Humpty Dumpty all back together again

Hildegard von Bingen The Cosmic Egg

Hildegard von Bingen, The Cosmic Egg, 12th c.

Medieval art: Hildegard von Bingen, a mystic, paints her visions.

(via women-art)

For those who don’t know Hildegard, she was a 12th century mystic, herbal healer, nun, composer and artist. I first learned of her when my brain injury related migraines forced me to drop out of Northwestern University’s PhD program in English Literature. I stayed in touch with several professors, one of whom had studied connections between Hildegard’s migraines and her cosmic visions. Wow! Someone else with migraines and cosmic visions! I’ve considered both my professor and Hildegard kindred spirits ever since. (This professor is the same one who calls me “Lily” for my synchronous ways of procuring just the right clothes, usually for free. Lily, as in: “Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”) Anyway, I digress! Happy Easter, Ostara, Passover, Life and World with a little Hildegard to light your way:
