A Reader discusses the New Age movement, contentment, the ego, consciousness, etc. . . ~J

Some very good observations on a topic I’ve posted on before, as well. The New Age movement is a (purposely) watered down mish mash of real, powerful traditions that actually do hold potential for awakening the sleeper. By contrast, the New Age “contentment” stupor and passivity, filled with platitudes and the “negative thought police” goes a long way towards explaining how we got where we are today, despite the initial awakening in the 1960’s. Let’s hope that with all those Uranus-Pluto squares, we live into the potential of the original Peace Movement and Summer of Love.

This is interesting timing. I took a class yesterday that was described as crystal, stone and mineral spirituality, but it was just a mishmash of new age stuff rattled off by someone who probably means well, but comes across as pink-unicorn-fluffy-bunny-feel-good etc., and definitely watered-down traditions. At times, I had to firmly rein-in my eyeball-gymnastics, if you get my drift… The only good thing to come of it was finding a type of jasper I want to work with and meditate upon.

  2. That IS synchronous timing! The flip side of the watered down mishmash is that for those who look past the fluff, we CAN find some real gems hidden away in there. Glad you did! Funny that is was jasper — such a nice grounding stone! 🙂

  3. The “New Age Contentment stupor…” … brilliant and apt. I and peeps have been in discussion about this observation of (purposely) watered-down “mishmash” of otherwise powerful insights and practices. There are gems worth sifting out, for those who chose to dive deeply rather than skitter along the surface. Thanks for posting, Laura.

I agree except for the knowledge part. We need to know our true history as a human race. If you woke up tomorrow with amnesia, from that day forward people would have to help through life. They could also feed you lies about anything. This is the problem with the human race, we have amnesia. So yes knowledge is important. It’s up to you to learn the knowledge that is the truth or learn the lies and have someone help you through life constantly. 🙂

  6. I agree with you, James. It’s time to step into self responsibility. The knowledge is available. It just takes some looking, research and then feeling into it. 🙂
