

  4. WOW – that is crazy!

BTW, we have a Reiki practitioner come into our house every 2 weeks to help us with Lyme Disease, and it is amazing.

  6. Finally visited Natural News. Overwhelming, seems that Medcaid might go down soon (Impossible to find a Doctor), and I’m guessing Medicare will follow. The choice might be made for me. Techiquely my Dr says my current thyroid levels are good, but I cannot get the thyroid medicine without a doctor’s prescription.

Without Disability I have no insurance to get what keeps me from being Disabled. Jobs with insurance are rare. So without an antipsychoic I lose Disability and lose access to care for my thyroid. Then I go crazy due and get put back on an antipsychotic. See why I feel trapped?

Our gut health affects every function. How many people do any of us know who have no health problems — physical, emotional, spiritual — these days?

Peacenowflower, I understand that eating raw cruciferous vegetables (ie broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage) is damaging to the thyroid. Those vegetables need to be cooked or fermented to be more digestible. So that’s one way you can take control of your thyroid problem, by not making it worse through simply not knowing better. It can feel so daunting, but it’s a step in the right direction.

As for the general comments on being on disability: keeping income limited like this is a very effective way to neutralize people and take away their power. I don’t think it’s an accident that a synonym for power is “current” (as in electric current) which can be stopped at any time by the powers that be. All they have to do is unplug us from their system. Come to think of it, “current” also means “at the present time,” “common or widespread” and also “flowing,” as in water currents. And we refer to money as “currency.” That reference is from the 1650’s, and derives from Latin currens, “condition of flowing,” from present participle of currere “to run”. In 1699, it apparently was extended to mean “circulation of money” in 1699 by English philosopher John Locke. Coincidence? I doubt it.

  10. @The Person Next to You: that’s great! Yes, I know many people with Lyme who have found Reiki effective for both the pain and the mood/cognitive issues. Quite a few have learned it themselves so as to be able to offer the treatment to themselves or ailing family members in the moment. Good stuff!

  11. @peacenowflower, yes, I do see why you feel trapped, and I’ve known many others who find themselves in that Catch 22 situation. I flirted with that situation myself during brain injury recovery. Workers Comp didn’t want to pay for my care, so they kept shopping me around to psychiatrists and psychologists to try to get a crazy diagnosis. Then they wouldn’t have to pay me. Social Security, by contrast, did NOT want me to be diagnosed as crazy, because then THEY would need to pay me. For some bizarre reason, no one wanted to touch my brain injury — which was documented by several objective tests. I saw that if I got onto SSI, it would not be enough for me to live on or get the kind of alternative care that was helping me — and that I’d be required to participate in treatments that I knew would not. I did not pursue SSI for that reason and have personally never regretted it. For me, freedom was and is the key. That’s not so for everyone, but it is for me.

I do like to quote Rumi:

    There Is a Way

The intellect says: “The six directions are limits: there is no way out.”
Love says: “There is a way. I have traveled it thousands of times.”
    The intellect saw a market and started to haggle;
Love saw thousands of markets beyond that market.

  12. @bornoutsidethebox: totally! It’s amazing to me what a parasite cleanse does for people, too. We live in a parasitic society, from the food to the government to the corporations to systemically bred narcissists. It’s a wonder anyone has any health at all! Given the challenges, THAT is the true testament to human resilience and self-healing capacity.

  13. Kieron, thanks for mentioning the fermentation again. Xandor Katz and Sally Fallon have some great recipes, as I know you know. I’m just mentioning that here for reference. Also, thanks for the brilliant unpacking of the word “current” and all its implications. That’s a very important word in English, and choosing to reclaim current and currency makes enormous differences with huge ripple effects in many areas.

  14. Hello Kieron, I’ve done some research about what to eat/not eat. The list is long.

My disablility is being reviewed right now. I am not stressed because if I am denied, the government made the choice for me. I’d have to find a way.

I was eating a college students diet before becoming ill and that messed up my thyroid. If only they tested my thyroid, years of suffering could have been avoided.

Now I am finally out of the fog and have to figure out life. What job will support me, but not take away my life. What my passions are. I lost important years in of discovering myself in college. Luckily the government paid me enough for the time I wasn’t on disability, but disabled, that I paid off student loans. Between that and scholarships, I got college without debt. (I was once considered very smart. Years of illness and sleep hurt my brain.)

My Family wants grad school, but I don’t think it’ll help. My therapist thinks I shouldn’t worry about finding a full time job, and that it is okay to be Disabled. That it’d be too stressful for my illness. My Family wants me off Disablity and working. Any job with money and insurance. I’m turned down in Interviews for reasons like, “strong written abilities, but poor verbal (ie mild autism showing through.)”

With strong written abilities it’d make sense to be a writer, but I lose passion too quickly. I only seem to function artistically in school. Sadly, few jobs are like school, many are behind desks bored.

  15. BTW Sorry for leaving such personal comments. I’m wearing of Rune for illumination, and I sometimes process thoughts better by writing them. I didn’t know the effect of the rune would be to confess my problems to everyone.

I’m just so tired of secrets. I’m told to hide my disability or the stigma will attach to me. I do have a part-time job where I cannot confess unless I never want to be hired full time there. At times I want to explain myself so badly, but cannot. I am horrible with secrets. They eat me up.

I had a blog where I didn’t give my name. I wrote about my illness, and New Age knowledge. Yet, if I used my name, google would show my illness to the world. I recently linked it to my Instagram. I don’t post much anymore, though. I just like taking pictures for them to appear on my Blog. A savvy Internet user could find my name on Instagram, but I cannot post it.

So the process lately, has been to stop hiding. I am certainly going through a process, but I don’t know where it will lead. My dream job, was to be a blogger who somehow made money off of the site. Yet, no matter how much I posted, I didn’t seem to increase views much. So I gave up. I planned on starting on wordpress, and moving later.

I also wanted to talk about things without filling up other people’s blogs with comments. I used to post on this site a lot, and felt I was intruding.

My posts were never really professional enough to attract viewers. I needed more images, yet couldn’t bring myself to make them. Being an artist, I couldn’t use someone else’s images even if I linked to them. I never really put research into attracting viewers to social media, and couldn’t tell many people I know about the site… I am talking on and on again, sorry. Its my natural tendency pushed forward by a Rune. Its trying to illuminate me through writing. Its happening in real life too. I’ll just talk with complete strangers (baristas usually).

For example, I talked to a barista about passing a homeless person in the cold on the street today, and how much I regret not giving them the $20 in my purse. I was worried it’d be used on drugs, but its so cold out… not common conversation with baristas.

  16. It’s also the astrology. Clarity in spades, things out of hiding, very difficult to remain in denial right now! Look on the world stage and also with what’s happening on individual levels. Plus, yeah, Runes are very powerful. Use with discretion for specific energies and intentions related to hose energies, because they do work!
